I thought I would start this thread about the movie called The King's Speech.

Oh India - We used to own that too - lol

Funny you should mention that Jon. I was watching a documentary last week on the grandson of Lionel Louge. (The speech therapist who helped King George VI mostly overcome the problem with his terrible stammer.)

I googled King George VI after watching the documentary and there was one tidbit of trivia about him that really caught my eye. That being that he was the last "Emperor" of India. The title and honorific does carry a certain cache to it. Does it not? haha

Did I say that with enough British understatement? haha

For once I am lost. I know nothing of what you are referring.

I'm really surprised if you haven't heard the story behind the movie or have never seen the movie Jon. The fact being that King George VI had a terrible stammer and could hardly speak several paragraphs in the company of even close family without excruciating effort and a lengthy bit of time. When he thrust unexpectedly on to the throne he was absolutely terrified and unprepared to give public speeches or recorded radio addresses to the entire nation. It was the speech therapist (and commoner) Lionel Louge who helped him more than anyone else to gain mastery over the stammer.

Yes. That one. The movie about the story of which you claimed no knowledge. haha I'm glad you remember now.

It is a very moving film Tampa, with a lot of truth to boot. Talking of period films/dramas - Downton Abbey is with us again in the Autumn, as is Dr Who.. All new episodes.

I look forward to both. I think I remember hearing that we will get new Dr. Who episodes (or at lest new to us) airing on BBC America on August 23rd.
