Hey Everyone,

I was just taking note of the fact that the most recent highest numbered video I have downloaded (With Jake and Ethan) is number 2063. So I wondered if we had already reached episode number 2,000. To figure that out, it's not as easy as it might seem. (Spoiler alert!) We haven't gotten there yet. lol Apparently all of the BTS vids are counted in the same order as actual sex scenes. Which is still accurate in the sense that even BTS vids are legitimate videos offered to the members. Also over the course of several years there are likely some vids (be they BTS's or porn) that were filmed but never released due to some quality or technical problems. So I did some inconclusive sleuthing to try to figure it all out. (And yes. I know I need to get a life. hahaha)

The 1,000th porn video of the site was celebrated with the release on 4/13/14 of an orgy with Tyler White (Bless his heart. MHRIP), and also featuring Paul Canon, Damien Kyle, Kaden Alexander and Dakota Ford

https://members.brokestraightboys.com/play/MTIwOQ==/bareback-orgy-action-1000th-episode

The number of that video rather than being an actual 1000, was/is actually 1209. So if we take the most recently released and highest numbered video I know of at this time...which is 2063, and subtract 1209 from that...it comes down to a difference of 854 new scenes since 2014. Still shy by what might appear to be only 146 more scenes before we reach the 2,000 mark. But we've also had many more BTS and the "Getting To Know Model X" videos in the last 4 years. So that pushes the 146 number up even higher. I still think it's below 200 though. My best guess is that if all goes well we'll reach it by the spring or summer of 2020.

Another spoiler alert here is that while I don't believe at all that there is any attempt to deceive...the release dates of the vids from the earliest days of the site, I don't believe are accurate. When I joined in 2008 I'm all but certain that when I first viewed the older scenes from the archives, the earliest vid of the site was actually released in 2003. Not 2006.

Some newer members, (as opposed to some of us dinosaurs who have been here a decade or more, lol) may wonder why a site whose first video aired on April 6th of 2006 (or quite possibly 2003) took a full 8-11 years to reach the 1,000 scenes milestone... While the site seems poised to reach that second 1,000 scene milestone in only 5 and a half years. As a bit of Broke Straight Boys history and trivia, during the first years of the site, including all of 2008 when I joined in October and most of 2009...we only got one new scene update per week. Just one. haha We looked forward to it every Friday night. At midnight. haha So if you were too tired from a day or a week at work, and couldn't stay up that late...you had to wait for a convenient time on Saturday to watch it. The good old days! haha :)

The start of the forum in 2008 was a Godsend for members and for the site itself for member retention purposes. With only one new episode per week I figured I would just stay for a month, watch all the videos I could in that one month, and then quit until a later time. I was so computer illiterate that I didn't even know how to download vids back then. I thought my only option was to watch them in streaming format. lol But no doubt many of us members figured that with 48 updates per year, why not just quit and wait another 6 months to a year or so to come back and see the newer videos?

The forum gave us a reason to really want to stay with the site during those days. We talked about our personal lives. We talked about politics. We talked about philosophy, religion, sex. Everything you're not supposed to talk about at cocktail parties. haha We talked about our excitement and anticipation for the upcoming release of the weekly video. We talked a lot about the Broke Straight Boys bonus sites. Legitimate friendships were formed over an artificial, ethereal new-ish medium of the internet.

I'm curious if management might give us a better approximation of where we sit on reaching the 2,000th scene. I doubt they would consider it to be a matter a state or corporate secrecy. But one never knows. haha :)

I was thinking about this recently as well when I saw the shower scene in my favorites. Does management already have plans for it, or might this be something we could give ideas for on the forums? Personally, I think a group wrestling scene with the losers bottoming would be awesome and different for the site. I'm sure there are a lot of other ideas that could be floated around before it happens. Just a thought.

September 4, 2020!

I like the way you think!

September 4, 2020!

That falls on a Friday. So at least it's possible. (That's true.) I think it's supposed to rain that night. (I'm just guessing.) So I'll try to schedule my evening free. (Maybe.)

LOL

Along the lines of highly anticipated videos...

I'm hoping that Broke Straight Boys will again offer some kind of Christmas themed video this year. Maybe some kind of Christmas themed BTS? I know that many of the models in the past have come from homes and backgrounds that were either struggling financially, or otherwise at least slightly dysfunctional in keeping with holiday traditions. Along with shall we say, sometimes a lack of feeling of warmth and unconditional love in the home.

I hope the models filming closer the holidays who may not be used to getting it at home, will feel some of that love and support of a Christmas spirit and season at a home away from home like the brand-new Broke Straight Boys house this year. It might be too much to ask to see a Norman Rockwell scene with some of the models in front of a roaring fireplace, in winter pajamas, smiling, happy, drinking hot chocolate, conversing jovially, eating cookies and opening a few presents. But a guy can dream. haha

I absolutely loved your post, Tampa. That's some nice sleuthing going on there! In true spoiler alert fashion, I can give you the actual number of scenes we have up (not including bts). I ran a query against the actual database. Drum roll, please....

SELECT*
FROM`hidden`
WHERE`active`='y'
AND`isBts`='n'

( 1,711 total, Query took 0.0076 sec)

So as of this moment we are 289 updates away from the big 2000. That is just over 96 weeks.

Just for the hell of it, here are some other numbers I ran while I was poking around in the database:

If I include the BTS then we have a total of
( 1,979 total, Query took 0.0076 sec) videos on Broke Straight Boys

And if you are curious as to how many scenes we have filmed and "in the can". That number is:
( 1,757 total, Query took 0.0078 sec) videos.

So we have 15 weeks worth of future updates (most still need to be edited though) currently. In general, we try to stay 2 months ahead on filming to have latitude should something go awry (someone gets sick, studio burns to the ground (lol) etc.) So two months is our running safety net. But, we do get a little further ahead as we head into the holidays so we can let people take off toward the end of the year.

No state secrets here :)

Cheers!
Bryce

That is very interesting information, Bryce. And it is interesting that you have 46 scenes filmed and not yet released, so many of them must go back to your old location with models from older shoots. I know that you told us that there are still several scenes with Axel, "in the can", (although not in Axel's can. lol) :smiley-sex011:

I wonder which other models have scenes filmed that are still waiting to be released. I sure hope you have a whole bunch with Jonny Cox and especially Jake that we have not yet seen.:001_tongue:

Oh my gosh! Thanks so much Bryce!!

I didn't know if I would get any response from upstairs at all. Then not only that, but you far exceeded my expectations as to how much you shared with us on actual numbers. I even half wondered if you guys might be annoyed by the questions. haha You guys could have chosen to ignore the thread and not indulge us at all.

But :thankyou::thankyou::thankyou: :biggrin:

I know at times that I/we can sometimes be tough in our critiques of individual scenes, or get riled up over model selections, rotations, straightness and what have you. But I don't want any of you guys in production or management to ever think we are not proud of the site or happy to be members here. We remain some of your biggest cheerleaders. And something like pondering when the site will reach certain industry milestones like the number of scenes filmed, the number of years in existence, etc... Those are all happy events and statistics even we members enjoy rallying behind and celebrating.

Thanks again so much for sharing the up-to-date numbers with us. :)

The number 289 gives us a much better picture of where we sit from 2000. That puts us much closer to winter of 2020 than the summer. But it could take longer. haha

I have another question I hope you'll indulge me/us in. :) Will you celebrate the 2000th scene when you have a full 2000 out of the can and posted on the site? Or just when you have that many filmed and in the can? I'm honestly not sure how the math was done on the 1000th episode. I wasn't going to try to count all the individual scenes backwards from 1000. I DO have a little bit of a life. haha

Thank you so much. I always like stats and it’s really great that you guys are so responsive and Thanks Tampa for being curious.

Now we have plenty of time to make suggestions for scene 2000! 1000 was very nice.

Any celebration would be when we have that many on the site and live for members. It's a ways away so we honestly haven't given any thought yet to it, but you've put it on the radar for us. Those big scenes with lots of performers are super expensive so we may have to start saving up now for it ;)

And it is interesting that you have 46 scenes filmed and not yet released, so many of them must go back to your old location with models from older shoots.

It looks like 9 of the 46 are from the old location including 3 of Axel. So 6 that will probably go up in the next couple of months. It looks like we have 37 scenes in the can from the new studio location. We'll start shooting again on Nov 28 :)

Thank you so much. You know how the forum junkies enjoy keeping up with these things and we all love messages from on high that definitely trump (can we still use that word?) our speculation.

I definitely love the "inside" stuff and so I thank you again Bryce. But I am still confused by the new guy Marcus Rivers coming up in a BTS as I don't remember seeing him in any grouping of new guys so I am curious if you had a "shoot week" since the Jos Alvarez card tricks and the Naked Twister group were filmed or if he is a "leftover" from the old studio or what? I am just a curious "yenta" when it comes to the behind the scenes workings here.

Obviously I was hoping you would say that the 2000th episode would be based on the number of videos posted on the site, rather than those which might still be in the can but not yet released. That does indeed make the most sense.

Yeah. Maybe you could have a bake sale every Saturday morning at the curb of the Broke Straight Boys house for the next year and a half to save up some extra funds. If you had a model or two out there selling...(cookies, cupcakes)...instead of just an 8 year old girl with her mom...I'm sure you would get a lot of repeat business. :thumbup1:

Since we have the time and distance to be able to discuss this in all hypotheticals, without egos being bruised or expectations of some being dashed one way or the other... I would say I think it's best not to be too concerned with getting the highest number of (expensive) models into one scene. And not just for the reasons of cost which you wisely allude to in a pragmatic business sense.

Scenes with multiple models are notoriously difficult both to choreograph and to film. Even on Broke Straight Boys, there have been some expensive three-ways and even four-ways that have turned out either terrible, or just not a big ratings success. Even though as I think about it, most of those multiple model scenes I think of which didn't turn out well, were mostly ruined (in my eyes) by the performances of the models themselves rather than the technical aspects of the camera work and choreography. So that's a lesson also in model selection. If there are prima donnas in the mix who will try to compete with each other in hogging the camera with overacting and histrionic outbursts, or if a reluctant model is asked to do something like rimming, and then fails to do at the moment of truth in filming...all the hard work of planning, filming, editing (and great expense) can still end in a lower rated scene.

When considering how many quality models to bring in, and how well they'll all play together on set with their various personalities...the staff and all the technicians who will be doing the actual filming on the set also need to honestly assess and consider the experience level and skill sets they have available to them at that time in 2020. Can we really make sure that the camera can be everywhere it needs to be focused on, at the appropriate moment? And not be stuck focusing on something that's becoming monotonous, while the really interesting action at that point for would-be spectators is happening (and being missed) just three or four feet away?

So there're a lot of moving pieces. But again to bring things back on point, your mention of the expense of hiring multiple models, leads me to bring up that sometimes less is more. Like, better to have only 4 who give you really good performances...than 6 or 8 who give you an overwhelming and unmanageable pile of bodies to film properly. haha :)

There was a shoot week after that, but we didn't have a lot of promo material because a mix of several factors. But there was a shoot week slipped in there ;)

Wow, to think I believed I was the only one who is a freak for stats. Just thinking first, I hope I am around in 2020, by then I am sure someone, would have developed something new, a sensor video cam to capture every movement from every angle simotamasly. Eliminating the need for a cameraman. Maybe then we may simulated models in 3D or using 4D?? I know, I do have to much time on my hands. 2 years are a long way aways.lol
