As you might know, on May 22 Ireland is holding a vote on legalizing same-sex marraige. This is one of the most recent ads put forth in support. It is very touching; it brought tears to this old curmudgeon's eyes. Take the time to watch it. I think you will be moved.

(PS - Thanks to Professor Mikeyank who taught this computer and web luddite how to do this kind of copying for videos [and pictures too]. He increased my knowledge by 75% - lol !!!)

The old professor now has two students. I hate to tell you and Johnny that tuition is going up for the fall semester. :001_tongue:

changes the constitution must be approved in a referendum. in the 90's, the constitution was amended to permit civil divorces. this change would say "marriage may be contracted in accordance with law by two persons without distinction as to their sex". civil marriages. the religious views on both subjects are different than the civil view.

Thank you Stowe for sharing that with us. It's very heartwarming. It also gives us something to look forward to finding out about Wednesday night or Thursday morning. I hope the vote goes our way. :) They're 5 hours ahead of us on the East Coast of the U.S. Does anyone know when the polls close? Or how soon they expect to have official results?

at 4 am, on Saturday, may 23, 2015, the counting will begin. 10:30 pm is the latest the polls can stay open. any 12 hour period between 7 am and 10:30 pm. my best guess is we will know by Saturday afternoon.
also voting to lower the age to become president from 35 to 21 years.

that's 4 am east coast time. I thinking 12, maybe 13 hours. so that would be around 5 pm on Saturday.
