I was thinking back to the "prehistoric" pre-internet and even pre-VHS days when gay magazines were the main source of whack off materials. These were a few of my favorites. Does anyone have others that they recall?

And I always loved to read stories and this magazine and it's whole family of offshoots were a favorite of mine.

And this one will show just how old I am, lol. When I was in high school, I used to see this one at new stands and I would go to a stand far from home, for fear that somebody would know me when I purchased these small magazines. And of course they were always in a plain brown paper bag, usually scotch taped shut.

I used to love Sebastian Bonnet, and I used to read these magazines. I used to look at Black Inches and Latin Inches as well. I’ve also not had any intimate contact with a guy in over 3 1/2 years, so I could use some black or latin inches real soon.

Those were very hot as I like stories and even Playguy and others had stories but Stroke had very HOT stories like First Hand. It was a thick magazine but a lot more expensive than the others, but an excellent choice Wylie. I agree very much!

My favorite was "In Touch" I'd have to go across town to a magazine store to buy it. Then I would call an out of town friend who also got the magazine and we would talk about it over the phone. I'd also check out the centerfolds in Playgirl when I saw it on the newstands, but I never bought one.

I remember going to a smoke shop and quickly putting the magazine on the counter, paying the man, leaving like there was no tomorrow. My noisy sister would find where I hid the magazine no matter where I would hide it. I finally told her I gave up hiding them if she wanted to find it, good luck. She got bored not being challenged and gave up.
I am just a little younger than you Mike, most of the magazines basically advertise the scenes of the 3mm movie. There were many hot stories and articles. After I moved from home I got a subscription to some of the magazines, In Touch, Instinct, I paid up for 5 years, (didn't want to miss out) lol. They went out of business & I ended up getting free Advocate Magazines added to my Here account.

I remember hearing that Dirk Benedict posed in Playgirl back in the day. 1984 to be precise. Did any of you ever see the issue? My question is, Did he ever show the D? Or were they just a few random shots of his chest and butt? I suspect it was only the latter and not the D.

There was a magazine back then called "Playgirl", supposedly for females but the majority of subscribers were male, which had the hottest very straight guys posing sans clothes, although I heard that a few of them did some male on male escorting on the side.

In the UK we had in the 80s magazines like Zipper and Bear, but you had to go to a sex shop to get these and that for many of us living in London would be a trip to Soho in the West End which frankly was a really seedy area of London back then. I can remember having to go into one of these shops and brows the stands to find the magazine I wanted and then having to go to the counter where an old guy (back then all sex shops seem to me to be run by some very dogey old men) who would give you a knowing look and put the magazine in a brown paper bag which I would then make disappear to a bag I had bought with me. I would then race home to look at my purchase And imagine having some fun with these models. I was lucky because I came from London and could get to places like Soho, elsewhere in the UK it was much more difficult to get these magazines . If you wanted to buy VHS then Soho was the only place to get these and they were always sold under the counter and for a small fortune I can remember paying £30.00 for my first VHS back in 1981 when I was 20 and thinking to myself my father would have gone mad if he had known I had blown nearly a weeks wages on a video, but I treasured this for many years after until the machine I had decided to chew the tape up. Thankfully we no longer have that problem with streaming. Ah happy days!!!!

Absolutely Foxyman. New York City was a great place to be gay and horny in the 70's and 80's. No shortage of gay porn theaters as well as book stores that rented porn!
