Another big win for Duke tonight in the NCAA tourney over St. John's, UCONN's biggest nemesis!
I'm torn on this next matchup: my fav team Duke versus my home state team UCONN (but not my alma mater)! Doesn't it seem to anyone following this year's tournament that the East Region is overstocked with many if not most of the top teams in the natiom such as Duke, UCONN, St. John's, Michigan and Michigan State? In my opinion, forcing all of these teams into just one region is unfair to all of them with the result that with the exception of just one of them that none of them will make the Final Four..A truly heart stopping, for me anyway, come from behind victory for Duke over an incredibly tough and well coached St. John’s team. Now on to The Elite Eight on Sunday with traditional rival from the past, the UCONN Huskies and another great coach in Danny Hurley.
GO DUKE!!!

Well put, although the winning three pointer was shot by a college Freshmen himself, who last year was "Mr. Indiana High School Basketball," and has the baby face of a kid still in high school. But the bottom line is that Duke was the better team, which led the entire game until the final shot, and that Karaban (he is a senior) and Mullins, who scored the last six points of the game both had missed all of their previous three point attempts in the game. So I think the Mullins kid brought with him a bit of the movie "Hooziers" to the finish last night. Tough loss for Duke, but an epic classic game!I’ve been watching Duke basketball since 1991 and this may have been the most heartbreaking loss I can remember. My thought is that the experienced Connecticut team with older players knew what to do to win the game, whereas Duke’s super talented freshman class lacked experience and poise at the worst possible time and literally threw the game away. But big props to Coach Danny Hurley and his excellent team. But for me, for now…..a very gut wrenching heartbreaking bitter defeat.

I must admit that when I first saw Brayon Mullins, I thought to myself that he could be one of the best looking young Broke Sraight Boys models ever! And if that pic on the far left is him, I would for that to be the before, and the after being that pic without the shorts and jockstrap! As much as the loss stung me last night, as I thought about it and processed it, it didn’t negate the brilliant season that Duke had finishing at 35-3 with improbably Cameron Boozer following Cooper Flagg with an equally brilliant freshman, “one and done” season. Props to Duke and their amazing young team.
And as I did title this thread, “Real Sports - Athletes, Teams & Men that we follow and admire”, and this is the Broke Straight Boys forum, I must admit that when I saw the Connecticut starting lineup my eyes did linger on 19 year old 6’6” freshman Braylon Mullins. He is very much my kind of guy. I’m not 100% sure that the shirtless instagram pic is him but the others are. I will watch the Final Four on Saturday concentrating on young Braylon.
