Dem Rep. Anthony Weiner's...wiener?!

I so wish that this guy was not a Democrat. But the scandal of the day is how Rep. Anthony Weiner (D) New York got himself into this horrible mess. He is a married man who was caught sending explicit photos of himself to women online. And how (gasp!) he even had some explicit online chats with some of these women.

I was aware of the one photo that got him into so much trouble. The now infamous underwear pic. Apparently he put this photo in a tweet, thinking that it would only go to the one woman he had in mind to send it to. But then he realized that he had posted it to his actual Twitter account for all of his Twitter followers to see. I don't do Twitter so I have no idea how this works. Apparently within a few minutes he realized that everyone could see the photo and he tried to take it down. But by that point it was too late.

This is all bullshit. Just another event to distract our elected officials and the media from real problems. If the people of New York want to be represented by a 14-year-old Congressman, so be it. If not, they know what to do.

We can't seem to stay focused on important problems. In fact, we often can't even put them on the table for a serious discussion. We have to talk about the global economy, job creation, social security, medicare, medicaid and immigration reform. Yet, it appears we can't talk about any of these issues because they are too politically sensitive. And we are in or near an election year all the time.

Actually Jeff, he represents a different part of Brooklyn than I live in, but I have met him at street fairs and other public events.

I had never thought of him in sexual terms, and didn't realize that he had a good body. But I am saddened by the whole episode. I thought he was a good, rising politician, (no pun intended) and now I believe that his political career is ruined, for a rather dumb reason.

Mike what I had read in the past about him was that he was a rising star, so yes it is unfortunate that he has fallen so quickly. The lesson, once again, is not that the act that causes the fall, but the lying about it that does. My marketing friends tell me it should always be, "Own It", "Apologize for It" and tell the people "I'll change." Unfortunately, Rep. Weiner did do any of that.

Okay..........He hasn't been married very long. So, if this stuff was going on before he was married, SO WHAT, NOT OUR BUSINESS!

If these internet pictures and dirty talk has been going on during his marriage.........the cheating and LYING is an issue. You actually do need to be able to trust your politicians.

BUT.........

This is 2011, and the notion that our elected officials must be so clean, that they squeak, makes me want to scream.

If a politician has never smoked, gotten drunk, slept with someone that they were not married to, told a lie, wrecked a car, lost their temper, broke a promise, not been able to pay a bill, eaten mac and cheese, etc., etc., etc. Then they are not a representative, of the people they were elected to speak for.

Everyone makes mistakes, has secrets, has been through hard time, has family issues, money problems, all real life issues. The notion that as soon as a politician, is proven to be human, they no longer deserve to be a politician, is absolutely ridiculous. Especially in this country, where we are all screaming for the rights to do things the way we want to do them, how we want to do them, when we want to do them..............

He is my congressman. Im in his district and I always liked him. Will vote for him if he gets to stay. This is out of hand. I remember him going door to door and asking people their views on how he should vote. I had a problem he helped with and he is a good man but got caught in this mess. I hope he gets through it. What surprises me is Chuck Schumer his best friend who got him into politics is quiet and says nothing in his behalf.

I saw him resign. It was a stump speech. His constituents want him back. I think he's brilliant. Darling tampa, he will be back for sure.

So many of the hotties who used to post on this forum mentioned their sexting and camming as part of their quotidienne sex life. My buddy Milen and I used to do it a lot. Oh I agree with you Slim that he is hoping to make a comeback at a later date. At 46 his political career is hardly over. I just feel very sorry for his pregnant wife. He is also in a more conservative district in NY. So it's not a cinch that a Democrat will be able to succeed him.

The loss of another Democratic seat in Congress would be a high price for the country to pay right now. So there are larger issues at stake at the moment than just a horny guy with an exhibitionist streak. Do I feel sorry for him on a human level? Yes. He broke no laws. He wasn't going after minors. We have all done or said some stupid things (within the law) in moments of horniness and/or drunkeness that we wish we could take back. Weiner proved for all the world to see that (duh!) he's a flawed human being.
