Paid $2.99 per gal for gas today in Seattle. Never thought I'd see under 3 bucks again. How are the prices everywhere else?

I paid $3.79 a gallon today for regular, whereas it had been over $4.00 a while back, but this is New York City where everything cost more.

About $4.30 for regular and $4.60 for premium in Hawaii right now.

I pay an average $1.55/L here for premium unleaded. Can go down to around $1.49 for E10. Gas prices (LPG) I would hazard a guess around 0.88/L.

me too in Brooklyn. I go to Stop and Shop and for every $100 spent you get 10Cts a gal off at Shell. It builds up I used $2 a gal off once after waiting a few weeks .

Come on you American brainboxes. What would £1.35 per litre work out as dollars per gallon ?

I'll take a stab at it Jon. I won't promise that all my numbers are correct but I'll show the work in my math. lol

1 U.S. gallon is 3.78 liters.

3.78 liters costing 1.35 pounds (per liter) = 5.10 pounds

At the current exchange rate of $1.62 per 1 British pound (without exchange fees) the total of 5.10 pounds per gallon = $8.28

So yes. As of today's date the price of a gallon of gas where Jon lives in Britain is $8.28.

A car in Britain with a 17 gallon fuel tank (that was empty) would cost $140 to fill up.

Math confounds me, so I will take your word for it Tampa. I had heard that gas was more expensive in Europe, but $8.28 a gallon is rather shocking.

I guess that's why Sarah Palin was yelling "Drill baby drill"!

Dear Mikeyank,

I have been thrilled lately to find Shell Gas as little as $3.14 per gallon for Premium! Still not quite as good as during the 1970's gaswars where I could get Premium(Brand X) in Atlanta for only $.13 per gallon. Even back then, after living 6 months in Germany in 1965-66, I knew how good we had it in the USA at the time!

Sincerely,

Stimpy

The Aus dollar and the Us dollar are very similar at the moment, and gas, or petrol as we call it, is 1.50 per litre in Tasmania, so using your math, Tampa... I pay $5.67 a gallon or a 17 gallon fuel tank would cost me $96.39 to fill from empty.

Yep...the Brits are doing it tough fueling up their cars :o(

Thanks Tampa... and thats just fuel for the car. Then we have our heating bills.... omg... gets passport out..

I was stationed in Turkey, Incirlik Air Base, and a gallon of gas ran for $9.00. That was in 1978-79. So I wonder how much will it be today?

I didn't realize you were rich Jon. Since you own a car and I assume you actually drive it sometimes. lol Yeah. You need to come over here across the pond where it's cheaper. Just bring lots of medical insurance. Because medical care is NOT cheap here. haha

In Holland you pay € 1.854 for a liter super...
3.78541 liter = one gallon. So that's € 7.01 for one gallon.

That's $9.22 US Dollar for one gallon super plus!
