Just want to update everyone that there is a chance I will officially be retiring from making porn. Due to COVID-19 and the new testing rules for models its required we get tested to see if we have already had COVID-19. If they offer a blood test then I will happily accept the offer. But if I have to get a swab shoved down my nostril like the one they use for strep throat then this is me announcing my retirement in the porn industry. Most of the labs in my area we use for those kinds of testing are minute clinics and 90% of them are not properly trained for this and I refuse to let a wannabe doctor use me for training. Until I know more this is where my options stand at

As mikeyank said, your health & safety come first and we all get that. My understanding was that the antibody test was a blood test but I could be wrong. I do understand the distaste for that swab test. We have enjoyed your work and hope that we will see more of it. But we all understand where you are coming from.

I got the same email saying it's for blood tests as well but theres no telling if they run out and tell people they have to use the swabs, I'm gonna make a few phone calls after this weekend and see what options they have but the ONLY way I will be forced to retire is IF they make me get a swab done, I love making porn to much to just quit but a long swab shoved in my face is a huge no go for me lol I'd just be stuck waiting till blood tests where available again

I'm sad to hear of this decision James.

But I do understand. I only ask that you not consider a permanent retirement just in case the manner of testing changes. It could eventually become a blood test that could be done in the same draw as all the STD tests you are required to do before filming. Granted, it may not happen soon. It may not happen ever. We may be stuck with the nasal swab test unless or until we get a vaccine. They are now hoping to get a vaccine that is both effective and ready to be put out for mass inoculation by January instead of the normal 18 months they typically abide by.

Around this time last year I developed the flu. And in the ER of the hospital they did the nasal swab test on me to confirm the flu diagnosis. It's done in a pretty much identical way as the Covid test. Same swab, techinique and all. It was uncomfortable. Yes. I won't lie and sugarcoat that much. But for me it was very brief and tolerable. For myself and my own medical history I've been through far worse. I also had the benefit of getting the nasal swab done by a nurse in a real hospital rather than a nurse or an aide in some kind of a Doc-in-the-box, or diagnostic center on the corner. I've previously had to have the nasal-gastric tube that's run up all the way up through the nose, down the back of the throat and all the way into the stomach. So relatively speaking, the swab test was a walk in the park.

However I am not you. You are the one who has the final say in what procedures are done to your body and what you are comfortable with getting done. So it's not up to me or anyone else to tell you how to feel about it.


Also please consider that if you do decide to wait until a vaccine is available and you both want (and you're offered) the chance to come back in January or a little later, you will still be welcomed back with open arms. xo

If they are testing for past exposure to COVID 19 this would be done by blood checking for antibodies. If they are checking to see if you currently have COVID this is done with a swap and possibly saliva. My understanding is that they now have a swap that is simply put in your nostril (like picking your nose for the lack of a better analogy). The other sample that you are referring to is where the insert a swap through the nose as far as they can and into the back of your nose (the nasopharynx) and recently saliva is under investigation. You can call a testing center, (if your state offers testing) and they can tell you which test they are currently using. Things are changing ever hour, believe me, it's hard to keep up with. James, I totally respect your decision and while it will be sad for many of us who are fans of your work we totally understand your reasons. Hopefully a vaccine will be available soon so it will protect all of us no matter where you live, but I fear this maybe a little way down the line yet.
