I don't know if we have any members in the Houston-Galveston, Texas areas or the southern Louisiana area, but my thoughts and prayers are offered for those who are affected by this monster storm named Harvey.

Thanks Buckeye1, Tampa, elyot1, and Johnny for those good wishes. The graphic from the NWS is the latest information regarding rainfall with this system. An official with the watershed systems around Houston said that we more than likely received 50+ inches of rain. We are extremely thankful and blessed that all of our family members, friends, and yes Johnny, the animals remained safe, fed, warm, and dry. Thousands didn't. Speaking of animals, our Grace and Gunnar need to stretch their legs and other things!

Cheers!
Tyler :)

I'm so happy that you and your loved ones have made it through the storm so far as well as you have. :)

Thank you so much Tampa. We are blessed. :)

Hi Tyler,

I hope you'll continue to give us updates on how you see the recovery efforts unfolding in your corner of the world. We Americans have notoriously short attention spans. But I know this is not going to be a 3-6 month cleanup. It will likely take years or maybe even a couple decades to get the place (all of southeast Texas) back in order to as good as, or better than, it was before this one storm.

Thank you guys for the good wishes. We are enjoying our first full day of sunshine! Tampa, yes, the road to normalcy will be long. We are tough, though. However, with support from others like yourself, it makes us stronger.

Johnny, you are correct. Let me share a personal story. My brother breeds Boar Goats. He and his crew made sure they were safe and dry days in advance. But the most touching part of the story was watching his head Australian Shepherd ("Clint") lovingly nudge the babies into the trailer. They are so smart. He knew something wasn't right. He ran around the barn area making sure all were accounted for. So it was animals taking care of other animals. It took forever to get him into the back of the truck. They are truly innocent, and very, very, smart.

Cheers!

My family lives in Texas. Two of my cousins and a grand niece who live in Houston have lost everything. While they are currently being sheltered by other family members, they are now homeless. I have contributed to the Red Cross and have urged others in my circle to do what ever then can. God bless the victims and know that we are behind them through this long, long road of recovery they have ahead.

Here is a heart warming message from Zach (the Adventures of Zach and B) who is also from Texas.

Here's a little pick-me-upper song with a lot of hope.

Yes. Great video from Zach.

Thanks Louis!

I'm so glad that Zach, Alastair and Bronson are fine. I assumed that they were still living in Texas.

Dear Louis33705,

Our hearts and prayers to your family that are here in Texas. The videos will burst any heart. Thank you for posting these so we all have the opportunity to see and hear from others.

Tampa, here is an update and current status on Harvey Recovery in Texas.

It has been approximately 6 weeks since Harvey finally left our area with its 5 day reign of terror and 50 inches of total rainfall. Debris was finally picked up by the official contractors just in this past week. I am strictly speaking for my area. Others, still have piles waiting to be removed. Most homeowners have begun repairs and those with flood insurance and the economically advantaged, have completed the task of rebuilding. Others are still displaced. FEMA has extended motel and hotel benefits for those displaced through the end of the month. Officials say clean up and repair is ahead of predictions. Also, the total money amounts due to loss has been lowered from earlier estimates. For me and my family and friends, we are pretty much back to normal. We are thankful. However, so many others still have a long way to go.

I hope things are going equally as well in Florida.

Thanks for that update Tyler! I'm glad to hear things are going that well. But I know those who are poorer will have to live with being displaced or with damages to their homes and property on their own for a while.

I'll have to get back to you on things in my area. But they are greatly improved. Although honestly it was much worse south of me and I really don't know their status right now.

I'm trying to wind down a bit and go to bed. lol
