Peter, you were welcomed to the forum by sweet Gary over four years and three months ago. Don't you Washingtonians have any manners to thank him?

But as long as Gary started this thread, I will join in. :welcome: Peter. I hope you enjoy yourself on the forum as you get to know us here. It's always nice to welcome a new forumite to our little community. lol

What a nice surprise to see that PeterH gave a bump to this Thread! I was just about to start a thread about the forum myself! Originally, I mentioned something about "The Rules of Engagement" as they pertain to the forum but, started it in the middle of a scene thread and of course, it wasn't the proper place, nor did it get the kind of exposer to the topic I had intended.

When I first came to the forum: It was a while after discovering the site itself. I would download scenes I liked and move on. I kept coming back as, there seemed to be updates more frequently than most other sites! Not to mention the fact that, there was a variety of guys I found appealing plus, more bonus material than I had ever seen on a site!

Once I started to participate in the forum, I got a warm welcome and was encouraged to share my thoughts, views and perspectives. I learned quickly that, I might not see things the same as others and was made aware of that fact rather promptly!

It's been a while now but, I still notice that when people do, "express their opinions" thoughts and points of view, there is a certain decorum that is to be followed. The hardest thing for people to express freely is, when they don't favor a particular model or models. Unless there is a specific reason they can explain without offending fans of the model or the model themselves, some people opt to remain silent, but isn't that part of what the forum participation is about? To speak about ones thoughts and perspectives and points of view. (Even if we don't all agree)?

In the past few weeks or days, I've heard at least a few people express their dislike or distain for certain models. In some cases these models would be considered "Fan Favorites". Does that mean that everyone has to like certain models because they are fan favorites? Often times, out side of physical appearance, personality, or other reasons people may shy away from certain models, behaviors or actions may also be significant "turn offs". A member of long standing recently expressed how a model was distant and they weren't as approachable by fans as other models have been at events. I think that behavior from the model, left a questionable feeling in that member. We all don't have the pleasure of meeting models nor, do models all know their fans from their social media interactions or facebook correspondence, when they see them in person (so I've heard from model's themselves).

On the forum, we can develop a rapport with the models, this is true. Some members may leave a lasting impression on the model, and the model on the member. But, when it comes to expressing how we feel about a model when we don't see all of the wonderful things about them that others may, it's hard to express that on the forum sometimes, without running the risk of creating tension on the boards!

People tend to say things like, " I'll probably catch shit for saying this....." While others' just say what they feel and don't concern themselves with "what other's think". ( I don't always agree with what is said but, I admire that attribute) Are we really allowed to "Express our thoughts and opinions" even if others don't agree on this forum freely?

Just a question I would like to throw out there!

Actually, it was me Betu, who bumped this thread from June 2010, as I noticed that no one had joined Gary from Tacoma in welcoming the "new forumite" of the day, PeterH. It was intended to be humorous. But you do raise some interesting points again regarding the forum and what should and should not be said to be polite.

I understand from personal experience that when one of us "adopts" a model as a favorite, it can seem like an affront on me when someone rips into that model, so unless I feel very strongly about disliking one, I will usually just say that he is not my type. I think that a larger problem was created when Mark allowed the models access to the forum, as it makes it more difficult if not impossible to express my true feelings about a model that I do not enjoy who may read my words and feel personally insulted, which is certainly understandable. But I am only offering an opinion based on my own inner sexual desires, so it can be uncomfortable discussing a scene that I do not like, when I know that the performer is on the forum as well.

And as I've mentioned several times, the most uncomfortable example for me was the model Flint, who began posting weeks before we ever saw more than a small avatar of himself. He loved the forum and became very playful with us becoming an active poster with an intelligence and a great sense of humor. However when his scenes came out, he heard mostly negativity regarding his physical appearance and his ability as a porn performer and he finally told us that porn was not for him and he exited forever.

I try and say what I mean on the forum without hesitation. I'd like to think that everybody else does too, but thats not the case. I too noticed that when I started the forum there was a group I called "the queer click" who dominated every thread. Now oddly enough the remainder of that original group are some of my closest forum friends: Mikeyank, Jon and Tampa. (I hope new members don't look at me like this) lol But I was able to say what I felt about a scene without caring what anybody thought. So I hope all members just say what they want with respect to everyone involved with this site (fuck we're all adults) and we can all be happy disagreeing!!!

Also welcome to the forum to my fellow Seatteite Stripe. Who strangely enough started the same month and year as I did!!!

That part had me a little confused. Whether they "participate" on the forum (member's side or chat with the models side), I guess I always thought they had access to the site material, which would include the forum. In order to "post" they would have to be logged in, just like subscribing members. They could still read the comments. What would be the benefit, (based on that) from not expressing one's true feelings? But, I do understand why YOU do what you said.

My belief has always been that the majority of the models who come to work for Broke Straight Boys are here to make some quick cash, and really don't pay attention to things like the "ratings" and the forum comments. We have heard many times from models, usually during a BTS how they go into a "zone", almost in an "outer body experience" when they are preforming gay sex. I believe that many of the straighter guys try to keep the porn as a separate aspect of their lives, and unless they intend to make a career out of the porn, our comments and votes really are not of interest to them, as it doesn't have any impact on their day to day lives.

It is the guys who become vested in the total Broke Straight Boys experience such as Tyler Evans Mike Robbins, and Cousin Mikey from BSB1, and later Rob Ryder, Jimmy Johnson, Blake Bennett, Jason Matthews, obviously Paul and Damien, and recently Tyler White who become a part of the Broke Straight Boys family, with the fans, as they are aware of us, and they interact with us, and those are the one's who I believe I need to be especially careful with my words, for they become forumites, and just as I would never want to insult one of my fellow members, I feel the same way about them.

I could be totally wrong, but I think that the vast majority of models who have come and gone, are made aware of the forum, possibly check it out from time to time, more as a "goof", but really don't give a crap about what we say. They are here to earn money, and not to make friends with the membership here.

I agree with post, hell most members don't care what you have to say!!!

I actually think most models dont come back because of some of the things they read. i wouldnt. to any model out there reading this we would love to get your input. look at this. ryan was trying to give tyler some reassurance after members were hating on his oral skills and then there was an entire thread about him that wasnt pleasant even though he did start it.

My thoughts are it was a great scene. Tyler is a pretty good model and he a great person to be around.

Tyler asked the members for input on his porn skills. 1st mistake? maybe, but he did ask. Where as some models who have read our posts actually improved on a lot of their skills, and thanked us!! "tyler is a pretty good model and a great person to be around" How do you know?? I love tyler, but he's a arrogant punk and It would drive me crazy to be around him lol

We thank you because we cant say anything like what we would want to say because we could get in trouble. I work really hard in the studio and sometimes it is hard to concentrate because you keep thinking "will they like this, will they like that" and some of the comments are really hurtful and really messes with your self esteem. Luckily, we have the staff here who encourages us and tells us that we are doing a good job. I am who i am because of my experiences. I try to give my best, but i stopped posting because you just get shit on all the time. So its better not to. A lot of models feel this way. Pretty much they all do I think.

Guess the Doc needs to subscribe himself a few sense of humour pills.

And when a model wants to post and defend himself against the Doctor??? His thread is pulled. And Tyler you did ask.
For some reason you went from page one to page six. It could not be the fault of the same people that post allot ??
There aren't that many of us to do that.
Must have been all the people that don't post. You think?

Yes I agree Johnny, Paul's thread was pulled by Broke Straight Boys management or by Miami24 who is probably part of the management. Regarding my quote, well it was a tongue in cheek dig at Ryan's rather pointless post, but no one really got it.

There is something sinister and untoward going on behind the scenes at the moment. It's happened before and a few of us pick up on it and have so once again. I would say this to Broke Straight Boys management, Don't treat your members like fools and try and pull the wool over their eyes. They are far wiser than yourselves. End of

I am evaluated on my work performance which if good I get raises, if bad I get a list of things on what I need to improve on then evaluated if this list has been completed. Most everybody in the work force faces these personal meetings. The profession you have chosen is porn. Then you are evaluated on your cock sucking and fucking skills right? Broke Straight Boys has given its customers a forum to voice their opinion on its employees and their scenes. You and the other models chose to read these forums and join in and we appreciate that, but I know it's not a requirement. I agree we can be a little rough and outspoken in our opinions, but it's just an opinion one member is voicing they are not speaking for the entire audience. Tyler you have a lot of members who really like you (including myself) and know you put 100% into your scenes. I have read all of the threads about you since you started and you get lots of praise from various members, but not everyone is going to like you and you have chosen to focus on the negativity. The positive responses towards your work have outweighed the negative ones. When you personally ask for our opinion you must take the good with the bad. You mention self-esteem, I would think that a porn model would have high self-esteem considering what their doing. So if you and the other models are on the forum for strictly high praise and to build your ego, but not take critism then maybe it's best if you did stay off. Like I said we appreciate the models participation on the forum, but we're here to see you guys perform on screen.

If you are saying that they don't come back to the forum, that is probably true, but the forum was created for us, the paying customers. While some so called members might be cardiologists making huge amounts of money, but many of us are either retired on a fixed income or some of us, like me, working at a shit ass job for a meager pay check, but we devote a portion of our disposable income to Broke Straight Boys each month, and the forum was created for us. I was here when Mark gave it to us, and it's been great for both him and us ever since.

The models are young, mostly good looking guys who are getting paid to have sex. Do you see the difference? We pay for the site. The models get paid by the site. That doesn't excuse any member being rude or abusive to a model, but if we say that a model is "Kodying" or that he sucks dick like Tyler or as one of my friends refers to the "Johnny Forza semi flaccid dick syndrome", I think that is acceptable. It is an honest opinion, and if given the choice of having models posting on the forum, or us being allowed to offer our honest unfiltered opinions, I would choose the latter. And to any model who refrains from posting as a result of some members of the audience not liking him, I say "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen". If you are hot and a good sex performer you will still work here and get paid. But the forum loses it's validity for me if we cannot express our truthful opinions.
