A first will happen: OUR President, B. H. Obama, is going to Orlando to actually demonstrate his support and, therefore, the support of the American nation, for those who were murdered in the massacre at Pulse, a known-gay nightclub, by a deranged man.
This is truly a singular honor and illustrates the beginning step, or at least ought to, of the nascent steps that must take place to build a true American community. President Obama is showing how he is the ultimate democrat with this important gesture of "E PLURIBUS UNUM" (out of the many, one).
President Obama stated: "No other advanced nation endures this kind of violence and our thoughts and prayers are not enough."
He is correct there are many many issues that must be tackled simultaneously - assault weapon sales control, building a true anti-racist habit of mind among LGBTQ communities, holding people accountable for destroying the human dignity of their fellow human beings within the LGBTQ communities.
Always note that fascisms and discriminatory mindsets - sexism, gynophobia, anti-Asian racism, anti-Native American racism, discrimination against the disabled, language chauvinism, anti-Black racism, anti-Semitism, Islamophobia are all related and feed happily into one another.
*** Note that what is taught and not taught/ignored in public schools & private schools and not taught in public schools formally and informally must be scrutinized because this where attitudes that harm germinate and get support after the seeds have been planted by families. [Think about what you were taught from K-12 about American Indians, Pilgrims, the US Civil War, Indian reservations, war as good and necessary, the place of women in society, Manifest Destiny, Civil Rights, segregation, Nixon as liar, Bush as liar-WMDs, homosexuals in history, Jazz music and how there was never much if anything about Human Rights and Human Dignity being violated when this was happening all the time.]
