I heard this story on the news on the radio driving home from work, an hour ago, and I found the you tube video. This brave kid is in inspiration and could help pave the way for so many more gay kids who feel the need to stay in the closet.

Seen it...

We'll I wasn't that brave, or driven to share the info. I'm not that interested in the sex life of my straight friends. Some man could think I fancied them; desperate frustration without even making a chance... My sex life has been so disappointing lately, I'd hardly dare to call myself gay any longer!

His action is a testimony to all the progress that has been made on gay civil rights since Stonewall. We're not finished yet, but who would have thought of such a thing happening even 10 years ago.

Indeed and that's what makes being gay so much easier these days - the work that Stonewall did. I certainly would not have gotten into such a heterosexual job (and been accepted as just another engineer) had it not been for the sterling work that was done. Of course the topping on the cake - in the uk anyway - was the acceptance of gays in the military.

You'll know when we've gotten there when it isn't necessary to "come out" You just do your thing and it's the way it is. Havng a boyfriend or girlfriend or married to a man or a woman.

That was awesome. Thanks for sharing it Mikey. :)

I agree with Joey that we must still hope for the day when an official coming out will no longer be needed, because it would be greeted with little more than a shrug.

I would be very proud if this boy was a member of my family!! Thanks for sharing M.Y.

This boy was on MSNBC today, explaining that he made this video for the LBGT community, hoping it would encourage others to come out too. This idea was suggested to him by of an older gay friend to his family.

Thank you for posting that Mr. MikeYank. Having started a Gay Group at SUNY New Paltz back in 1971 , at age 19 I remember how hard it is be an Out person amongst your peers at a young age, and I'm sure still is despite all the progress we have made.
