It's Time To Go

Everyone:

I have decided it is time for me to sign off from Broke Straight Boys I have enjoyed my time on the forum and meeting and chatting with some of the members and models but it is time to leave.

I have been a member for over 8 years and have enjoyed the models throughout the best and worst of times, the transitions from one studio to another and from one producer/videographer to another but the time has come to say so long.

Throughout the years I have weighed in on various topics giving my 2 cents (opinion) when I felt it was needed. I always enjoyed the responses some polite and some not so polite ( some people cannot understand that there are more than 1 opinion to be had on any given subject). I have tried to always be positive and consider everyone's opinions and feelings, after all they are entitled to what they choose to believe, this is America. However, after I responded to post a week or so ago I started to receive rude messages and emails, please note that these were not from the threads originator, it was from other members. Some of the messages were down right disgusting and could be called threatening, it depends on how they are read and translated, the grammar and spelling are horrible. I do not have a thin skin and take their comments with a grain of salt but it still is rude.

With that being said I will be cancelling my membership and moving on.

Please understand that this decision in no way a result of anything to do with the models, the management or anything else related to Blue Media. It is just time to move on and see what else is out there on WWW.

I'm sorry to see you go lpdude. I recall you were a college student and used to tell us about some of the other guys in your dorm, including some discussions about what kinds of underwear young guys wear in the real world, as you were an eye witness to real college guys. As it is now seven years, I assume you've graduated and hopefully on your way to a good career. If any member here sent you any kind of threatening message, I sure hope you forwarded them to Mark to report them to the authorities. It's hard to believe that anyone would threaten someone on a porn site. But if they did, it's still a crime to threaten someone.

I know there were a couple of recent political threads where you stated that you were a Republican and anti Hillary Clinton. You are of course as entitled to your opinion as any one else is, but you also have to consider that on a gay site, the majority of us are probably going to support the more liberal folks who among other things support LGBT causes including same sex marriage and other rights, whereas many conservative, especially the religious right and the "tea party" conservatives have little use for gays as many think the bible condemns us as does God. I guess I'm saying you need to know what audience you are talking to, but again that certainly does not justify any attacks against you.

I hope you reconsider, but if your mind is made up, I wish you lot's of luck and success in life and it was a pleasure having your acquaintance for all these years.

I'm very sorry to hear that you will be leaving us. I know you've been here with us for quite a while. As Mikey says, I assume that you have graduated college or soon will be, and that your new career has started. I wish you all the best, now and always. If you do change your mind or decide to come back at a later time, that would be wonderful too. I find it very unfortunate and even distressing that people would lash out at you in private, in a threatening way, just for exercising your free speech rights.

Again though you will be missed in here. If you do indeed leave forever from the site, please know that I wish you a wonderful and happy life.

lpdude86 I am saddened that you will be leaving. I have also felt the same attacks on personal emails to my account for my views. I am also a proud Republican. But I find myself and hold myself to a much higher level than those that attack me on this site. If we, and others that are felt threatened and attacked for our views simply leave then THEY have won. Im not losing and I wont be driven away from a site I enjoy. Please consider staying and perhaps ignore the forum.
I am deeply saddened that you have been made to feel less than appreciated. I know the vast forum membership are friendly and welcoming. Stay strong.

I am sorry that anyone feels they have to leave because of harassment by other people. I am a 100% flaming liberal pansy, who was tutored by Saul Alinsky as a young man. But threatening people, being extremely rude and vulgar etc is uncalled for. It does not matter what your political leanings are, you are entitled to be treated the basic civility and respect.

I'm sorry that you have made the choice to leave the site. It is always sad when a member of the Broke Straight Boys family departs. I must admit that I am a bit mystified at your decision given your assertion that you are not thin-skinned and that those comments, while rude, you take with a grain of salt. But you must do what you must do.

I see from the other postings on this thread that you are a young man whose future is in front of him. I wish you only the best in your pursuit of it.

A member recently asked me if I was the mayor of the forum, and while I denied that, I do feel a great deal of loyalty to this forum, and of course while I cannot control what anyone else says, I do take attacks on forum in general or the tone or attitude of the core members here, personally, as I seem to be here more than anyone else and many of the frequent posters are friends of mine.

My question is how do members of the forum get their personal email addresses unless they specifically post them on their profiles? Perhaps there is an option to find this information somewhere else that I am not familiar with. And as I stated earlier on this thread, if anyone actually sent a threatening email to either of them, they should contact either the administrator of the site or even the police, for an email threat is a crime and the police can track down that person for prosecution.

Most of us (though not all) have a "Send Email" option on our profile pages. Even if you just click an avatar picture and get the scroll-down bar, it will list Send Email.

You are right Tampa, as I see I have that option on my profile too. I just sent myself one as a test. It hasn't come through yet. Interesting that in all my years here no one has ever contacted me through email, only PM. But again a threatening email is illegal and that person should be reported to the authorities.

I think you were kind of thinking about exiting anyway (that's what I got out of your post) but still that just leaves a bad taste in your mouth!! If I may clarify about the emails I receive as Mike apparently prefers to argue the email point rather than the issue. I received messages via the forum mail system, perhaps better called notifications next to your login on this forum. So they were not to my personal and private email it was through the forum. Hope that can get Mike back on track.

Thank you for clarifying that Observer, and on a somewhat flippant note, I find it ironic that you as a Republican are distressed by someone from the opposing political party arguing "the email point rather than the issue", which is exactly what many Republicans are doing in regard to Secretary Clinton's emails, but that is just my perverse sense of humor coming into play.

However back on point, I am still surprised that anyone on this forum has personally attacked you for your political views. I can promise all that it was not me, and two forumites who are close personal "off forum" friends of mine are staunch Republicans and we can debate issues intelligently and disagree on key political points, while still respecting and even loving one other. Look at political commentators James Carville and wife of 23 years, Mary Matalin and while he is a liberal Democrat and she is a conservative Republican, they apparently have a happy loving marriage. So to me political affiliation is and should be a non-issue here, just as I am attracted to guys very different than most of my friends here are, but again there is no reason to not be able to agree to disagree and still be friends.

Sorry to see you go. I've never received a threat but some very rude replies. I got over it. If you don't like the forums because of a few don't go on them. If you enjoy the site don't let the few take it away from you. I hope you reconsider
