People have lives. That is a fact. I just wonder why the forum is so very dead? Has Broke Straight Boys run it's course?
Are we trying to hang on to something that is just not there anymore. Are we sick of each other?
Do we think it is all bullshit???
What do you think the reason is??? Curious in San Francisco....

I think it has a lot to do with Recent Repetitive Casting.
This is my problem too. I love being with this site and I enjoy the forum but this casting problem isn't getting any better. I thought if we wait it out it would get better but it isn't. When they finally get a new model they over use him horribly. When they use a different studio they over use it as well. it's no longer fun to see whats next because it's going to be one of about 5 models and filmed in the same studio with the same format. No change no surprise just a tired old scene. I really don't want to offend or hurt anyones feelings but I really do like this site and I admire what Mark has done I just think he is making a mistake inm letting things stay the same. I really do.

I think people are becoming more busy with things and don't have time to post. We still have plenty of members but not many wanting to post on here. :/
With all due respect Mark, I don't see that as the answer. People have always had just as busy lives, and the site and the forum can be a great diversion from the drudgery of everyday life. So apparently for whatever reason, folks are just choosing not to post. :001_unsure:

between work, social life, facebook, twitter, and other stuff in life we are all busy however I always try to stop in every now and again so be patient Johnny, the good ones will stick around and some of the newer members may not even know about the forum, I was a member for over 30 days before I ever knew about it and then I wondered upon it one day. There are a lot of members who read as mark stated and just don't post. I have had 3 pvt messages in the last 15 days from newbies just introducing themselves and basic chat, some just don't like to be public I guess...

I think it had more to not being wowed by the scenes. They are the same old with few new models. Where we used to have a new model every week, we are now lucky if we get one every three months.

Every few months, this old saw comes to the fore again. Why aren't people posting more and why aren't more people posting?

And I don't think there is one easy, simplistic answer which applies to everyone. All of the reasons cited thus far on this thread - busy schedules, people dismayed with the site, other social media sites, etc. etc. play a part; and I'm sure there are others I haven't even thought about.

I can only speak for myself. I am retired and have time on my hands. But I have things to do, e.g. family matters, drs appts., food shopping, local government official business. My other free time is taken up by the internet and television. TV is my primary source of entertainment and I dvr a lot of it and always have a backlog to catch up on. I'm on the net several times a day checking email, and a variety of other sites. When it comes to porn, I check in with Broke Straight Boys first to see what's going on with the forum. I almost always post on a scene thread and when that is done I usually don't post on it again unless it is to comment on another's post or an issue raised by another's post. With respect to the general board, if the topic is of interest to me I might post if I have something to say.

But let's face it, Most of us are settled in our ways and we get to know what each other likes and what type of models each of us prefer so it is not as if there is much new said, myself included. I still enjoy reading what people say even if I sort of know what they are going to say, but I don't usually feel compelled to comment because it would basically be repetitive.

Also I am very private and rarely talk about my personal life. Others share every jot and tittle. I might read those posts depending on the person posting, but since I really don't know them I tend to doubt much of what is written, being the cynic, doubting Thomas, and curmudgeon that I am. I find that with age my bullshit meter is pretty good, though not infallible.

There are times when I might post frequently and other times not so much. It really depends on what is unfolding on the forum. As they said on the old tv show, "There are a million stories in the Naked City, and this is just one." And this is my story - my general approach with respect to posting on the forum; I'm sure, like in the Naked City, every one else has their story - their own criteria and methodology when it comes to posting.

To me, it is really not complicated.

PS - It seems recently some might have stopped or reduced their frequency of posting, or change their style of posting because other forumites have been critical of what they have said or how they have said it. That has not and will never stop me from posting. I will not be intimidated by any one (there is only one person on this forum whose opinion I value enough to get me to reconsider something I have written or how I have written it). This is a free and open forum. If a forumite thinks another has been inappropriate, then they have several recourses: use the ignore option; just don't read the posts of the person you think is inappropriate; or if the post was egregious enough by your standards, take it to the administrator, and let him decide.

Thank you Stowe for taking the time to give a thoughtful, rational and retrospective answer to Johnny's question. I agree that this question does seem to come up every so often, when forum activity hits a snail's pace, but each time in the past, there has always been a resurgence of activity after a stagnant period, and so I hope and trust that will be the case once again.

However there was a "golden age" on the forum for me, in the years following it's inception, when I would go to work, or go to sleep and return to the forum eight or ten hours later and find dozens of new posts and some new threads started while I was away. This forum was my first soiree into the world of social media, and the core group of posters became a new group of online friends for me, and while discussing matters of "importance" to us like the volume of Mike Robbins' cum shots or the question of if Tyler Evans was still straight or not, we developed online friendships, getting to know the names of one's partners if they were in a relationship to living situations and work environments for many of the members. For me, a guy in my mid fifties at that time, I was amazed to discover a whole new world of virtual friends, who I often exchanged private messages and emails with as well.

Then my "bestie" at that time, Ms. K came along and taught me that real life off forum friendships could be forged here as well, and so the forum took on a whole new life for me. The cast of characters has changed several times since 2008 when this all began, but my interest or is it "obsession" with the forum never changed for me. I currently have at least seven real friends whom I met through this forum, and that I exchange emails with, and speak to on the phone and I have actually met three including Tampa several years ago, Peter who flew cross country to stay with me for a wonderful week as we toured New York City together and visited Betu upstate for a day. And I am hoping to make a return trip of my own to visit Peter in Seattle and then Johnny in San Francisco. And besides those who became personal friends, there have been countless other virtual friends here over the years who I love to exchange ideas, quips and stories with right here on the forum. I've tried to explain this forum to friends and family members who have no clue what I am talking about when I try to explain the importance of "the forum" to, but it sure has worked for me over the last going on eight years.

I hate to sound like an old man clamoring for the "glory days", (to quote Bruce Springsteen"), but this is why the forum means so much to me, but I accept that life goes on and that people and things change, and so if the forum and the site from which it originated are in a stagnant period, or even in it's final stages, I can accept that too. I'd love for the forum to be what it once was, but I also wish I was younger and for so many people and things to be what they once were as well, but the reality of life is "today" and not "yesterday". We can only move forward and not backwards.

I agree with the masses here. The casting needs to be figured out. I go a week at a time sometimes without even logging on because of the scenes/models that are featured on the upcoming scenes. Management needs to figure out a way to fix this over shooting models situation or simply its going to bring them down further. I don't know about anyone else but I don't like paying for something I am getting nothing from, but that's just me. I left the sight for awhile for this same reason in the past and its looking like the future is the same. Not trying to be an ass just stating my opinion because it was FINALLY brought up..

I did a survey on myself. Since January 1st of this year I have only watched one scene so I really have not had much to offer on this side of the forum. However, I have posted more frequently on the General Forum (not membership).

Historically, I do not watch a scene when it first comes out. By the time I do watch it, what I may have thought about it had already been posted by other members on the forum. I have gotten in the habit of merely watching and rating, and move on. I do check in every day to see what has been posted. When a new scene is posted I do look at the photos but so far nothing has caught my attention enough to watch it.

I have thought about discontinuing my subscription but for the moment I am being patient and looking forward to brighter days.

Very well said!

Hey Louis, you're stuttering, buddy. lol

My feeling is that the same people not only post on everything but basically talk to each other. They say Hello to new people and welcome them, then they go on their way and chat with each other.
As I always said, On a porn site people want to get off to the porn they don't give a shit what people on here think. As for busy times its March this is not the busy season.

Sorry you feel that way joey..My case .I have made friends. And I like talking with them. And I do care what others think.
But for me it is also a fun place to go too.. Real life is hard enough.

Do my best to check out the Forum everyday yet I don't post everyday. One of the reasons is that I'm working very hard at saying nothing if I have nothing good to say. One of the reasons I don't have anything good to say is the growing number of fem bottoms and interesting guys in the Broke Straight Boys stable these days. Fems have every right to be here, I'm just not a fan. I started with Broke Straight Boys 1 and even the gay boys (Cousin Mickey comes to mind) were more butch. They were also more interesting guys. Mark has spent a hundred thousand dollars on casting but he got a bad deal. "Nice guys" aren't necessarily sexy or guys we want to watch. Think there are a lot of guys like me who don't bother watching and therefore commenting on certain scenes. Sha may be a great organizer but he is not the best producer/director of scenes. He's a nice guy just not the best choice to produce/direct scenes. The number of posts on the Forum after the Brandon/Kaden Alexander scene was higher than most of the previous scenes in a month. Why? Interesting models? Compare the current crop in the Broke Straight Boys stable to the days of Tyler White, Brandon B, Cage Kafig, Paul, Ronan Kennedy, Adam Baer, Johnny Forza, Denver Grand, Kodi, etc. Give the people someone interesting to watch and they'll comment.

I for one don't think it's the current cast of models fault at all. I scored 5s on the last two scenes?? But for me personally a year and half ago I was on the forum a few times a day chatting away. Once I got my I-phone and learned how to use correctly lol I have access to facebook, twitter, email and massive amounts of games and apps I like all at my fingertips. I have Broke Straight Boys also but the screen is to small, so I have to log-in into my laptop. So the convenience of my phone and it's capabilities takes up a lot of time. Plus work, golf and somebody has to fuck and feed these boys!!!!! And lets face it, if you look at it like a soap opera you can go days and weeks or more and come back and Mikeyank and Johnny have just repeated themselves!! lololololol xoxoxoxoxoxo to you both....
