I miss Tank Shane

As a Broke Straight Boys resident practically almost forever...

I guess I'm not the best forumite in the world because I usually only read threads that interest or intrigue me and this wasn't one of them -- until all this "on the site forever' stuff came up on another thread and I inquired about what that was all about, and was told it was this thread. Then I was intrigued.

First of all I want to thank mikey, stimpy, tampa, Ms.K, rrhill, and others who have been on the site from almost its inception for the insights you bring about the site, the forum, and the way things were done before my time. I have learned alot from your insights and am thankful for all the info you share from back in the day. It helps me to understand better the workings of the site and the ethos of the forum. We newbies are use to Clay's rarely posting on the forum; whereas, in Broke Straight Boys-1 David evidently posted quite a bit and in true testament to his "chatty-cathyness" talked alot about what went on behind the scenes. I appreciate the "forum elders" for passing along this info because I am too lazy to go back and search the archives of the forum to find out what David posted because I am not a big fan of his.

So mikey and all you other forum elders keep sharing with us the history of the site and the forum and your insights which have been informed by them.

I, as a relative newcomer (1 year anniv. is 4/16), am speaking for myself and not on behalf of any other newbies.

Dear Stowe1, Mikeyank, and the rest of the forum members,

On behalf of the Broke Straight Boys Academy of Motion Picture Arts, I first of all want to give thanks to my parents, my teachers, and my uncureable and needy dick and busy right hand(though completely hair-free palms as my birthright and unfortunate permanent disability) for making me the Horny Gay man to appear before you tonight! Please excuse the protrusion in my pants and associated wet spot. It only bears silent witness to my long, longer, and longest delay from making my manhood public knowledge for all to enjoy.

I have a list of people to thank, but first before we pause for one of our sponsors that no longer supports Rush Limbaugh, I feel it down deep in my bones that just like everything else in life, we all have our dues to pay, and I not only mean the monthly fee, but factor in the hours and hours of dedication as represented by the number of postings Mikeyank or Tampa24 or others have invested in providing feedback to Broke Straight Boys management. What dedication! What would anybody expect from "being on this site forever"! I am not one of the founding forefathers of Broke Straight Boys unfortunately. Alas, I only came to Broke Straight Boys on March 10th, 2010. Hardly a founding father myself, none-the-less I try my very best to carry on their legacy, at times overcompensating with "very wordy postings"!

Mike has been like a good father to me always encouraging me regardless if he agrees with me or not. You see, Mike loves the whole notion of "free speech" and never puts me down for my frequent different views. But, for the record, putting down Mikeyank for being..."on this site forever" only shows the rest of the forumites how totally lacking in understanding and appreciation you have for Mikeyank and his countless hours invested into the forum a better place to be!

I would like to dedicate this impressive award to someone without peer on Broke Straight Boys, namely Mikeyank. Furthermore, I hope that you have the great fortune to come to know the real man you are so ready to dismiss without a second thought!

To Mikeyank: You are the MAN!

Sincerely,

Stimpy

Dearest Stimpy:

I second your nomination!! You might have been here for a shorter time than some others, but you have valuable insights from those years. The thoughtful and passionate nature of your posts (let alone the length of many - lol!) qualify you as an elder statesman. Once granted, that status cannot be refused or revoked!!!

I thought like Diesal and Shane, Mike Robbins tried bottoming? I think I'm right on that one. I don't remember David saying Mike lost his job because of it, Mike ranks right up there with the most Broke Straight Boys shoots ever, and it seemed to me that the only reason we stopped seeing Mike R. was because he passed away. Lastly, I have also seen the negotiations you speak of, but based on other conversations filmed, it seems obvious that these people discuss the shoot before the filming actually begins...ideally having already figured out who's the top/bottom. The "negotiation" seemed to be more to make it seem more believable. Just my thought.

Yes. I have "been on this site forever", (if forever is since 2008). I have no 'inside knowledge' of what really happens behind the scenes, but I try to make an intelligent guess based on the conversations on screen between David and Shane, and as a "forever" member, I can also recall many of the postings by David who is the man who hired the models, and filmed the scenes.

If you watch the opening banter in Shane's scenes, it became a standard topic of conversation for David to ask Shane to bottom, and Shane would shake his head and say "no". David would up the ante to encourage him to bottom, and Shane would complain that David always asks him this, and he still said no.

On the forum, David would often explain that if a model wanted to keep coming back, he would have to "reinvent" himself, and that he could only film a model doing the same thing over and over again a limited number of times. This is what happened with the late Mike Robbins. David explained that as Mike would not bottom, or kiss, he had to let him go.

Of course, "at the end of the day", Shane and Mike could have said "No", which Mike did, and he lost his job. Shane kept saying No, on screen and obviously off screen, until his one bottom scene, which I consider "unwatchable".

Just, sayin'

As the unofficial historian of the Broke Straight Boys forum, I will respond that Mike definitely tried bottoming in one scene and put a stop to it before it went too far.

And I just did some research to detail the end of Mike's career on Broke Straight Boys happening right in front of us on the forum, a good time before his passing.

He had a thread on the forum that he started called, "Hey, whats up? its ya boy, Mike Robbins! lol ". I went back to that thread to quote both Mike and David.

Mike's last post was on that thread on June 4, 2010 to thank us for our condolences on the loss of his best friend, and to tell us that he was fired.

He said,:

"hi everyone thanks for you condolences but i regret to inform you that i will no longer be working with D&E. so basically this will be my last post. good bye everyone!

live long and prosper
mike"

David confirmed the dismissal on the same thread on June 7, 2010:

We still have a lot of scenes of MikeR in the "can". Mike is a super cool guy on and off screen and he will be missed a lot.

Unfortunately, Mike was unable to re-invent himself and I'm sorry to say and I do apologies that all the scenes we have of him and the future scenes we have of MikeR, is all the same...just him topping another guy.

Don't get us wrong...its hot, but we can't keep on bringing back models that aren't willing to do more sexual experimentation and willing to push the envelope. Many of our members think just because a guy has sex with a guy, all our models are gay and we can argue this for years.

However, what many of our members don't now is that our "gay" models are not as gay as you all think and they are not willing to experiment with other guys and with themselves. As I stated in many past threads, how many times can we see the same model top another guy? How many times can we the same model bottom? If a model comes to our studio and limits themselves sexually, then we have no choice to let them go after a while.

Some models will stay. To answer some of your questions regarding Diesal, yes...Diesal will be bottoming again. Although he doesn't like it, he will do it because he knows the importance of every so often to "take one for the team" so our members will enjoy the site and its doesn't make Diesal stale and boring.

Models will be coming and going on this site.....this is the nature of the business...I feel bad...but this is the worse part of the business when we have to tell a model we can't film them anymore.

Good info. But I think I was saying that on screen negotiations aren't as real as we're led to believe and that much of the true negotiation happens off screen.

I was never tired of Mike R. David was never my favorite person, That being said, he definitely knew how to find the guys and they weren't cast offs of other sites. I'm sure that David regretted saying that, and soon after if I remember they shot Mike R. for the College Boy Physicals site. Anyway, good information.

I'm glad that the "research" I did on the forum helped clarify the timeline of Mike's departure from Broke Straight Boys

And yes, I agree 100% with you that the on screen negotiations are part of the fantasy aspect of the site, and that the real pay scale is determined well before the cameras are turned on.

Finally regarding David, he could be crude, and blunt with his comments both on and off camera, but he was the heart and soul of Broke Straight Boys until a year ago. To my way of thinking, his imperfections were part of his charm, and he was the man who brought us all of the classic iconic performers to this site. I definitely miss David.

Thanks Mike. I had forgotten most of that! Mike R was never my favorite, but I did enjoy most of his scenes. Tank Shane on the other hand, was exactly my type, and I never tired of watching him fuck another guy! But that is just me.

First of all I mean the other Shane, my mistake. Secondly, unlike a lot of people on here who feel that since they have been on the site forever that they can speak for what happens behind the scenes. We don't know if Tank Shane asked "How can I make more money...." or "I want to try to bottom once and see if I like it...." or if he was actually told "If you want to stay on the site you have to bottom." We just don't know those things, and still at the end of the day, he could have said NO. Just, sayin'

Mikey, this last post of yours is exactly why I wrote what I wrote in my prior post (cited above). Only with the longevity that you and a few others have could we learn about the history of the site and what went on before the arrival of us newbies. This was a good history lesson.

But you better watch it or you will become the "official" historian of Broke Straight Boys, a great title but with no monetary compensation - lol!!!

Thanks Stowe, but let's ask Mark if he is reading this. Is there any financial remuneration for the position of Broke Straight Boys historian? :2c:

It's funny how I started out in college as a History major, then went far afield, and now I am finally a historian. Strange how life works, isn't it?

For anyone who may be a newer member of this site, I want to be sure that all are aware that we have both the original Shane on this site, (later nicknamed "Tank" for his clothing line) and David later brought over a professional 'gay for pay' porn actor known here as "Porn" Shane).

The term "gay-for-pay" is often (mis)used on the site.

A man who's "gay-for-pay" is, by definition, straight. By his own admission, the performer you refer to as "Porn Shane" does not identity himself as "straight", and is therefore not "gay-for-pay."

Perhaps the term "straight-for-pay" (i.e., a gay man who engages in sex with other men while he pretends to be straight) would be more accurate in describing some of Broke Straight Boys performers.

Just an occupational hazard, I guess!

Dear jprice,

While I agree with you in relation to applying this label to the lovely "Porn Shane", he had an extensive portfolio of appearing in gay porn before landing on Broke Straight Boys Perhaps at that time he still identified with being straight in his private sexual encounters. However, by his own admission, he deflected to identify his sexuality as neither "gay" or "straight". He admitted that he thought identifying with one or the other was merely a "label" and he was perfectly comfortable regardless of the sex of his partners.

Therefore, I surmised coming from his own lips that "Porn Shane", due to his extensive porn background, no longer felt comfortable as identifying with either extreme on the sexuality scale. Summing up his thoughts, he just welcomed his sexual partners in whatever random order they appeared. Reflecting on his professional career, Shane(Porn) seemed to admit, with a slight smerk and a twinkle in his eyes from his chiseled face, that this was a bit of an unexpected consequence of his chosen line of work. But, he said without regret, he no longer had the set limits others felt compelled to follow.

Porn Shane is one of my all time favorites , as is clearly demonstrated by my avatar I have used long before Broke Straight Boys developed "Team Avatars". Unlike other pro's, Shane could never have been labeled as "jaded". On the contrary he always possessed an effervescent sense of humor while appearing in Broke Straight Boys episodes. Besides having a body to die for, his most fatal weapon in his arsenal at his disposal was his "killer smile" that is the textbook definition of "CHARM!:sun:

I sure would love to see his charming, smiling face again! :wtf::welcome:

Sincerely,

Stimpy - Dedicated Friend and Admirer:angel:

Stimpy, I enjoyed reading your synopsis of "Porn" Shane. To be quite honest, at the time his scene's were being released, I was not a fan, as I felt that being an experienced gay porn performer, that he did not belong here. David did explain both in the scenes with Shane and on the forum, that he was a rare exception to David's usual hiring policy. But I was still opposed to having him here.

But whenever I see one of his old scene's here now, I've come to appreciate how handsome he is, with a great face, body, cock, and a 'cock sure' attitude. Perhaps one of the things that bothered me about him then was his slick, all knowing attitude, winking and flirting with David and us. But in retrospect, perhaps that is part of his charm.

I now can understand and enjoy having a model like Jason is now, who is good looking, and very skilled and experienced at gay sex, who can be a perfect partner for a cute newbie, like when Josh was with Porn Shane on BSB1.

You, my friend, hit the NAIL ON THE HEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!
