Happy Birthday Stimpy

Belated birthday greetings from across the pond. Love the pics of the old classics. I love those old shiny black cars used in movies reflecting the 40s. There's also that classic car that Bette Davis was driving whilst simultaneously drinking a bottle of gin. Pure genius.

Nothing like the old Merc in London.

Dear jon,

As best as I can figure, the movie clip in question featuring a gin drinking Bette Davis while driving a car is as follows:

The 1952 Movie was called "The Star" and the car in question is surprisingly for Hollywood only a 1948 Mercury Sedan(essentially a slightly more luxurious Ford). :thankyou: for giving me an unexpected birthday challenge from across the pond!

Sincerely not liking the frumpy old Mercury (as being much too busy in design),

My second attempt at getting it right!

As usual I can rely on you to produce a classic. To which I will respond:

Well Jon,

I guess then you were referring to "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane" filmed in 1962. Bette Davis was downright "scary looking" in that movie as a forgotten has-been/child actress. It has been years since I last watched this BDavis film, so my initial recollection was something totally different.

Even scarier yet, the priceless classic early 30's era car used in the film was in actually a "real" Duesenburg Model J roadster which would sell today for a million dollars at a minimum. This was America's most technologically advanced car in its day. This car is shown in the opening scene as follows:

I hope I finally have this correct after all.

Sincerely,

Stimpy
