Hurricane Dorian approaching Florida

I wish all the best to anyone who reads this forum in the Southeastern part of the United States. Good thoughts and prayers for safety go out to two of the forumites who I've actually met on past trips to Florida, Tampa and Petefromsaintpete, and anyone else in the path of this potentially dangerous storm. Pete just got out of the hospital after back and neck surgery and is in Vero Beach which appears to be in line for a hard hit from Dorian.

Be safe my friends and please report back to your online family here on the forum to let us know how you are making out. You and anyone else being affected by the storm are in my thoughts and prayers. Be safe guys!

Glad you are ok. Hopefully those that get it won't be hit too hard. I have been through hurricanes before, and they're not a fun experience at all. Very terrifying.

The most annoying thing about Florida is people freak out way too early. I mean people in Tampa were freaking out weeks ago before Dorian was even close to anything WTF.

I heard that gas stations as far west in Florida as Saint Petersburg were running out of gas while the storm was still inching toward the Bahamas. It was quite clear that if Florida was going to get hit, that it would cross from the eastern side. But the Tampa Bay area was still freaking out. I was out of the country for most of the hurricane and got back home well after any danger to central Florida had passed. So I was fine and was also spared a lot of needless worry. This time...

Great to see you posting again Tampa after a hiatus, and obviously I'm so glad that you and Pete and any other Floridians on the forum averted any real damage.......this time, as you say. back to forumland Tampa!!!!
