Irene is on the way guys. Take whatever precautions you are told to take by the weather people and stay safe. With a bit of luck it will head up the coast before even hitting the peninsula, but be alert.

Thank you Slimmie, it appears to be grazing the East coast so my thoughts and prayers go out to those who live on the other coast. But it's far enough out, that the track can and usually does get adjusted significantly as the days progress, and it closes in on us.

I'm keeping an eye on it also. Here on the west coast we are not likely to get the worst of it. If I lived on the east coast of the state I would definitely be more worried. I did go out today and got plenty of bottled water just in case. You still want to be ready if wind knocks the power out or if we get a boil alert for our water. If we Floridians are lucky it will skirt up the coast with no landfall. But we don't want to see it make landfall farther north either.

Thanks for concern but it looks like Florida will get lucky with Irene. She seems to have her sites set on Virginia/DC/Maryland. What's going on? Earth quake... First in over 100 years to be followed by Hurricane. That's scary.

The earthquake is a further sign. That we fucked up by electing a Tea Party House.:scared::lol:

can you say, lucky?
well florida's luck is someone else's problem now.
leave low lying areas when ask.
good luck and stay safe!

As many have done for ME, "I" will keep EVERYONE in my thoughts/Prayers!

On a 'side note' I have relatives that live in Clearwater, and Dunedin, subs of Tampa, so, I have a vested interested!!

DAMN, SO MUCH on my mind! UGH!

We only got a little dab of rain today in the areas you speak of. I'm more worried about friends who live in coastal NC and then New England.

How about your friends in between those two areas, Tampa? New York City is supposed to be in line for a direct hit, late Saturday night into Sunday morning. The mayor is talking about emergency evacuations in low lying areas, and subway service may cease sometime on Saturday. First an earthquake on Tuesday and now a major hurricane. You think that God is trying to tell us something?
