I am curious how some of the members of the forums are thinking about the on-going crises of the Coronavirus. I wanted to do a poll on some of the ideas or reactions, going through some of the minds. Some of the choices will be outrageous, however, I think some will honestly consider them. ok here goes; How do you feel about the Coronavirus?

1 just as always, the press is blowing everything out of proportion.
2 just as the Sars virus of 2003, it will fizzle out.
3 This could be a pandemic, which I need more information about.
4 I knew we were overdue for a pandemic, I am going out tomorrow and getting my bio-suit and masks.
5 It is the government, one of their viruses escape from a lab.
6 You mean I am going to die because of some Chianese person from Wahun, eating a snake, bat, pig or whatever passing on this virus
7 Bring it on, I knew this was going to happen, that is why I am sitting here with my bio-suit & 6 months of food.
8 I'll be ok, I always wear protection, have good hygiene practice & stay away from sick people.
9 I got an underground bunker, I will monitor this virus, when it spreads to every state, I am bugging out.
10 Well, I have had a good productive life, what happens, will happen/

My reaction is #1, Pete. "just as always, the press is blowing everything out of proportion".

This is that stat on the season flu in the U.S.A.

"In the 2017-2018 flu season, as many as 61,000 people died, and 45 million were sickened. In the 2019-2020 season so far, 15 million people in the US have gotten the flu and 8,200 people have died from it, including at least 54 children."

Here is an article I just found from KTLA in Los Angeles.

"With Over 8,000 Deaths This Season, Flu Remains Greater Threat Than Coronavirus in U.S."

Not at all Pete. I take the NYC subways back and forth to work twice a week and on all my excursions into Manhattan and around the city, and I hold on to the railings and usually forget to wash my hands after. And I've had one cold the last two years. I believe in just living my life, being cautious, but not paranoid.

I am kidding you, Mike, I enjoy ribbing you, but I live in a rural city as you know. However, I do think it needs to be monitor. Just today. a woman in Chicago who was in China passed on the virus to her husband. The fact that this virus can be passed on by healthy people, who were infected & antisemitic. I attempt to practice good hand washing & sanitation procedures, but we all sometimes lapse. It is sad, that if it does happen, it will be young kids & older, people with compromised immune systems. That will have the most trouble. You are correct that the flu kills many each year.
But. I always like razing you, hey baseball season spring training is not far off, Go Rays

I don't want to sound like the grammer/spelling police, but there is a huge difference between being antisemitic and asymptomatic.
That said, there have been only around 200 deaths in a nation of 2 billion; so just be wary of people who have been to China.

No problem Wylie1, glad you caught it. Btw you misspelled grammar. we all make mistakes & billion should have a (,)behind it instead of ( ;). Just glad you responded.

My mistake on grammar. The "so" should have been omitted so the semicolon could be used. ☺

I’m not sure If it’s overblown or not. It probably is but I remember the aids epidemic and patient 0. I guess we will find out.

My response will always be the last. I’ve lived a good life, no worries here. I’m not afraid of death at all, and if it’s my time then it’s my time.

Interesting debate guys, in the UK we have our first two cases and they are from the same family and arrived from China. The UK has installed a strict 14 day quarantine programme at a military base and all arrivals from China are under guard for this period. At the moment all flights are banned from China both to and from this country so only time will tell if this develops into more than a seasonal version of flu. Like you guys in the US, here we are in the midst of flu season anyway and frankly there are some very nasty versions going round . Having caught a very heavy cold in the last few weeks I know have lousy it can make you feel. So if anyone is suffering with colds or flu at the moment here's a quick drink that I make that may make u feel better. In a saucepan bring to the boil one cup of water with a piece of root ginger in it. Simmer for 15 minutes, strain and put in a cup with lemon juice and honey or sugar (honey in this case is better) to taste and drink immediately. It will make you feel better almost immediately as ginger has natural antioxidants that help fight cold like symptoms. You can make this as often ad you feel you need to. Enjoy.
