I have read that the guy behind the camera is named 'johnny', then read somewhere else that the name is 'bobby'. I fall back to my standard name for new guys. fng (fucking new guy) or just the new guy, until I am sure I know his name.
because I forget names or because I hearing backstories, but the fact that the fng comes across as if he is meeting the guys for the first time is refreshing. the sound is very good. once the underwear is off, I would enjoy the action and the camera work more if directions were less audible or more infrequent.
now tate as the first one on Broke Straight Boys 3.0, will experience the love/hate that comes with new things. (like my smartphone). ask paul about my thoughts on shit throwing.
this could be the start of a happy relationship.
more to come, I am sure

He introduced himself on the 3some scene as Johnny. I agree another1 about the chatting with the models, I like him doing that. Maybe during the scene he could probably lighten up a bit, but considering what we indured during the BSB2 era I think he'll turn out just fine. If more veteran members comment more positive about the changes happening it will get better (we've seen it). This could settle down the new members down a bit and not be so verbally abusive.

I was going through some of my downloaded inventory of scenes from various sites. I came across one batch taken from a site where, the director sounded very much like "Johnny" and the scenes were shot in a one-on-one setting. (camera-man/director model/models) much like these. Interestingly, the director's style was almost identical and even though there wasn't complete verbiage throughout the "action"(there was some) there was also a post "action" interview with the director and model/models on the couch clad in towels ( after their shower). hummmmm! Interesting I thought!

Someone on the scene page also commented that he thought he recognized the director's voice and style. I am sure that the gay porn industry is a relatively small community, and so it wouldn't surprise me if Mark has hired someone from within the industry. I suppose at some point Mark will comment on the latest changes here.

I agree Another1. Johnny or Fng could be the start of something really good and refreshing for the site. Change can be difficult to adjust to at first. But it can also be a very god thing in the long run. :)

Having visiting many sites over the years, and turning to Broke Straight Boys several times, I think the quality of videos/models/production during 2013, for me, was the best yet. However, I respectively disagree with comments posted above about the new director. The mostly hostile rampage on the bulletin board shows a powerful distaste for the swarmy, aggressive style that has suddenly appeared. I don't know how Tate endured it, twice. Aggressive, negative questioning, before (and during!) sex seems a major turnoff.

The new directors name is Johnny and yes he has been in the industry for some time. I have personally known him for several years now and he is a very professional guy that is certainly an asset to our BluMedia family. We all have our different styles while shooting porn and you can see that Johnny has his own contributions as well. Last month was our first month with Johnny and upon doing post interviews with the models I didn't receive any complaints at all. The models have told me that they really like his style while shooting and that he makes them feel very comfortable. He does have a way with teasing the guys from time to time but the guys seem to enjoy that as they say it sets their minds at ease while filming.

I am sure that there may be tweaks every now and then but we anticipate the quality of our scenes to go up under the new direction. Our member feedback is always very important to us during these times as we weight that in as we make our decisions as to the direction of the site.

I totally agree and this is almost exactly what I was trying to say on the other thread. I'm completely open to some new changes in the scenes and a new director could be a really good thing. This type of direction could really help the models to relax and ultimately preform better. I'm excited but mark should really step in and fully explain everything to put all the members minds at ease cause it is a little confusing to have a new director with no warning at all.

I think the quality of the scenes has been really good this year too! But I don't really think that I'd characterize the reaction on this board as "mostly hostile" or a "rampage"; I'd say it's been mixed with the people who don't like the new director being more vitriolic than the people who like him. There's nothing unusual about that.

As for Tate, I really do think that he dealt with the director just fine because, like Ian (and Cage Kafig and Damien and Paul in the other scene), he's a professional who's good at his job. Nothing unusual about that either.

There was no formal announcement as we still have scenes not released from the past director. This is certainly a tricky situation as if it were released earlier then you would have some that are quick to judge the new directors work. Of course if you wait (as we have) you have some that feel that we should have announced sooner. During the next month or so, you will see scenes from both the past director and the current one. This allows everyone to gradually transition in to the new direction. I hope that this helps to clarify our thought process.

I am curious what Johnny's new direction will be. I joined the site due to the raw believably straight guys that David often "tricked" into gay sex, and watching their journeys as they kept coming back supposedly only for the money and not wanting to admit how good it all felt.

Clay's style while popular on the forum was not for me with the pansexual boys starting their scenes with gentle kissing as they began to make love. I wonder if Johnny's style will be more like the original concept of the site or perhaps a combination of the two. I am curious and interested to see what the "new direction" will be.

so much in decision making comes down to something like asking would one prune be too few or would three prunes be too many?
sha, thank you for giving us some insight into the process .

1. Meaning no disrespect to you at all, sha, but Mark as the owner of the site should have been the one who announced the change in directors, presuming of course that he is the one who let Clay go and hired Johnny.

2. I'm sure the models would only give positive feedback since the director plays a major role in their being used and how frequently. But in the Ian/Tate scene, Ian's facial expressions during Johnny's interrogation was not one of unbounded joy. Sometimes actions do speak louder than words.

3. As I wrote on another thread, Johnny's teasing and attempts at being funny come across as his being a wiseass who is trying to embarrass the models. Also in his first scene with Tate's solo, his doing that stupid you can sit, you can stand routine was down right disrespectful to Tate. Again as I wrote on another thread, Mark has to smooth out Johnny's rough edges. What worked for him in his other places of employ, might not work here at Broke Straight Boys As we all like to say, it is a unique site in the web porn industry.

4. You guys in mgmt keep saying member feedback is so important to you, but that is hard to believe.

Mikeyank; the director I thought sounded like Johnny, and had a similar, if not identical style actually did use a combination of the two styles in many scenes! Through the dialogue you would get to know a bit more about the models. If the model was returning, the dialogue was reflective of catching up. Now, I am not saying that it is the same director but, if it is, he generally had very good results with his models, getting them to feel at ease. I actually shared with you in a pm about a 3 scene episode called "Sandbox Buddies" that I thought you might appreciate a while back. That was the director of those scenes. It will interesting if we something of an "after scene" interview (which was common on that site) but something we witnessed here on Broke Straight Boys, (under Clay's direction ) with Skyler and Romeo's first scene together. It will be interesting (in a good way) if this is the new direction! Even better, if this is the new director! Again, the style seems very familiar to me. *In a positively good way!

Again, sha this explanation makes no sense and flies in the face of your earlier assertion about members' feedback. Here is the professional way this should have gone down instead of members hearing a new voice and wondering if it was a new director or Clay was on vacation. Mark should have posted an announcement along these lines:

"I am pleased to announce that effective (insert date) Blu Media has retained the services of Johnny as our Director. He has considereable experience in the porn industry and we look forward to his bringing to Broke Straight Boys a new perspective that will build on the success which the site has enjoyed from its founding. As you know, we film scenes ahead of time so for the next month or so we will see Johnny's scenes interspersed with those remaining which were produced by Clay. We know our members will share with us their views on this latest iteration of Broke Straight Boys Be assurred that we want only one thing, to continue improving our site to please as many of our members as much as possible."

That could have ameliorated some of the instant criticism that you hoped to avoid by saying nothing, but which did just the opposite. You guys need some good pr and customer relatkions advice.

the situation remains the same, Broke Straight Boys 2.0 is becoming Broke Straight Boys 3.0. management decisions and how they are reported is not generally something I give great attention. when I do pay attention, I look to after-action reports. in two or three months I would like to see where we are.
if I could have my way, I would like a fair mix of bb and condom episodes. the use of condoms is less about safety than it is about the comfort level of viewers like the poster. I like that sha said a fair mix is a goal. I trust sha and believe he and blumedia are interested in the opinions and the entertainment of the members. I know that no one will get everything they want, but as adults we have to accept that fact.

As Sha stated we have not made an announcement yet because we still have old scenes from the old producer. Changing is never an easy process and yes we do need all the input we can get.

Johnny is not trying to embarrass the models at all. He is helping bring out their personality. He is one of the best in the industry and we are helping guide him. Please be patient with us as we go through this tough transition.

Thanks,
Mark

There are many ways to direct male/male porn. Personally, I appreciate skilled camera work, handsome men and lots of kissing. All of the rest, banter, bareback, romance is icing. I have watched Broke Straight Boys for several years and have an extensive collection that I enjoy frequently. I only am a member of this one site and so do not have a lot to compare. I will miss Johnny Forza immensely but will keep my membership here because the actors are very good and the sex is wonderful. Do I need to say more? I am a very patient person.
Thank you to all who put on such a fine product,
Gerald

Nice to see a positive outlook on this site. Thanks Gerald!!!

Thank you Gerald for speaking up also. So many times when the site is criticized, it's easy to lose track of all the good things going on in here. We do have a very good thing going here and most of us know it. :thumbup1: And those in mgmt and operations of the site have much to be proud of here. :thumbup1:
