Would you unfriended, block and blast them on your fb just because your political views are different?

Asking this question because a fb friend screen shot my fb post blasted me on his own fb page then unfriended me and block me just because our political party's are different.

What does blast mean? I don't generally do anything on Facebook so I can't imagine I'd do that, but at this point in my life, if you still call yourself a Republican, I feel like I can dismiss you outright.

I want to be open to other points of view, but the Republican party has no redeeming qualities. Their supposed dedication to limited government, if it was ever really a thing, is pretty limited to keeping regulations that prevent harm at bay so as not to interfere with the extremely wealthy. Otherwise I can fairly easily place them into one of a few not mutually exclusive categories: bigots, religious fanatics, and the selfish/greedy (the last of which includes my own brother).

The shift toward fascism and brazen corruption with the current system has just exacerbated my difficulty in seeing the nuance. Humans are infinitely complex, prone to all kinds of rationalization, tribalism, etc., so I'm sure there are plenty of ways around my condemnation, but I feel like we are at the point if you call yourself a Republican, if you don't want me to dismiss you at best, you need to justify yourself.

I have friends that are Republican, we don't talk politics anymore, or if we do (I don't start the conversation), they get an earful from me LOL. Then they usually counter with "stop watching CNN" 😆😂 and I'll say "stop watching Fox entertainment" 🤮

I made a post from JD Vance event but only went because my husband is going to be next major
of our small town. But we didn't go their to rally because die heart JD Vance fans or Trump fans we went so my husband can make connections to other politicians to try to help out our small town but I want to be very clear we are Republican due to because our small town is full of Republicans and we for first responders, volunteer firefighters ,military ect but we both be happy to go to democrat rally if we were invited t we dont care if you red or blue but we care about respect and helping our small town get to be better town like its old days.

You are a Republican for your allegiance to firefighters, first responders, and the military. What about those things are Republican?

Are you for dismantling democracy? Limiting voting rights? Cutting taxes for the wealthy while dismantling safety nets for everyone else? Making women's health deadly? Sweeping race-based incarceration and deportation? Apathy towards the ongoing damage to our world? I would not be able to be friends with someone who had any of those views, or gives tacit support by aligning themselves to those who do and have the power to effect them into our government.

I get that some places you have to be a particular party to win in certain areas. (How does a gay man win the mayorship in a small town with only Republicans?) But if you lie down with dogs, you get fleas.

For those of us who do care, it's not about red vs. blue. It's democracy vs. oligarchy. Empathy vs. selfishness.

I don't love the Democratic party. It is what it is. Deeply flawed, overly cautious, and still too reliant on neoliberal values. But in our two-party system it is the only real viable alternative to the increasingly fascistic "Grand Old Party."

BTW, if you do want to show you are open to treating the "blue" team with respect, maybe you avoid using "democrat" as an adjective. It isn't one.

Sorry you kinda miss the point of this post saying I don't care what political party you are for both parties done some terrible things they things Republicans do I dont agree with like they want to take my marriage . Truly feel no matter what party you in that both parties are liars and only in it for themselves in long run heck Obama did and Trump did it . Point of post is discussion do political party you in should cause a friendship to break just because political party you part of I strongly feel this should not matter.

You did ask the question would I block or unfriend just because of different political views. I argue that political views are a core aspect of a person's personality and values. I choose my friends based on those things (not sure what else you would). I can compartmentalize to an extent; I can live with disagreement about any number of things. But I cannot call someone a friend who does not have a baseline of decency, and bothsidesism nonsense aside, the Republican Party in its current state, does not reach that threshold.

So yes, I would do it for "just" that reason.
