I have my answer based on my experiment. I went back to yesterday’s “test thread” and saw that on my original post, while there was the edit button, there was no delete button. So I thought that perhaps we have limited time to delete a thread and started this one as a further test, and I see there is not. So apparently once we start a thread, we can not delete it, only the Administrator of the forum can delete threads which is a good thing. However we appear to have unlimited time to edit or delete one of our own posts, and that is not a bad thing.
Now back to regular forum programming.

Ther edit and delete refer to the post not the thread.
