A new friend just pointed me in the direction of this section to post an official introduction for myself. I hadn’t even realized this section was here, and I’m not generally one to share much about myself. However, going against what I normally do I’ll share the most “raw” item about myself.
About a year ago I went through a really rough break-up. Because of a lot of shared friends I pulled myself back from almost everyone in my life. After a few months I was able to pick up with a couple very close friends, but for the most part I continue to keep myself away from what were once large. Important parts of my life. The reasons for this are numerous and personal and I don’t really see this changing much in the near future. The reason I bring all this up? Because, this is actually the first time I’ve actually put myself out to any new group of people in quite a while.
Oh sure, I have a day-to-day job and I interact with people there and I do have the handful of close friends locally that I see from time to time, but I might be a bit rusty at some niceties and such, so please bear with me as I get back into the swing of things. I’m not looking for sympathy (at least I don’t think I am), but I just wanted to forewarn anyone if I ever come across a bit cold or seem out of sorts. It’s been a long process to rebuild some confidence to actually get to know new people – even if it’s online to start with.
For boring details, I work in a rather tall building in Downtown Minneapolis managing an administrative staff. Yes, it’s very cold here for half the year, but I really love the Twin Cities, even if I grew up in Amish country in Ohio. I’m older than I want to be (who isn’t) and really like British TV shows, mostly comedy and sci fi. I have two cats, Katty (female) and Zac (male), that are generally vying for my attention (one is on the back of the chair as I type this).
I hope to get to know some of you over the next few weeks.
