Baseball

C'mon now though. Wil is wanted. Just not the whole team maybe. You know that if he showed up at your door looking to "play ball", you would have a very hard time turning him away. You'd be having a hard time anyway, but that's a different story. haha
Sorry Tampa I don't feel the same way as you and Mikey do about the "bug eye boy" lol I would turn him away.

Jacob deGrom

The Yankees and Mets played their annual "subway series" this week, with the Mets outslugging the Yankees in the two games at Yankee Stadium, followed by the Yankees shutting out the Mets 4-0 and 1-0 at Citi Field. While the Yankees also used a first time rookie pitcher named Chase Whitley last night, it was the Mets' 25 year rookie pitcher named Jacob deGrom who caught my eye. He is 6'4" 180 lbs, long and lanky with long brown hair, which turns me on, being a child of the 60's and the hippy generation.

I am not a Mets fan in anyway but I have to admit that Jake deGrom is a cutie. :001_cool:

I waited until Mikeyank was safely asleep, but my Seattle Mariners once again crushed the shit out of the NY Yankees 10-2 in NYC.

I'm awake now, and it was like a nightmare. Right now, my beloved Yankees "suck" and not in the way that I like to think of the word "suck".

I'm right there with you Mikey.

My Rays are in freefall right now. :/ It's looking like a lost season unless they catch on fire very quickly. At the moment they suck. My boy Wil Myers has been injured and is on the DL. There hasn't been much to cheer about down here at Tropicana Field. lol The best commentators can say about things down here is how not so bad the Rays are doing in comparison to our whole AL East division. "At least we're only 5,6 games back from the lead in our division." "We're only X number of games behind the Yankees." That kind of thing. Now we've entered double digits away from the lead. The beasts of the East have been declawed so far this year. The Blue Jays are doing well of course. But every other team is performing far below expectations in the AL-E.

Well, guys -

I certainly don't live and die for baseball, like some of you do. (I'm an opera-fan, and I live and die for THAT, but whoever wins the World Series, I'll live ;-)

However, my Dear Old Dad is 82 years old, and HE loves baseball, as much as all of YOU do. And wow, he loves this game. I have very fond memories of being out in the field, when the World Series was being played, when I was a kid, and we were taking off the crop, of wheat, or barley - - - my Uncle ran the combine, and my Dad drove truck, and I rode along, and "helped". (I did nothing.)

And the air was crisp and cold, and we would do our work, but in between. . . under the cold, crisp, skies, and the Northern Lights - - - Dad would always have the World Series tuned in on the truck-radio. And I was just amazed to hear those crowds from New York, or Los Angeles, or wherever it was. . . rising up and CHEERING, when someone got on base. I was interested. My Daddy was ENTHRALLED.

Dad NEVER misses a Blue Jays game, on television. EVER. Maybe there is a bit of national or family pride involved in this, I don't know? But he loves his Jays. And Dad was NEVER so happy as in those glory days of the early '90's, when the Jays won back-to-back World Series titles. (To this day, Daddy thinks Mr. Cito Gaston is the most brilliant man, on the planet ;-)

I hope all you guys have a great season, and your teams will fare well! But, I would love to see just one more title for the Blue Jays, for my Dear Old Dad, because it would make him incredibly, incredibly, happy. And that's my whole stake, in the game of baseball ;-)))

"A" XOXOXOXOXO

P.S. This will piss Mike off INCREDIBLY, but (even as little as I ever cared about sports, in general): my Mother (who liked football better, anyway) always told me, " 'A', NEVER cheer for the YANKEES - not just for your DAD's sake, but for MINE! They have too much MONEY, and they BUY trophies. . . while other teams, earn them!!! (Mom always cheered for the underdogs.;-)

Actually Ambi, the Yankees do spend a lot of money on their team, but I only wish that the Steinbrenner family's money could buy world championship trophies, however since 2000, they only have one in 2009, and the 2014 team is currently floundering, while your dad's Toronto Blue Jays are currently in first place in the American League East, six games ahead of the third place Yankees, so while payroll is important, much as with love, money can not always buy happiness. But I am pleased for your dad that his team is doing so well.

Thanks, Mike. That's very gracious, of you. I will pass on your good wishes, to Dad.

Dear Ambi,

You just gave me a reason to cheer for the Blue Jays this season. haha If my Rays don't get it together and it because obvious that this is not going to be their year, I will secretly wish the Blue Jays well. But shhh... Don't tell anyone.

If my Rays don't get it together :

Well they didn't Tampa!!! I'll give you guys some slack though, you were playing a mighty Seattle team lol Next up Mikeyanks Yankees in Seattle. We beat them at Yankee stadium, and not sure of the outcome playing here. I'm sure I'll have Teriyaki with Ichiro when he's here.

Why don't you go out to dinner after Wednesday's game and invite Ichiro's teammate, Masahiro Tanaka who will be 10-1 after he beats you and Cano and your lot. lol

Tanaka came through with flying colors pitching a shutout into the ninth inning, only to have it spoiled by old friend Robby Cano with a two run shot, but still a complete game victory with eleven strikeouts for Tanaka.

And the Yanks have won the first two games of the series. Seattle does real well playing in New York, but the Seattle air is good for the Yankees so far. One more game tonight in your city Peter.

Nobody cares about the Mariners here, the Seahawks are the Superbowl Champs!!! lol
