Absolutely disgusted!

I value human life. one death at the hands of a mad man or an angry man is too many. cannot blame our present condition on the our constitutional protections. as a nation settled by people filled with distrust it is a wonder that 2 and quarter century have passed.
the fix for this gun issue is not to rewrite the constitution, but rather to get 218 votes, in the house and 51 (60) votes, in the senate
to return the law to where is was in the 80's. it's not the constitution, but the lawmakers.
the choice cannot be between liberty and security. security is expected under any government. too much security is a monitored prison cell. our liberty is what us apart. however, liberty without security would be the law of the jungle or mob rule.

I agree with you on the gun ownership Ambi. Sad to say that the body count will have to go much higher before anything consequential is done to change the gun laws here.

Thanks for understanding me on this one, Tamps. I love and respect the United States, and its role in history. While it may seem like a shallow or SILLY thing to say, I have so many dear friends who are Americans, and think the world of them! So. . . I was meaning no disrespect, at all. Only FEAR, and LOVE. . . .

However, while (as one who taught his students) the wiles of politicians, for years): I completely understand the SHEER POWER the NRA possesses . . . it sort of curdles my BLOOD - even more than some of Lady Macbeth's most chilling lines, in the "Scottish play". And I so want my baby, Mr. K., to make it out of there, alive. He lives in a very violent neighborhood in Milwaukee, and this is NOT an "abstract" question, at all, to me.

(The sun is rising; I must depart ;-)

Another1, Sir:

Indeed, you may (and must not, because of your nationality) blame death upon your constitution. (Which, albeit that it is not a constitution I would choose - is yet renowned, around the globe, for its humanity, and liberality.)

No, you're right. INSTEAD, you must blame those legislators of yours who fail to keep the BALANCE, between fair freedom. . . and PEACE, and good government. The ancien regime in France lost its foothold, which supported the establishment of your Republic, was unable to keep its footing precisely because it lost this balance ;-) All regimes which fail to feed and protect their people, are doomed to fail, eventually. History teaches us this.
