Really Jason?

And what about Rosa Parks? If Chick-fil-a took a stance that black people should sit in the back of the bus. Such were the days.

Would you respect their right to have their own beliefs and opinions too?

Why the double standard for gays?

This company speaks about family values. As if gay people are not part of a family, can't start one themselves. Jesus Christ preaches love, not hatred.

While I agree with Jason, that the owners of Chick-fil-a are as entitled to their opinion as anyone else, we have already seen what happens when one ignorant man convinces people that a certain segment of the population is less than human and undeserving of basic human rights. How far a step is it from gays not being able to marry, to blacks or Latinos? How about if you're not blond and blue eyed? Do you think the world would stand by and do nothing, if it were blacks or Jews or women who were being subjugated? Again.

False prophet

Dan Cathy of Chic-a-fil is entitled to his gay hate. And if he does not like Gay marriage he is entitled to say so. If you don't agree with something, or disapprove... just say it.

But when people bring God in it... God says this, God says that... How can Dan Cathy speak for God? Did God visited Chick-a-fil?

I read the bible too. Guess what... Jesus Christ did not say one bad word about gays! Though in Dan Cathy's bible you can read why rich people will not enter the Kingdom of God. Ever heard Christians bashing rich people?

It's Dan Cathy that does not like gays. He should leave God out of it!

Not sure how I feel about this... This store is about 10 or 15 minutes from where I live. While I think vandalism is terrible, (maybe not as bad as hatred, but bad, nonetheless...) I think its great the way the vandal used the brands own imagery to get his or her point across!

The silver lining, perhaps, is that they are in a minority. Most companies that serve the general public wouldnt trumpet the owners personal views in such a pety fashion. Companies like Google, Microsoft, Starbucks (the list goes on) have progressive views and know that gays and lebians are key to their human resources/talent, investors and customers and court them carefully. Chick-fil-a just looks foolish. They miss out on talented employees, rich investors and non fobic customers. l enjoy my choice to not patronize these bozos, and I wont be alone.

Demand details

Alan Turing hacked the German coding machine Enigma. Saved lots of life in World War II. He watched cows, noticed the variations in their skin patterns. He was the first man that noticed that mathematics could explain those; biology these days uses math.

Yes and this war hero Alan Turing was given the choice by a judge: go to prison or take hormone injections. Because he was gay. And after a year or so he killed himself. Gay hatred killed this genius. He was a a beautiful mind too. Sad example Miss D.

Remember the movie "a beautiful mind" a Hollywood production about the schizophrenic scientist John Forbes Nash Jr. Well the guy is gay. But not in the American movie. They changed him into straight.

These homofoobs are everywhere. And they abuse God. Pretend they know God in person. Guess what? God is spirit; male and female. He did not 'create man and woman', he created every single spirit man and woman. The bible gets often abused.

You should stop people that pretend to speak on behalf of God. Ask them in detail what God told them!

precisely what I was trying to say. I respect their right to have their opinion, I very disappointed they felt it necessary to take a public stance on it.

Actually, I'm about to do what I think everyone needs to do if they want this to go away, and that's just to....

shut up!

Chick-fil-A is not the only big company that's run/owned by outspoken Christians - look at Tyson Foods, or Hobby Lobby, or Interstate Batteries all are run by people that agree with the Cathy's and is there any outpouring of ....well, anything on them? No. Why not? Because their CEO's didn't get on the radio or TV and just recently verbalize their OPINION about a SOCIAL TOPIC. But Dan Cathy does it, and now Chick-fil-A is in a giant social controversy, and essentially getting MILLIONS OF DOLLARS OF FREE ADVERTISING IN THE MEDIA AND EVERYWHERE ELSE (like this forum) because people can't keep their mouths SHUT! It seems like no one can have an opinion anymore, and say it, without it geting plastered all over the place if its "controversial".

I'm gay, 43 years old, and I'm still trying to glean the emotion of "hate" from the statement of "I disagree with gay marriage". Sounds pretty neutral to me. Now, if Mr. Cathy was seething with some kind of rage when he said it, different story, but I'm sure he wasn't. He probably spoke it in a normal tone, as part of a civil and intelligent interview. How is it that so much (I won't say all, since I'm part of it, and am not buying into it) of the LGBT community is whipping itself into a frenzy over this bengin statement and pulling the emotion of "hate" out of it?? And then if you want to actually go so far as apply that emotion to that statement, then it just gets applied to the man as well, and his company...... How??? They "HATE?" You know its just like saying the word "fuck" so much.....or most any other swear word....its been used by the LGBT community to smear people who state a simple opinion that its lost its meaning. Chick-fil-A EMPLOYS hundreds if not thousands of gays and lesbians in its company......how is that the same company hates them???? No, it just has an opinion that conflicts, that's all. Its not hate, its different, and since when was different hate?

I really need to shut up, because what I'm really doing is giving Chick-fil-A more free advertising.....

This chain has always been located in primarily conservative areas. So the strategy seems a poor one if they are interested in growth, as growth will be in less conservative areas. (New England, NorthWest, Europe, Canada, metros) Chains like this must grow at an ever increasing rate to make it go. To me, the beefs from the left pointing out their out-of-mainstream views held by the younger demographic on gay marriage is a favor, they are blind to the swift change in public views, and their own bottom line. Their loss, and they will pay for painting themselvs with it. Pandering to a shrinking older white christian conservative demographic is just like drinking poison for a company of this scale and growth ambition. The policy, demographics and economics should crush their ambitions. What u think?

I have never found that shutting up or staying silent about something you are passionate about is the right choice. It's not free publicity. It all has a price. When people suggest silence as an answer I just think about the poem First they came… by Martin Niemöller. I totally respect your way of doing it...to each his own...but to me reposting on my blog and engaging in conversations with people is how I'm working through it. If I said nothing, perhaps my Father would've eaten there...before I told him about the issue he was clueless. I'm doing my part by getting the people in my life to no longer patronize the place.

Just 2 more of my ¢.
