This is my first time doing the honors of opening the thread after a scene. I'm surprised that twelve hours later or so there hasn't yet been this thread, particularly because we already have two about a scene that hasn't even come out yet!

Perhaps it's because many people don't have that much to say about it? I'm afraid that's the case for me. I'm an Ian fan, so I liked that he was in this scene. I liked watching him top, since other than his last scene with Damien we haven't seen much of that. Johnny's never really been my favorite model, but I understand a lot of other people like him; hopefully they enjoyed seeing him get fucked.

Perhaps people haven't said anything because Clay directed this scene and so there's no Johnny rage? Well, I like Johnny and I surely missed him here. For me, and I suspect a lot of people, Broke Straight Boys is different from other porn sites - and the truly incredible amount of free porn available on the internet, which I think is the real competition here - in that it's selling the models' personalities, for lack of a better word. We get to know them as people through the behind the scenes stuff and them posting on the board. We know that Ian's funny and kind of a smart ass and Johnny's kind of a bro who likes Bruce Springsteen, et cetera.

Often this stuff comes through in the scenes. A good example was the back and forth between Damien and Cage Kafig last time, which I really enjoyed. For me, Broke Straight Boys is at its most successful when all that stuff comes through, because it really does make porn that's different from the other stuff that's out there. I think Broke Straight Boys kind of knows this, too, because they invest in it.

So to the extent that a scene reflects the models' personalities, I think that's a scene that I'm really going to like. But when you get "the first model gets a blow job, the second model gets a blow job, one model fucks the other one, they both jerk off at the end," that makes the models basically interchangeable - the only thing to really get excited about is if you happen to prefer one really attractive guy to a different really attractive guy, and I think that wears thin. That then translates into a scene that's basically interchangeable with the rest of the porn on the internet, including the free stuff.

I don't really know if I've even made a point there, other than "formula bad, models' personalities good." Maybe others have thoughts about this?

Advocate88, for a member of this forum for less than six months, I must say that you do seem "to get" Broke Straight Boys much in the same way as I do, a "grizzled veteran" with more than five years under my belt.

When I mentioned on the last Clay scene released, "Spencer Todd FUCKS Brandon Beal" that there was a surprising lack of comment on the forum, I was told by some that it was due to the holiday season where people didn't have time to comment, but there sure has been a lot of commenting on other Broke Straight Boys issues, so I would have to agree that the apathy towards this scene is largely a factor of what you said:

I like the points you make about the "predictability" of the scenes advocate88. When I watch other videos on other sites, to include College Dudes, which has the same director, I may be "entranced" initially by the guys I'm watching but, I really kind of know what to expect. There have been some variations of the scenes (in limited numbers) during my time here. However, it's the formula tried, true and safe; that has become a tad unsubstantial for my overall viewing pleasures. Having the ability to gain a little of the models' personalities is a unique quality that I've enjoyed about Broke Straight Boys

I am confident, with all of the comments to date; both favorable and unfavorable of the new directors "techniques", adjustments will be evident in future scenes. I too, downloaded but have not watched this particular scene. I imagine, it was shot during the same time frame as the reverse; Johnny/Ian scene. We may even have other scenes previously filmed under Clay's direction to (endure) before the transition is complete. "It is what it is"...as they say

I really do not have much to add to what has been said already. I have always liked Ian and Johnny was a hot young man with a good personality. But what could have been a hot scene was simply formula and the problem there falls on the director not the actors. Both of these guys have done great work in the past. I am sure that both are capable of doing hot work in the future. But a director has to direct. Clay had a routine and he did not vary much from it.

I'm genuinely not sure of what you are saying here except that what makes a suck and fuck scene not boring is when we spend time getting to know the models personalities. Let's say that my understanding is correct. Then a question : If we have a scene with two new models and we spend time getting to know their personalities, do we have to spend that time again in every other scene in which they might appear? This is a good point, I'll have to think about this. Off the cuff, I'd say I don't really care if it comes in scene or out of scene as long as it happens, but I still wouldn't like it if every scene was both models get BJs, one model fucks the other one, and then they jack off on each other.

A good example of something I really enjoyed was a scene with Ian and Tristan a couple of months ago. The two models left their clothes on and fucked like that; later on, Ian explained that they did it that way at his suggestion because he enjoys sex that can't wait for the clothes to come off. I thought the video overall was middle of the road. I gave it a 4. Partly out of generosity to Johnny who while not putting forth the greatest of efforts, is leaving us with these few final scenes. I did like him overall and I will miss him. Ian did a wonderful job here. I enjoyed the nipple sucking also.

I'm not going to be putting down Clay on a regular basis now that he's gone. I will say this though. I think the real reason this scene did not reach its fullest potential was Clay's style of directing. On other sites (and even earlier on Broke Straight Boys-1) we have all seen videos of models who were not especially good looking in the traditional sense, but whose scenes sizzled nonetheless. Many sites have great performances and choreography but are lacking in models who are really attractive.

Broke Straight Boys-2 with Clay, especially towards the end, suffered from the opposite problem. We can all substitute names of favorite models with scenes that prove the same point. With this scene for example we had arguably two of some of the best looking models the site has to offer. And the site has built up a fairly good roster of very attractive guys. But... When Clay puts these hot models together (even if they are straight) we still get an "All dressed up and nowhere to go" phenomenon. The scenes became cookie cutter predictable, mechanical, boring...with a failure to launch and live up to their potential. Two (usually Hot and talented) models get together on set. The suck each other, insert two fake open mouth kisses every 2 minutes, resume sucking, lay on back and one starts fucking, insert 2 more fish lip kisses, resume fucking, lay hand on bottom's throat, bottom model lays there moaning but otherwise is like a dead fish with his arms at his side. Give a cumshot and call it a wrap. Yawn...

There are other directors out there who would salivate at the opportunity to get such good looking gay for pay models on their sets to show the world what they could deliver with them. Artistry, creativity, an ability to adapt and change things up from one scene to the next is what it's all about. We would give suggestions like frottage, body worship, feeling up each other's chests, nipple play, real kissing, the bottom participating more by feeling up the top's chest, etc. Clay would sometimes do a scene or three with some of those suggestions. While I might agree with every jot and tittle, it summarizes very well the current malaise facing Broke Straight Boys I agree with you that we need new talent and new ideas - I'm just not sure that this new guy Johnny in his present iteration is the right remedy for the problem. If he takes seriously some of the comments people make and adjusts accordingly, his new ideas and his fresh personality can really give this site the re-birth is so sorely needs. And I would correct one particular sentence of mine in referring to Johnny.

Johnny had his share of scenes that he sometimes appeared to phone in. But he had some good ones too. This was one of his better ones. He was able to stay rock hard for quite a while as he was taking it from Ian in the chair. This is also probably one of his last scenes before he got the tattoo.
