ALSO!!

Share with me a story of something in your life that was life changing. Make sure it's a happy one! It doesn't matter how long it is! I love to hear about my fans!

Ill start this by saying my life changing story!

Ok so I was at the airport one day just sitting around waiting on Ms. Sabrina to come get me. As I was sitting there I saw this guy that was wearing a Army jacket and it looked pretty old. (As everyone knows I am in the military so it attracts my attention) So I approched this man, upon my approch I noticed that his face looked like it had been burned. If you don't know, things like this can be very very hard to talk about. I asked the man if I could sit down and introduced myself, telling him my background in the military. He agreed and instintaly knew that I was there about his jacket and knew that I was going to ask about his face and scares. Being poliet I expressed my concern for privacy and my respect to him for what he had done and been through. This man agreed to share with me the story. He only told me his last name, which was George. So it started....

As George told me his story I couldnt look away, it was constint eye to eye contact. I understood everything he was talking about what his job was and everything. He was in Iraq and served with a Military Police unit over there. While on patrol they were attacked and ambushed between buildings. As his unit and the enemy exchanged fire, he said only one thing went through his mind..

"I said to myself that I am here for a reason, weather or not I die or not here, I will try and try to survive. I know that I can die and I am not afraid to die."

He continued to tell me about the exchange of fire, I heard a sudden drop in his voice. George then said that he was behind one of the vehicles and heard one of the other men yelling at him. When he looked over all he could see was bullets hitting the ground and the vehicle the solider was behind. He told me that he didn't think about his next decision no more than 5 seconds. He fired twice into the buildings and ran to the other solider...

As George got to the other solider, George noticed that the other solider had been shot in the leg one time and in the arm twice. George knew that he had to get this man out of the line of fire and to a medic. George picked him up and started to run to the safe zone in a building that others had cleared. As he was running George heard one of the guys in the building yell at him to get down... George said that no more than two seconds after he heard him yell, he saw a granade hit the ground.......

BOOM! The grenade exploded, sending George and the injured solider flying.

As George came to, he said he couldn't hear anything, all he did was see and the flashes and explostions from the bullets and grenades. George quickly got up and picked the solider back up to take him to the safe zone. As he got to the safe zone he was greeted by the medics and others..as soon as they took the solider from George, George collapsed and went unconscious. George was in a comma for four months afterwards. As you can guess the grenade that exploded burnt his face, the entire right side of George's face was burnt. His right eye lost all sight.

George got up as soon as he ended the story, thanked me for joining and walked away.

As i continued to sit there and think about everything that I had just heard. All I could think is that this man did what most wouldn't. He risked his life to save a person he never knew. And after he was injured he still continued to save him. The self determination and self sacrifice was amazing. The fact that he knew that he could die and was not afraid to except that at all. I realized that this man was not afraid to put everything on the line for someone else to live. George actually became one of my heroes that I look up to!

Thanks for that Adam. George would get a medal for that if he was in the uk - possible the Victoria Cross.

I'm sure he got one here, but I think that's rude to ask. He Disney do it for the medal but to save this mans life. Not saying that's what you were saying. Don't take that the wrong way.

LOL at your "He Disney do it for the medal" Sounds Scottish..

No one in their right mind would do that purely to get recognition, as there is a good chance that they could be killed in the process. They do it because they feel it's their duty and of course there must be something special about the individuals who go this extra mile.

Great Story Adam. If I may, it seems that many quiet heros in the military do not like to talk about incidents. I have 3 uncles who served in World War II - One as a driver for General LeClerc(he received the French equivalent of the Medal of Honor), One with General Mark Clark's unit in Italy and One in the Coast Guard aboard one of the few Coast Guard LSTs. None of them were very willing to talk about wartime experiences and I finally got my coast guard uncle to relate his experiences on Iwo Jima. Not a pleasant experience. Also my uncle that served in Italy would not talk much about it. One humerous experience that he did relate was how he learned how they make olives. To the day he died, he refused to eat any kind of olive. I value that you took the time to speak to the man. Way to go.
PS My coast guard uncle was also in the huge Boston cafe fire that killed a lot of people. Got some sort of medal for rescueing several of the patrons. I think the restaurant was the Coconut Grove but am not sure of name.

Thank you for sharing that very poignant story with us Adam. We al l owe a debt of gratitude to men like George. Thank you for your own service to our country Adam. xo

Well thank you for sharing about your uncle's! I salute all three of them! It's truly amazing what some will do for others.

LOL so correct Tampa! It really gets bad on my phone!

I'm reminded of a true story I read in the newspaper about a year ago. A husband and wife went on vacation and sent their adult daughter an email (or possibly a text) that had the auto-correct feature. Upon receiving the message the daughter called them up, frantic with worry and shock. They had to sort through the whole misunderstanding and it came down to this... The father had written that he and her mother were going to Disney. Apparently he really garbled the word Disney when he typed it in. The auto-correct changed the word to say: "Your mom and I are going to "divorce"." :confused1: LOL

Was that used in court lol..

I hate what you call auto-correct feature we call predictive text here. I'm always making cock ups in my texting and there have some very embarrassing ones too.

BTW Adam, I like you new avatar - fancy a date love ?? xxx lol

A life changing moment in my life happened exactly 6 years ago this Saturday. I was away at school and received a phone call at exactly 1:05am that my parents house was on fire and they couldn't find my dad. I drove about 100 miles an hour and made the usual 2 hour drive in about an hour. My dad never made it out of the house BUT he did make sure that my mother and my brother made it out alive before he went back in to save the cat. My dad became my hero that day and it changed my life. I am not telling this story to make people sad or to make anyone feel sorry for me, but to explain that true hero's are usually right in front of us and we don't always realize it. This truly changed my life and I became a REAL adult that day. :001_unsure:

HAHA Jon, I think you had some problems in that last reply too. Maybe not. Anyway, yes I have had many embarrassing moments in text with the dang auto-correct. I remember one time that I was texting my dad about this girl, I dont quiet remember the full text but it did correct the word I was going to say and said that she was pregnant. Needless to say my father was livid and told me to get home that instant and I had to go all the way home and explain to him that it was auto-correct...well he had already called her parents telling them all about it... so they made her get a pregnancy test and me a HIV test....why I had to get tested, I still to this day do not understand...oh well! Shit happens I guess!!

It's called technology dude and progress - not. I have an iphone5 and wish I could switch the auto correct off but I cannot. It's shit..

That was rather embarrassing wasn't it. Now if I was to make that mistake and tell my mum that I got a girl pregnant she would know that I'm lying. Last time I touched a girl was when I bumped into one at the bus stop. Can you make a girl pregnant that way ?

That's absolutely true Nick! Even everyday ordinary people can be heroes! And the strange thing is that just like in this example...you never know until it's afterwards. I salute your father in being your hero! It takes a lot to understand why someone would do that, but once you do it is a life changing experience, especially if you are that close, like you and your father.

LOL if you had cum on your hand and you rubbed it against her bare vagina....YOUR FUCKED! Oh yes it was embarrassing and fuck! Especially to her parents. I think I was closer to them than my own parents!

Adam I have to tell you that not only do I find you incredibly sexy and I actually had a dream about you that involved you getting a physical and me waiting to take you home. You came out naked and raised your leg and said something about getting something out of your ass then I woke up DAMN. Anyway, after this post I know you also have a beautiful spirit and I appreciate that in a guy.
