I can remember watching her Coronation on television when I was 11. And we got both Life and Look magazines and those pictoral magazines seemed to really enjoy printing pictures of the Queen and her family. I was and still am drawn to following her in the news. I just admire her for the way she always conducts herself with such calm dignity and grace. I can remember vividly the whole Peter Townsend matter and how hard it must have been for her to tell her sister that she couldn't marry the man she loved. She always served the interest of her subjects even at the expense of her own family.

The Queen Mum lived to be 104 yrs. So she has longevity on her side. If the Queen lives that long poor Charles will be in his early 80's. I do not think the Queen would ever abdicate in his favor. Not only is she a traditionalist when it comes to things in that area, but also she saw what her Uncle's abdication did to her Father (I've read that she believes that what her Father had to deal with as King - speech problem, the War and its immediate aftermath, - was so stressful for him that his immune system was weaken too much to be able to fight effectively against the cancer). If she should suffer some physical malady that would make her unable to exercise her duties, I believe there must be some sort of plan in place or at the very least Charles could become Regent but not crowned King as long as she is alive. And when God calls her home to Heaven, may He do so in the same quiet dignified manner in which she reigned and lived her life.

So Happy Birthday to HRH Elisabetha II, Regina. Long live the Queen!!!
