Thanks very much Sha for answering my question. I’m touched by these stories. I decided to add my own story about a street hustler kid I met In Dallas years ago and new for several years. He called himself Angel. He was a young kid of Mexican heritage and was small and thin and very cute with really pretty hair and eyes. When I first moved to Dallas I rented a condo in oak lawn, the gay neighborhood of DALLAS. The only way I can describe it is that he looked like a caged monkey. He was so small. Just skin and bones and he was only wearing white briefs. I would guess he weighed 45-50 lbs. I’ve never seen anyone in that kind of condition. I held his hand through the food tray and cried and cried. He wanted me to apply for a medical discharge so he could come home with me. I was just leaving for a 2 week business trip to Italy. I told him to stay strong take his medication and I would try as soon as I got back. The chaplain told me not to try because if they let him out I would be responsible for taking care of him and they would handle everything there. I knew he was right but I was still willing to look into it. This was no place for anyone to die much less my little Angel.

Good post. I agree. You do become attached to young guys that you sleep with. I always tried to give my young bed partners as good a time as they gave to me and have them want to come back for more. I will be clear that the one who I represented I did NOT sleep with while I represented them. It is unethical to sleep with a client. My experience over the years has been that most hustlers I met were not bad people but often were flawed in ways common for people to be flawed but who had made very poor decisions as a result of those issues. There were a few who were down and out nasty people who would just as soon rip you off as trade money for sex.

I cannot say exactly how many sex workers I have interacted with over the years, either representing them in court or while on a personal interlude. He recognized I was having a stroke which I did not realize and took me to the hospital emergency room and stayed with me while I was examined then admitted. Once I was in Intensive Care he contacted my family and gave them all the information, took my car home and parked it, and secured my house. So I freely admit I owe my current decent shape to a former heroin addict who had been a street hustler from the time he was 13 up until around 29. He is clean now, has a good job, is married to a wonderful woman, and they are expecting their first kid. I officiated at the wedding.

I guess the basic point to all this rambling is that some of the guys we see here may have issues in their lives, some serious and some perhaps not so serious. Once I was in Intensive Care he contacted my family and gave them all the information, took my car home and parked it, and secured my house. So I freely admit I owe my current decent shape to a former heroin addict who had been a street hustler from the time he was 13 up until around 29. He is clean now, has a good job, is married to a wonderful woman, and they are expecting their first kid. I officiated at the wedding.

I guess the basic point to all this rambling is that some of the guys we see here may have issues in their lives, some serious and some perhaps not so serious. We are here to be entertained by the fantasy of the straight guy doing gay sex. Cute straight guys, although one man's cute is another's "not so much". But it is important to remember that these are real human beings and just as complex as anyone else in our own lives. And while some of them may have serious issues, as we have seen in the past with some, quite tragically, they should be treated with the same respect and compassion anyone deserves. They may overcome their issues or they may not but they are still humans, just like us.

Well written Mikeyank. I have had a number of experiences with hustlers over the years both as clients of mine, as well as, a client of some of them. I will be clear that the one who I represented I did NOT sleep with while I represented them. It is unethical to sleep with a client. My experience over the years has been that most hustlers I met were not bad people but often were flawed in ways common for people to be flawed but who had made very poor decisions as a result of those issues. There were a few who were down and out nasty people who would just as soon rip you off as trade money for sex.

I cannot say exactly how many sex workers I have interacted with over the years, either representing them in court or while on a personal interlude. Some I have becomes friends with over the course of our interaction and stayed friends with. In fact, I owe my life to one of them. He stayed in contact with me long after he left the life and would come over about every couple of months, spend a night and we would go to eat and a movie and then the next day head to the beach or the hills for the day before he returned home [about 60 miles from SF]. One such weekend he showed up and we were on our way to a restaurant we liked in the Mission when I became confused a bit. Thank you for sharing this. You were really blessed to meet this guy and I’m sure he feels the same way about you. It seems several of us have similar stories with these guys. Many are just hoodlems but lots and I think most are really nice guys who are in a bad situation. I’ve known many in that category. The old phrase, “there but for the grace of God go I,” comes to mind very often.
