McDonald's Commercial

LOVED IT! LOVED IT! LOVED IT!

Weird music for a commercial though! Made me want to light some candles.

thats one of the best commercials ive seen in a while, at least since the wandy sykes commercial about "thats so gay"

I LOVED IT! very groundbreaking... it's almost as groundbreaking as glee's gay character, kurt, and his father... i love the turn that's coming!

I loved it too. It's too bad they can only get away with a commercial like that in Europe rather than here in the States. But the times they are a changin'. lol In a good way of course. :thumbup1:

I'm also a big fan of Glee.

Hey Everyone,

I just wanted to share this latest commercial from France. It's very sweet. And it's creating some buzz right now. For reasons that will become apparent. Hope you enjoy...

Tampa that was awesome. There are a lot of gay people in france too. So, it is nice to see that McDonalds is opening their arms to the GLBT population...

Does anyone else wish they'd taken that one step further?

At first I did too. Then I thought about it. That could have gotten ugly especially if dad did not know. There goes the romance of the moment. I then understood the tact of their approach in making it a positive commercial. I thought it left a lot for our imaginations. It kind of looked like the photo was sort of the ice breaker for both of them and it opened the door for dad to ask the question or the son to come out of the closet. I can definitely see where you were going with your thought.

One day my good friend, one day...:sneaky2:

It was a great commercial and I loved it. It is certainly a step in the right direction and like the classy approach they took with it. I wish American's could just be more open and accepting of things like this and see us gays as people too.

Thanks,
Jeff V.

Now, you can understand a little bit of why I get misty when one of my sons says something supportive of me and my lover. There is nothing like unconditional love.

tampa, thanks for posting the ad. I'd seen it earlier in the week on the yahoo homepage and loved it too. You know that gay marriage, in church, with rice and rosepetals, has been legal for several years in Spain, right? With that happening here every day it's hard to believe that in Those United States a sweet, subtle ad like the one you posted a link to, couldn't be broadcast sin problema.

LOL Yeah. I know. Franco would have been rolling in his grave if he saw the country today.

Ex-caudillo de Espana. Por la gracia de Dios. haha

!Viva Espana!

But with this artistic and classy portrayal I prefer to just bask in the afterglow of fatherly love for a son. A son's love for his slow on the draw father. And the young love of two presumably handsome young men.

I think the subtlety was not to be closeted, but to make a point. People assumed he was talking to a girl. That's heterosexism and people who swear they have nothing against gay people need to realize they do this all the time and that is part of the opression gay people have to deal with. When you "don't ask, don't tell" you are implicitly lying about your sexual orientation.

I guess the point is to get people thinking outside the lines a little, huh? I posted the link on my Facebook page. Considering my straight girl state, there are probably a lot of people in Denver tilting their heads tonight, but I hope they watch it.

LMAO! You go girl!!!

I liked the commercial. I don't know that it needed to go any further. I was outed at the age of 17, and it was not pretty. I lived in a hellish nightmare for another 10 years after that. The whole thing all but destroyed my life. Miraculously I survived and now, 40 years later, I have a loving and supportive family. Hence, I am not a big proponent of people coming out.
Over the decades I have observed that the gay community is actually the most intolerant and judgemental of all. Too often we know someone is a closet gay and we criticize and deride that person for not being honest and open. Where is it written that we must come out and be honest and open? There is no such place!
Each individual should be allowed the respect and understanding that it is their choice to live their life as they need and want. We should not inflict our values and beliefs on other individuals.
I have known many a closeted gay who has led a happy, healthy, productive life. And even though everyone around them "knows" that person is gay, they have never come out. I respect them and applaud their choice and their ability to keep to themselves, something that is really and truly only their business.
Just my humble opinion, feel free to disagree. Afterall, we (most of us) live in a free society where we have that privilege.

For the most part JLipps, I totally agree with you that everyone has to make an individual choice, whether to "come out" or not, and in some cases, depending on your location, family situation, or career, it is not wise to come out at all.

However the one exception to me is the amazing number of closeted politicians, who have anti gay rights agendas, while they are sucking cock and getting fucked in their own private lives. A very public example was Senator Larry Craig who propositioned the undercover cop in the Minneapolis airport men's room.

I watched an excellent HBO Documentary Film called "Outrage", a few months ago which had many many examples of these kinds of politicians. That to me is the epitome of hypocrisy, and if they are anti gay rights, while secretly engaging in homosexual acts, then I believe they do deserve to be dragged out of the closet. That's my opinion.

Thanks mikeyank,
And I agree with you, that is a horse of a different color. But I was not referring to people like Mr. Craig.
