Sorry to hear about your relationship, David. But you're young and just starting out. You'll know when the right person for you comes along. Don't go into a relationship thinking about if this is the one or how long will it last; just let things take their course.
As to your coming back, that is really something for you to decide. You have been one of my favorites, although I was critical at times of certain performances. But in the last few scenes, you were hitting on all cylinders. So would I like to see you back? Yes, but only if that's what you want. If you come back but only half-heartedly or because there's nothing much else to do, then that will reflect in your performances. Whatever you decide, make it for what's best for you.
