Finally a Gay Character on Battle Star Gallactica Series

BSG and the gay characters

Jayman:

Really it's three characters.... Lt. Felix Gaeta is the "regular", his boyfriend Hoshi (formerly communications officer aboard the Pegasus) and of course Admiral Helena Cain (from Razor). It's great that the writers producers had the balls to include it, but for now it's only on the webisodes. We'll have to see if it spills over into the last on air episodes. The treatment so far in the webisodes has been great especially the comments that the pilots were taking bets on when Gaeta and Hoshi were going to get together.......

It's kind of funny that this is happening now as Majel Barrett Roddenberry just passed away. Her husband, Gene, always wanted to have a gay character in the Star Trek world but Paramount had issues with the idea.

The truth will be known and if Gaeta is the 5th unknown cylon and is gay............??????????

As always, yours

Jayce

Well, Star Trek had a lot of firsts with starting with an African American Lead Character, and the first interracial kiss. Then there was Dax in DS9. She was the first woman to woman kiss aired on national TV.

We developed micro computers and cell phones based on Star Trek. Hopefully we don't need to wait until the year 2500 to see Gay rights approved of.

Oh, my not nurse Chappel too. I loved her as counselor Troi's mother. I am truly sorry to hear that she passed on too. She and Gene were perfect together. Thanks so much for the info. I did not even know there were webisodes until last night. I do now... Thanks for the update.

Here is a tribute to Majel if any one is interested.

Star Treak and BSG

You're more than welcome.

I, too, will miss Majel. From playing Number 1 in the pilot to Nurse Chapel to Ambassador Troi to the voice of the computer, she really was a part of all the Star Trek franchise.

Gene did get an epsidoe in Next Generation to deal with the gay issue... Remember Riker falling for a "woman" froma planet of androgenous people and their treatment of the woman? They tried to cure her.........

I, too, don't want to wait for the future.

Be well Jayman.

Yes, I do remember that episode. I didn't see it that way until you just mentioned it. Thanks again...

"Live long and prosper," and "may the force be with you" always...

So,Jayce is it?
OK, I like that! On the subject of our dear St Majel, don't you think that she and her husband Gene both knew what a gem they had in Sulu? Granted his character was not gay per se, but who can forget that scene in the "memory"
episode when Sulu appeared in the corridor outside the bridge of the Enterprise wearing only those tight pants and displaying a six pack from heaven! Waving that fencing sword he was as "Gay" as anything, definitely going where Paramount had not gone before. LOL

M&M

It was super hot. Wow, M&M that was one of my favorite episodes too. He was glistening with sweat too.

Damit Jim I'm a Dr not a mechanic. Sorry but that was the only quote I could think of right now. Coincidence but this afternoon I was watching a a celebrity roast of Will Shatner on the comedy channel. Sulu was the corner stone of many of the jokes but he laughed them all off. Example "everyone knows that Shatner is nuts but Gorge has tasted them." Talking about dead celebrities made me think of this web site. Call me morbid but I enjoy browsing around on it. http://www.findagrave.com/index.html

George did look awesome with his shirt off, better than Shatner (or so I think).

Too bad he couldn't come out earlier.

You know now that I think of it.. sci fi has been pretty good to/for us. Didn't Babylon 5 kinda flirt with a lesbian love affair?

And yes M&M, Jayce it is..... Given name is Jason:001_tt2:

May whatever power you hold dear embrace you and give you peace...

I'm sad that Majel is gone! She was hot! LOL!! I think it is so cool that Gene had Majel involved in so many episodes. All of them if you think about the computer voice. Damn, I'm getting old!! I also remember Sulu bare chested with the sword. I thought I was the only one who thought it was hot! LOL!!

Sounds like we have the making of a George Takei fan club.

BTW I love to deliver a great trip down memory lane.

Don't be too bummed, mark.....

Battlestar Gallactica is my favorite. I can't wait for it to start but I am super bummed it is the last season. :crying:

Mark

In 2010 there will be a prequel of Battlestar called Caprica which is supposed to take us through the years leading up to the destruction of the 12 colonies, so buck up Mark, more to come! Some of the cast is interesting as well... Esia Morales and Eric Stolz.

Maybe somewhere along the line I'll figure out what's going on for the tribes of humanity.

It has all happened before and will all happen again

Yours,

Jayce

Wow, thanks that is great news. Star Gate SG1 and Star Gate Atlantis are really starting to bore me a bit now anyway. Sanctuary, hasn't struck a chord yet. I do like Battle Star Galactica. I was spoiled from the 80's series special effects. So, the newer series is great. I just miss the pulsar cannon special effects. I guess the light show really set the stage for me. I kind of like the fact you could shoot a Cylon with a phase piston and put it out of commission in one shot.

All right Mark is a Sci-Fi fan too. Thanks again Jayce... Great info.

well with that news my super powers have just been restored

As a young boy I remember drooling over the episode "Charlie" where Kirk tried to teach this 18ish teenage guy how to wrestle. Kirk (and the young guy) were wearing nothing but very tight red gym pants. (Sort of like modern day biker pants.) And then of course they grappled and squirmed around. Kirk showed quite a bulge for tame network T.V. of the day. I had to look around the room to make sure nobody noticed how riveted I was to the screen at that point! :)

Who could ever forget Dirk Benedict in his prime? OMG! And the other actor too. They were both so hot. I couldn't decide which one I wanted more. I often wondered about the dark haired guy. I think he might play on our team.

The actor who played Apollo (Richard Hatch) actually stars in the new Battle Star Galactica too. Below is his web site. I kept wanting to see an episode with him and Starbuck stranded on a planet alone. You know sort of the galactic version of blue lagoon with guys only.

Jayman,

Interesting. However, are they rewriting Star Trek history? Peter, aka Kirk's nephew, was in the episode titled "Operation Annihilate" and to the best of my knowledge he did not survive the alien attack. Therefore, was he resurrected for this episode?

Live Long and Prosper,

My understanding was this was the precurser to that episode. I could be wrong...
