I am really excited that a federal judge found Wisconsin's ban on gay marriage to be unconstitutional. I have no intention of getting married, ever but I am so happy that gay people who want to will be able to do it. There was already a couple who were married last night and many couples are in line right now applying for a marriage license. It could be short lived because the State Attorney General is already seeking an injunction against gay marriage until he can appeal the decision. It's a step in the right direction.
There was a time when I was very proud to be from Wisconsin because we were a progressive state. The past 10 years it has been like a corporate cancer infected the state and slowly decimated the rights of women, general working class people, the poor, elderly and veterans and now they are working on taking advantage of our beautiful natural resources by allowing more and more abuse of protected lands and species. It gives me a little hope when something positive happens.
