Hey ~

Jon sort of got me thinking about this one, with his discussion of British soaps. . . Which I've seen from time to time, but not all that much. But in days of yore (and I mean, YORE) my sisters and I sometimes watched some of the American ones during the Christmas holidays. (When they knew all the kids were home from school, and they amplified the roles of the various teen idols, accordingly.)

I don't know if any of you sank to those sorts of televisual depths, but I did, from time to time - and I certainly wasn't watching for the plot. My favourite soap stars were. . . .

1.) Thom Bierdz, The Young and the Restless. Played Phillip Chancellor the 'somethingth' - tragic, alcoholic, always weeping, always off to rehab. He didn't age well, but he sort of fit the bill for me, back in the day.

2.) Austin Peck, The Days of our Lives. Played Austin Reed, the incredibly dumb, perpetually loving, but inevitably blindsided and cuckolded husband. (Somehow, I don't think it was too tough for him.) But true to his name, he had nice "pecs" :)

3.) Bryan Dattilo, The Days of our Lives. Played Lucas Horton, the nasty, conniving, murderous little bitch. The first time my sister saw him on-screen, she called out to me. . . "Oh AAAAAAAAAAA. . . you'd better come quick: here's a cute little Tom Cruise clone, for you." (That was before TC was famous for chaining Katie Holmes to an e-meter, and sick s*** like that).

And finally. . . (I need a separate segment, for this). . . . .

Yes, finally. . . .

4.) But really #1 - is my darling Jensen Ackles, from The Days of our Lives. Played the kind and saintly blond hero, Eric Brady. Stupid role; gorgeous guy. Went on to silly but fun roles in series like Dark Angel, Smallville, and Supernatural. One of the few blonds who has truly driven your "A" to distraction. I have a friend who attends the press junket the networks host for newspaper-folk in L.A. each year; and I have commanded her to kiss Jensen for me, every year for the past decade. I finally got my wish, in 2014 ;-)

Yours nostalgically,
"A" XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO

Ambi you know supernatural is still on don't you? season 10 I think and boy do I love the Winchester boys! I'm more fond of Sam though

I had a girlfriend in college that actually built her class schedule around being able to watch All My Children and General Hospital. I watched them for a few months, but it was long before the shirtless hunk phase hit daytime soaps.

Thanks, Ambi for the pics!!! You say your favorite, Jansen Ackles, is blonde, but he's not in the pics or the YouTube clip. ?????

Yes, I do. But I bought a reduced cable package, so as to spend more time on Jason Matthews! LOL!

Jeez guys, don't get me started on other series, I'm not yet up to date on Shameless ha ha

Jon: these series are in no way as good as Shameless. And I will leave you my whole collection of Shameless ~ U.S. DVD's in my will, if you like.

You're absolutely right, Stripe. When Jensen was younger, on Days of Our Lives, he was often presented as blond - whether because he was quite young at the time, or whether with the help of ladies-in-waiting like "Miss Clairol", I don't know. Now, he presents as much darker. At his blondest, in earliest youth - he really has light-brown hair.

I'm exploiting one convention, and one prejudice - because I am not a blond-lover, particularly. Not so much in Europe, where some real blonds still exist - like ICE-BLOND Scandinavians and Ukrainians, et. al. - but often in the U.S. popular press, anyone who doesn't have VERY dark hair (even up to, and including, people with chestnut-brown locks) are counted as "blond". (This is wrong, and I apologize.)

From the opposite end of the spectrum, my sisters and I (for whatever reason; my sisters are genuine blonds, and I had strawberry-red hair) have always only dated brunets, by which we mean people with JET-BLACK, RAVEN HAiR. And Jensen certainly isn't one of those.

But that isn't fair to blond-lovers, because the coloration is skewed!

"A" XOXOXOXOXOXO

P.S. For true blond-lovers, REAL blonds are hard to find, these days. Sweden and Ukraine are the best bets, I find.

Jon,

Mr. K. is a very special man. And, indeed, cuter and hotter than any man ever seen on these pages. (Though Jason is CLOSE.) Absolutely, I am looking hard for a good man (beautiful and kind) fit to care for Mr. K. when I am gone - I am 49, and he is 26 - and if you wish to be entered in the running, I will certainly mention it to K. Perhaps we will come to visit you in England, one day.

I hope, however that my passing the love of my life to you (or someone other who will be good and kind to him). . . will not be for a while, yet ;-) I have a couple of deeds of love and devotion, yet to accomplish ;-)

Ambi, 49 is no age, unless you are seriously ill at present, and you can be seriously ill at any age, including 26. There was a guy in my local pub who passed on 2 years ago aged 96, so hey you've a long way yet.

Hey, Stripe ~

Further to your note, I have been searching up and down the Internet, to find a REAL, NATURAL, blond, for you. (Blondness is, as you know, a recessive gene, and they are exceedingly scarce. *Geneticists tell us, there may very well be NO MORE real blonds, or redheads, a hundred years hence.)

But I think I found you one, on CB, today. His address is: https://chaturbate.com/blondmax/

P.S. The blondness in this one is fake - but you might like it, anyway. . . .

Jon, my Mother died at 54 ~ so I am taking nothing, for granted. If I match her longevity - an aspiration which I signally don't deserve to attain - I have precisely five years, left. And my maladies are countless - from sarcoidosis, to venous insufficiency. When one of my legs erupted, in great cascades of blood, two years ago (I put it in a garbage bag, and took a taxi to the E.R.): the doctor who cauterized the wound said, "MY GOD, man! I've never seen legs this bad, in anyone under 70!" ;-)

Not to mention, to quote one of my heroes, the inimitable Quentin Crisp (in whose honour the rock/pop musician "Sting" wrote the song, "An Englishman in New York"): "All the boys at the school I attended aspired to be policemen, or firemen. I aspired simply to be. . .a chronic INVALID."
