On Thursday, I will be traveling up US1 from KW to Ft Lauderdale for a convention and some fun. FtL is only four hours from Key West but I still know very little about the area... like... Where are the strip clubs? (My fav)

Also, favorite places other members know of? Bars? Places to eat?

 Thank you in advance for suggestions.

Jeff

I don't know much about Lauderdale although I have some fond memories of trips there years ago. I do have a suggestion for you though: Bring an umbrella and prepare for a rainy and windy drive up there. Irene looks to be veering more to the east than first thought. Even so, it's going to be such a big storm that Thursday and Friday will not be balmy beach days.

Good luck! :)

I've only been to Ft Lauderdale once myself, and the only thing I can recommend is to attend Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church if you're there on a Sunday...and if you love great traditional worship music. But that's a topic for a different type of forum altogether, though.

While that was probably not a suggestion Jeff was expecting, I think that recommending a favorite church is perfectly alright on a forum like this. :) He seemed to be asking for recommendations of unique places in a city unknown to him that would provide him a glimpse of local culture. By that standard an especially nice place of worship qualifies.

Thanks Abe

It would be nice if Diane Bish was still the organist there, as she was for many years, but apparently she was fired by the late Rev. James Kennedy for being a lesbian. But she designed the amazing, and majestic Ruffati organ there that is a sight -- and sound -- to behold.

I guess I should say "thank you" for the suggestions but I don't expect to find myself at church on Sunday. Not only would I expect the rain, lightning will surely follow.

I'm sureprised no one on our site has fun suggestions. (i.e. Strippers are fun.) :001_tt1: Anywhere?

In addition to nice "meat", nice places to eat would also be on my list.:thumbup1: Any suggestions?

Strip bars for Ft Lauderdale are Boardwalk (on Andrews) and Johnny's (on Broward). If you want more built buff guys go to Boardwalk. If you want thinner and twink type guys then Johnny's is your place. As far as a bar goes you will want to go to Wilton Manors area where you will find Georgie's, Bills, Rosie's and the Manor. You can park at Georgie's parking lot and walk to all of them. Let me know if you need any other suggestions.

See KW? You finally found someone who knows the city. haha

Thanks Sha!
