I think we need to remember that the forumites aren't the only ones who vote on the scenes or the models. I don't know how many members belong to Broke Straight Boys, but I have no doubt that a small minority comment here on the forum. While management enjoys and appreciates our input, I have no doubt that, as a business, they go with the numbers. How Young and Mikey feel about Chris is the same way I feel about Rowan, yet he's still here.

We all wonder why others don't feel the same way we do, but everyone has the favorites "type". A long time ago I stopped trying to figure out why others think the way they do. I try to enjoy the three updates a week and look back at old favorites when they're disappointing. Maybe one of the updates will have their positions flipped. That one will be a real winner.

Prodigal, I agree with both your and Mikey's posts. I enjoy everyone's posts, whether I agree or not. The biggest reason I posted what I did was because I've seen so many others post, "What's wrong with Broke Straight Boys?", and I wanted to remind everyone that there are a lot of voices to take into account beyond what we see here. It's no big thing, really, but sometimes I have to remind myself that of that fact as well.

I agree 100% that the forum DOES NOT necessarily echo over-all membership values, but that is also why I recently had posted the ratings on the first ten scenes of February, as that does reflect all members who view scenes and not just the folks who post here in forumland.

I don't mean to be judgmental, but I ALWAYS appreciate Mikey's reasonable and wise oversight, not to exclude others who are very reasonable and wise. And Mikey is always sweet and understanding even when members like me promote such things as the dowel stick to spank the errant techies. (No matter how good the entertainment might be!) These kinds of people can only be made by the challenges of New York City! LOLOLOL

Dear "OF" - These facts are old and acknowledged by most as you state, i.e. that forumites aren't the only ones who vote on scenes and/or models; that the number of people who comment on the forum is a small minority of the site's membership; and that management takes all sorts of metrics into consideration when deciding what models to retain and which to cut loose. This latter point was explained to us several years ago by a former member of management, webmonkey. But to understand it one would need a degree in statistics - lol!! The other thing you should know is that the number of forumites who comment on the forum is a very small part of the forum membership itself.

Dear prodigal: Not only are those who comment on the forum the vocal minority but the vocal minority of a minority of a minority (see comments to old fart above). And I would submit to you that those who post in the comments section of the scene page are an even smaller minority than those who post on the forum. That's been a hallmark of this forum since I joined almost 6 years ago and which was passed on to me by mikey, tampa and others whom I call our "founding fathers". But when you say that comments from the vocal minority are "way off course from the non-posters {sic} opinion, that is not accurate; for this reason - since the opinions of non-posters are obviously not posted we have no way of knowing what their opinions would be. You are assuming that they would all be positive for the scene which would support your statement. But perhaps they would be overwhelmingly negative in which case your presumption doesn't hold up. But we'll never know since they are non-posters.

Dear mikey: I venture with trepidation to correct one of the founding fathers, but I would submit that the ratings whether they be the ones you cite here or any ratings on the site do not reflect all members who view scenes, but rather all viewers who cast a vote for the scene whether or not they post comments on the forum and/or the comment section of the scene page. And speaking of ratings, going back to prodigal's post, he cited the 4.38 rating this scene had at the time he posted. Just a few minutes ago it was 4.39. He implied that this rating showed that the scene was better than, and showed a disconnect with the (what he considered to be the negative) opinions expressed by the so-called vocal minority. Well, numbers are funny things - they can be construed several different ways. If you look at 4.39 as a number out of a 5.0 rating system, many might think that is pretty good. But if you look at 4.39 in relation to the ratings of other scenes as viewed using the highest rating filter, then you could imply that scene is less than stellar. If you look at scenes from the "most highly rated" metric then this scene is on the 24th page of scenes, about 360th down the list. You're not winning a crystal dick award with those numbers.- lol !!

Actually Stowe, as I was typing the words, that ratings, " reflect all members who view scenes and not just the folks who post here in forumland", I was aware that not all viewers and members necessarily do vote, but with the vote box right there, and as it takes no real effort, I would have to imagine that a paying member would take three seconds to let management know if they liked or didn't like what they are paying for to watch. My point was not technically correct, but meaning that the votes are not just from the "vocal minority", but represent all paying members, However, you are technically correct that it only indicates what the people who vote think, as one cannot read people's minds, and only management has access to the numbers of "hits" on scenes and the private messages and emails sent to management as well.

Also one note about the "comment" section on the scene pages. At one time, the comment page was the "wild west" of Broke Straight Boys It's funny that as much as I was into the forum, I hardly noticed that page and as of today, I have NEVER personally made a comment there. But there were some outrageous, rude and crude comments made there. But eventually management "cleaned up" that area, and it is now obviously heavily monitored and sanitized so it only reflects positive or neutral comments.

But again I thank and commend Mark for his own and his instructing his staff to keep this forum as open and free as any owner could possibly be, in allowing us to speak our minds right here, even if it is negative to himself and his company.

That's not exactly what I was wondering about Johnny? I think most people stay logged into the site and forum, that's why if Mikeyank is at work, his computer is stilled logged onto the forum. I tend to only log onto the forum when I want to post or see an attachment that's not available other wise. Which actually may be the answer to my question: When you are logged into the Forum: you may be logged in as a member. When you are only logged into the site, maybe that's what it means as a guest?
