As a Pittsburgher, Ive known Sharon Needles (winner of season 4 RuPauls Drag Race) a long time. Since 2006 ish. Similar to peoples fear of clowns ... i fear drag queens so the two of us never got to know each other personally. Although we have many mutual friend. I remember years ago hearing her name for the first time and thinking "ha... thats a cool name for a queen"

This past weekend I had the privilage of attending Pittsburgh Pride for my first real time. At the event I spent most of the day with Sharon Needles, who was not aware I was from Pittsburgh. Upon our introduction of one another She was ecstatic to meet me as I am apparently her favorite porn model.

It was complimenting to hear that such an icon has little ol me as her phone and computer wallpapers... The first thing she told me was "do you have any idea how many loads ive blown watching you"

For an hour she showered me with compliments and fueled my ego lol. I refreshes my interest in profession and remind me why I do this. I would like the chance to tell Adam in particular and any other models who happen to see this, that we really do appreciate all your efforts on our behalf. That fact will always be true regardless of whether any particular scene gets a better rating or review than another. Yes. On the one hand this is a job that you guys get paid to do. On the other hand though, few jobs ever ask you to put yourselves out there in such a vulnerable way. There are always risks one takes in doing so. It takes great personal courage to do this line if work. It takes even greater skills, above and beyond all that, to do it really well.

Well I certainly plan to continue making videos with Broke Straight Boys for as long as it lasts. I enjoy working with all the people invoved in the production and promotions of the company as a whole, but more importantly the unique opportunity to receive feedback from fans and spectators alike and being able to have an actual conversation with them. Life is a learning opportunity, hearing what others think, feel and believe allows us to have a better understanding of the world around us making it easier to travel through the mine fields and over the obstacles.

You put 100% into your scenes without complaining, and you never act like you would rather be somewhere else. I didn't realize that Ms. Needles was quite the toast of the town, that she obviously seems to be (cable selections are limited, up here at the North Pole). . . but quickly did a little research, and discovered that, not only was she crowned, "America's Next Drag Superstar", but that the Pittsburgh City Council also declared June 12, 2012, "Sharon Needles Day"! First, Jason, I laughed a little to hear about your fear of Drag Queens: I imagine you've gotten over it, as I did, too. When - recently promoted, and looking hard for a mate - I made my short-lived, and ultimately ill-fated foray into the North Pole's gay "scene", about 15 years ago, I met all sorts of people. (Including a transplanted Englishman named Nigel, who habitually wore a curly chestnut wig on social occasions, and insisted, "My name isn't Nigel, it's Edwina!!!" All rather disorienting, for a shy, modest, farm-boy, like yours truly.)

In fact, I was SO shy and modest, and reserved in dress, and manner, that one of the regulars at the gay pub I frequented, for a time, ultimately confessed to me: "A, none of us wanted to TALK to you - because we ALL suspected you were either a lapsed priest, on the down-low, or a narc." (Of course, I am neither.)

However, the ONE person who took the time to talk to me, and get to know me, was a celebrated Drag Queen from this tundral town. She sat down next to me, took my hand, and said, "Oh, BABY, your hands are SOOO cold - but, cold hands, warm heart, that's what everyone always says! I can TELL you're scared, but never mind - you'll get used to it, and everything is going to be just fine." And then she talked my ear off, for about an hour-and-a-half.

Now, I never DID get used to it - the gay bar scene, that is ~ but that was a singular act of kindness and compassion, Jason, and I have never forgotten it. And it rather gave me a soft spot for Drag Queens, ever since. They don't have it easy, that's for sure: so often, while they have been the gay world's leading entertainers, they have often been its outcasts, and misfits, as well - and not very well-treated by other gay men. And some of them are caustic and unpleasant, indeed - but others in their ranks are kind and lovely, as I am sure Ms. Needles, is. (And hey, Drag Queens led the charge at Stonewall: so, I suppose many of us quieter, more reserved fellows, owe them a debt of gratitude.)

Second, I am not at all surprised to hear that you are Ms. Needles' favourite video star! SHE may be a superstar, in her own realm and compass - but, so are you. Just as your many fans will never cease, to attest. Jason, you are incredibly beautiful (and grow more beautiful, every year); incredibly intelligent and witty; and (most of all) incredibly KIND, to all your fans, out here in cyberspace.

Of course, I am very sorry about the sacrifices that you have had to make, because of your career in video, Jason. I hope that society at large is becoming a little more tolerant about such careers - as well it should. And, if it is any small comfort, I should like you to know that you, personally, have made an immense, and life-saving, difference, in my life. For many years, it was quite unclear to me whether I should ever find a boyfriend: and, it was a very lonely and difficult time. But, even at the worst of it - there was always Jason Matthews, to cheer me up!!! I'm grateful.

I suppose Im like a good wine or scotch (as I would prefer ) Time has done nothing but help me improve and get better with age lol. Thank you for your thoughtful response. the gay scene in any city is certainly a trick to adapt to. Ive even found that transitioning from one community to another is even difficult because of the diversity and cultural differences between geographic areas. I suppose I have become acustomed to Drag Queens. Still not my favorite people as I have found most of them to be terrible people, some even sociopathic. But once in awhile you find behind a mask ... a great person with an outstanding artistic expression. Despite my deep rotted, well justified dislike for queens, I afford all people the opportunity to make their own inpression. Further more, I give drag queens two opportunities, one as a drag and one as the boy. As I have found they are always two very different people.

The Mayors office did declare a City Holiday "Sharon Needles Day" and here locally she is an Icon to many. With her new found fame, and having met the person behind the mask, it is ever reminding of our roots and that regardless of our fame or celebrity we are all just people, each with our own interest, tastes and opinions.

Hahaha what an interesting question. Upon meeting Sharon, who at the time was NOT in drag.. so it was the boy side, I found him quite interesting and entertaining. That being said I did not find him attractive in anyway asside from being a punk/hipster lol ... that style is kinda my thing haha. So I highly doubt that I would. However, if I were to... he certainly would not be dressed as a she. If I want to have sex with a girl, I will do just that. If I want to have sex with a boyy I will do just that. A boy dressed as a girl or a girl dressed as a boy I think would be weird and ruin the moment. So although I would not have sex with Sharon Needles, if I did it would be with him as a boyy!

Now as for alaska... Ive never really sat and held an actual conversation with him (or her) although we've met several times. I am not into sleeping with boys in drag AT ALL, but having been in drag prior would not eliminate him from having a chance to sleep with me or make out or what ever could happen. From an aesthetic stand point Alaska as a boyy is much cuter than Sharon as a boyy and based on looks alone Alaska (as a boyy) would have better chances. But its difficult to say .. should he have a terrible personality that could eliminate him and so could many other things, but I wouldnt know as weve never said more than hi to each other..

I love Sharon Needles, Jason! She's fabulous! I got to see her perform here in Denver last year during Pride. It was an amazing show! This year, I got to see Alaska! Now, we could get them both back at the same time...
