Zeno Kostas

I am not as huge a Zeno Kostas fan as you are and others are as well Johnny. But I totally agree that young people should and do have the right to "let their freak flag fly", as we said back in my young man days. Young styles are for their generation and not for us. Sure I still find things that I perfer, the way, "we used to do it", but I keep my mouth shut as I don't want to sound like my father did about young guys with long hair and bell bottom jeans, etc.

And as far as some of the current Broke Straight Boys models needing work on improving their bodies, I agree with you there too my friend!

Well I have to say I really like Zeno Kostas and have since he first appeared. But that said I do agree with you sir that I occasionally have to remind myself that our fathers were not happy with the long hair and "goofy" looks we had when I was Zeno Kostas's age. I still remember my mother not allowing me out of the house wearing blue jeans since I was not going to work in the yard but rather to a neighbor's house for lunch and to hang out with their son. Blue jeans were clothing worn only for manual labor and she did not want the neighbors thinking we were so poor we wore them for every day use!:001_tongue:

Must be a New York saying. Never heard it before. It's a tongue twister to say. lol
I looked it up on google and found this definition on "Yahoo answers":

"It was a phrase common during the hippie period in the late 1960s/early 1970s. Straight people would refer to hippies as "freaks", and the hippies then started to call themselves the same thing.

It just means be cool, dont let other people tell you how to live, and do your own thing."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was used by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young in "Almost Cut My Hair" too:
"Almost Cut My Hair"

"Almost cut my hair, it happened just the other day.
It's getting' kinda long, I coulda said it wasn't in my way.
But I didn't and I wonder why, I feel like letting my freak flag fly,
Cause I feel like I owe it to someone.

Must be because I had the flu' for Christmas and I'm not feeling up to par.
It increases my paranoia, like looking at my mirror and seeing a police car.
But I'm not giving in an inch to fear cause I missed myself this year.
I feel like I owe it to someone.

When I finally get myself together, I'm going to get down in that sunny southern weather.
And I find a place inside to laugh, separate the wheat from the chaff.
I feel like I owe it to someone."

While you and I went to college at approximately the same time Robb, somehow I think we had different experiences at my liberal arts state college in upstate New York and your college in West Virginia. lol

I'm an Arrow fan too Ertas. lol

Thanks, Tampa!!

So, that's who it is!! Honestly, I had no idea who it is or what it represented but was simply intrigued by the photo so I made a copy and today decided to switch back from the Snoopy thing (put up for the purpose of one response I was making). This one can stay for a while as I love the "suspense" it portrays to me...

I love your Avatar on the other forum also. The caption under that reads "every time you share this picture a homophobic bigot unfriends you" I just love that....

Peter (did I get the name right? lol) AND Andy (if you read this response) -

That other forum avatar I copied for two reasons:

1. My first lover/partner after I came out to my wife (the Saturday after Thanksgiving at the ripe old age of 40) was a man named Robert who I met at a Gay Fathers Support Group in the Twin Cities (and it had 1346 members from age 19 to 81). Robert and I hit if off right away - both being at the same meeting for our first time. Robert is black and this picture reminds me of him and me. I was out but he was not. But he had a condo he leased (kept secret from his wife) where we spent every chance we could together for eight months of bliss. In the end, he did not have the nerve to come out to his wife and family and I chose to not be a third wheel any longer and opted to move on. 14 months later he called me and we met and he told me he was going to tell her and could we begin anew. Alas, I was involved with someone else (with whom I had a 5 year perfect relationship but he (Randy)) is the one I have asked you if you may have encountered when you were playing on the gay softball team for which he was the pitcher after he moved to Seattle.) Anyway, the picture just reminds me of my first gay lover and how many times we were in that same embrace.

2. I put it on my facebook profile after a relative came after me when she realized I am gay and started with all the bible shit and how she was praying for me. I found the picture that is my avatar on the web. The quote is why I put it out there. I got so much support from my other friends on F/B and my aunt finally "unfriended" me as a result.

So, that is why I use it and why I picked it. Mikey had asked me about it before but I didn't go into this lengthy explanation until now.

Ok, just so you understand I am NOT intending to give any illusion that I would look like this guy!!! I can wish - but I can't do!!!

Damn - thanks for posting his pics! They just make acceptance of the aging process a little harder to accept!!! lol !

You're welcome Ertas! If it's any consolation, we're all aging. In 20 more years Steve Amell himself will not look as pretty either. lol But like many of us, he'll still be a handsome guy nonetheless.

Wowza! He is really trying to get in shape.

So I guess you are saying that Zeno Kostas could be your "boy wonder", eh Robb?
Not "could be", but "is". lol (That is to say, mine & Johnny's.) (except Friday, Saturday and Sunday, when Tampa called dibs.) (wait a minute that only leaves me and Johnny 2 days each and Tampa 3) (okay, now I got it figured out...Tampa calls dibs on Sunday and the other six are mine and Johnny's). And that's that!!! (I'm going to see if I have any pills left) lol
