Stonewall: The Movie

Fascinating and horny story to me Spartan. I am curious as to how your best friend reacted to the attention from the gay men. Did he stick the job out with you, and if he did not, did he question your sexuality for staying? And this leads me to other questions about you and your good looking, well built straight buddy, but I will be discreet and not ask, but if you want to share, I am all ears. lol :001_tongue:

Like me, my buddy was amazed at what we had experienced! Management did not exactly give us a job description and when we arrived we were each given a different bartender to work with, we later learned our titles were bar backs although because of our size, I was 6ft 2 and he 6ft 1 each weighing around 175 pounds, management had us each spend 2 hours each working the door with a bouncer. I remember throughout the night whenever we ran into one another we couldn't stop giving each other high 5's and we both had never smiled that much - I swear my mouth stretched by an inch that night from smiling so much. Whenever I had to leave the bar area and collect supplies or work the door, I would be looked at, rubbed up against, talked to and of course tipped. After we closed on the first night we got together and counted our money and we each had over $300 which is more money than we had ever seen before at one time. We could not stop talking about how little we had to do to earn so much money and we could not get over how guys were hitting on us and asking to put money in our shorts - not our pockets, these guys were reaching down touching our dicks which we both admitted was a turn on. Once we were done cleaning up, the older guys that we were working with asked us to hang out afterwards however we were already past our curfews and back then our parents were strict with us. Although I had arranged to stay at his house for the weekend because his parents were less strict, we did not want to push it because we knew tomorrow was gonna be another long night. When we got back to his place we talked for hours until the sun came up and then we just crashed. Again we were living the life of straight guys at that point and had never been with another guy and certainly not each other although that didn't last for too much longer...

Wow Sparty!

That was amazing! I would love to hear a continuation of course. I also have to thank you for taking the time to write that for all of us till 3:00 in the morning. Having probably been told that you would make either minimum wage, or as a barback possibly less than minimum wage plus a share of tips from your bartender...it must have felt insane for two 18 y/o guys to be counting out $300 cash for one night's work. The fact that you were both suddenly immersed into a subculture of gaydom and gay nightlife that you had known little or nothing about previously, had to have just had your 18 y/o minds reeling. I've never known of anyone who was exposed to the gay world in such a way. lol

Along with Tampa, I am fascinated and in the spirit of truth telling find your situation sexually charged as well, and I look forward to your continuing the story of you and your buddy at the age of 18, being tall strapping athletic guys living the straight life, fucking your girlfriends, as you discover the gay world and see how much older men are into guys like you and your buddy. I am totally "hooked" on your story. :001_cool:

During June 1969, I turned 19, was home from my first year of college, but was not "out" and remember watching the news of what had happened several miles from my Brooklyn home, but not relating. Later that summer I went to other gay bars with my childhood friend David. They were mostly unidentified from the outside as being obvious gay bars, but I did not realize that several months earlier I might have been beaten or arrested for going there.

The bar I went to with David and his friends Mark and Robert was called The Sanctuary and was in an old church. I found this image and description of The Sanctuary.

Mike -

That's an amazing story - so evocative, and powerful! Also, I have to confess, as an old Episcopalian (Tampa, close your virgin ears): it delights me how you guys made all those old BAPTISTS, roll in their graves!!! LOLOLOLOL!

"A" ;-)))

That's pretty cool Mikey.

The story of all the building's incarnations reminds me of something from my own childhood. There was a neighborhood grocery store close to the home I lived in from the age of 4-10. My family and I went to that local grocery store a minimum of once a week for the entire 6+ years I lived there. My family then moved to another part of the city quite a ways away from there. Fast forward 5 years and I'm 15 y/o. My friends invite me to go to a new club, with a driver who was 16 and old enough to take us.

We pull up in front of this place and sure enough, it's the same grocery store parking lot which is now the new home of a discotheque. haha I was floored at the irony of it. :) The location meant nothing special to my friends. But for me as I entered the new club and the Donna Summer disco music blared I looked along the walls, the large cavernous room with a dance floor now totally devoid of grocery shelves and thought, "There's where the dairy section was...the meat aisle...the produce area where I can remember helping to pick out bananas from the time I was about 7 years old...the aisle that had potato chips was over there...my favorite Lucky Charms cereal was over in that direction..." It was quite surreal! LOL

To bring the thread back on topic though, I'm quite interested to see how this movie does and how accurately it depicts the era. Since I was too young in the late 60's to know for sure, I'll have to ask others how well the movie captures the period. I haven't seen the movie advertised on tv. Has anyone else seen ads for it? I imagine it's primarily marketed in gay magazines and other gay interest sites online.

Tamps -

This is an amazing story, too - and it resonates, so much, with me. It seems so many of the places which held some of my favourite memories, have been renovated, completely changed, or have been torn down, altogether. Like the little Italian restaurant where my friend Dr. J. and I used to dine, in a little alcove, sheltered by thick red velvet curtains, and talked about our lives and loves. . . while Montserrat Caballe's arias played over the speakers. . . now, it's a Caribbean restaurant. (Not quite the same, as I'm sure you'd agree.)

Or, more to the point, my high school auditorium, on whose stage I famously declaimed many a comedic part. . . they rebuilt it, and drama is no longer part of the program - so they made it into a BASKETBALL COURT :-((( Or, worst of all, my elementary school, which was in a rural area. . . where my late Mother used to teach, and I told many a joke to hot, appreciative throngs, at our Christmas concerts. . . The area has become so depopulated (as farms have gotten bigger and bigger) - they couldn't keep the school going anymore, and now there is just a little stone marker, where it used to stand. *Sigh*

Oh well, tempus fugit, as they say. As far as the movie, Tamps, despite the controversy, definitely want to see it!

"A" XOXOXOXO

Hi Ambi,

Verus est. Tempus fugit. Time marches on and some of the sentimental landmarks of our earlier years change drastically or disappear altogether. Such is life. lol

Sadly, my friend, so true. Only friendship (and sometimes, if we are lucky, love) are eternal.

Our First Experience:

It was Saturday night and we arrived at the club a few minutes before 8pm as scheduled only tonight we learned that there were going to be dancers added for additional entertainment and they were called GO-go dancers which I found the title to be humorous. Going forward I'll give my buddy the name of Joe for simplicity.
Joe was assigned the same tasks as the night before of the door and bar-back however I was also assigned another responsibility working with the floor manager to assist with the coordination of the "dancers" rotation and to ensure that they had everything they needed (water, etc...) This ended up being a really cool job giving me a lot more flexibility on the floor and stages giving me more exposure (tips) although it did take me away from the bar a bit more than I would have liked since that was my favorite thus far. Regardless it was so busy with so many people and just crazy with the customers dancing, drinking, hooking up in corners, it was loud and so much fun - the energy was contagious. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. It was on this night that I actually recognized 2 different guys although I was not acquainted with them. I didn't see Joe as much tonight because we were both so busy. At the end of the night we both agreed that Saturday night was busier and more fun than the previous and I cleared $410. which most came from being on the floor and working with the dancers. After close we were again asked to hang out afterwards and this time we both had agreed that we would since the club was closed on Sunday and we could sleep all day.
The dancers were more around our age 20-24 with one of them being just 19 so we decided to hang out with them and three of the bartenders that invited us over to their place. It didn't take long for Joe and I to realize that they were all gay which didn't bother us and quite frankly we were both bi-curious at this point because they were so sexy, masculine and they were so cool to us. As the night went on we began playing some drinking games and the alcohol was really flowing we were offered several drugs mostly ecstasy which we declined. We were playing a drinking game of quarters with a twist which instead of making a rule you had to either kiss with an open mouth for 30 seconds, or squeeze another guys dick for 10 seconds although it was not up to you to make the decision. So that was our first time kissing or touching another guy. At one time Joe and i separated for what seemed like 15 minutes when he lost and he had to sit out. Later that night it was revealed that he took some ecstasy and actually made out with one of the dancers. We got back to Joes place about 7am and his family was still sleeping. His room was above the garage with a separate entrance so he had a lot of privacy. I was tired unlike Joe who was starting to feel the effects of the ecstasy, and I wanted to crash so I stripped to my boxers and did. We had slept in the same bed several times before so this would be no exception although I always complained about his moving all over the bed throughout the night ending up spooning me most of the time - it was a running joke between us. I immediately crashed however woke up later to an amazing blow job and yes it was Joe sucking on my cock. I remember saying what the fuck and jerking quickly although he used his strength to push me back and he kept on sucking so I quickly gave in and just enjoyed it. It was an amazing experience and although I didn't reciprocate sucking his dick, we had the most incredible make out session afterwards and we both crashed afterwards.

Later that day he apologized and admitted that he had taken some ecstasy from one of the dancers and that the guy had fondled his cock making him really horny - I answered his apology with a deep kiss which led to another long intense make out session with a lot of fondling and eventual mutual jack off session. No apology needed, I'm just frustrated that you made the first move. We had a double date scheduled for 7pm with our girlfriends and both Joe and I could not stop laughing the entire night, every time we looked at one another we must have smiled. It was an amazing 24 hours that we both never regretted. I remember screwing my girlfriend so hard that night and when she gave me oral I couldn't help but fantasize that it was Joe

Wow. That was hot! Thanks Sparty!

It's sad that drug use is so popular though. *sigh* But I don't want you too feel you have to censor your recollections for us.

I can't censor anything especially the drug use because I have lost to many people I care about through the use of drugs mostly because they were not educated at what certain Drugs can and will do - I don't know about other parts of the country however on the east coast, during my high school years X was the drug of choice and it was a killer more indirectly than directly - regardless it was a killer

Upon further research it says that Jonathon Ryhs Meyers has a role in the movie. He plays a character by the name of Trevor.

Speaking of Stonewall and the bar, "The Stonewall Inn", I read the other day that two New York legislators want to designate the bar or the area in front of the bar as a national park, which seems a bit odd to me, as it is certainly "sacred ground" to the gay community, but not what I would call a "national park", but here is the article.

Lawmakers: Make Stonewall Inn a national park
Two NY legislators are leading a campaign to designate Stonewall Inn as the first national park honoring LGBT history

Two New York legislators are leading a campaign to designate Stonewall Inn as the first national park honoring LGBT history.

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand and U.S. Rep. Jerrold Nadler made their announcement Sunday in front of the Greenwich Village tavern that was the scene of a 1969 uprising at a key moment for the nascent gay rights movement.

"When we look at our country, we have recognized women's rights, civil rights, all kinds of rights," Gillibrand said. "The time has come to give this part of our history an imprimatur of national importance."

The two Democrats were joined by other elected officials and members of the National Parks Conservation Association and the Human Rights Campaign.

Other senior New York Democrats have endorsed the campaign for a national park at the Stonewall Inn, including Mayor Bill de Blasio and Senator Chuck Schumer, according to the New York Times.

The Stonewall Inn became an instant gay rights symbol when riots spontaneously erupted on June 28, 1969, after a police raid at the Greenwich Village bar, known for serving a gay clientele in an era of intolerance of homosexuality.

As police detained people without ID and those who appeared to be cross-dressing, a crowd gathered outside and began attacking the police with bottles and bricks.

New York City gave the Stonewall Inn historic landmark status in June with a unanimous vote by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission. At the time, The Stonewall Inn was already part of the Greenwich Village Historic District and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The New York City designation as a city landmark marked “the first time a site is designated as a New York City landmark primarily for its significance to LGBT history,” according to the city’s designation (PDF).

National parks can only be created by an act of Congress. They include sites of cultural or historic importance.

Gillibrand says she and Nadler are first asking President Barack Obama to declare Stonewall a monument. A congressional vote on park status would come later.

Gillibrand credited gay-rights activists for spurring action on giving greater recognition to the historic tavern.

During his second inauguration in 2013, Obama mentioned Stonewall and the struggle for LGBT equality as being on a par with women's and civil rights.

We'll see if these criticisms turn out to be valid once the movie comes out.
