Dear Mark,

I appreciate the fact that you have asked for suggestions. So many have already offered some great ideas that I hardly feel the need to repeat their points.

You are quite justified in pointing out all the many great things the site has to offer that makes it unique. I love the BTS vids and the fact that you send models to the Pride events. We are being given access to more models in the forum than ever before. Broke Straight Boys has every right to tout that fact. It's a great addition to a site that already offers lot more than others out there.

My advice about what kind of models I think should be hired is just basically common sense. It's no secret that a good site should have good looking models. That means that if they are a 4, 5 or 6 then they shouldn't be hired. Yes, I know that's subjective. In the beginning of Broke Straight Boys-2 there was a preponderance of models with crew cuts, and lots of tats. Some had a really rough, streetwise look.

The point is that there has already been a noticeable improvement in the latest models hired. Thank you for that!

That is not to say that models with tats or crew cuts should not be hired. Only that they should be mixed in with guys of different looks also. More wholesome looking guys is what I prefer personally. I know however that Broke Straight Boys needs to appeal to a wide range of tastes. So just keeping things mixed is best, with the idea that if they are a 6 or below then they shouldn't be hired. I love straight looking models like Tank Shane for instance. I also don't mind if we push the age limit into the 25-26 range once in a while .

Even David brought in a few charity cases every now and then who had compelling stories for why they needed some quick money. David did explain this to us each time. And I think you'll agree that when it was done sparingly that members overall tolerated and approved of it. So a couple of times a few 5's and 6's got in, but didn't stay around for long.

Rather than talk about what kinds of models should be hired it would be easier to talk about which ones should not. If their faces don't look healthy because of heavy drug use or very unhealthy living, then don't hire them. If they look like a street hustler, don't hire them. There are other sites for that look. If they come on set with glazed eyes and licking their lips then don't use them. If they look like you would be afraid to be alone on an elevator with them then don't hire them. haha If they definitely look like they have seen the inside of a jail cell more than once then don't hire them. A little bit of a bad boy look is fine once in a while but don't go overboard with it.

Hygiene. Very important. Their hair should always look like it has been washed that day, be well combed and out of their eyes. Their teeth should not look yellow. The clothes they wear on set, while not having to look like department store finest, even if old should always look clean. When they take off their shoes please warn them not to flash the camera a look at filthy socks. Make sure that their socks are clean so that we believe their bodies are clean.

Other than saying that they should be 7's or higher I can't recommend much more than what is already in the hiring guidelines of the Tier1 Casting page for aspiring Broke Straight Boys models:

What We Look For:

* Boy-next-door, collegiate or military appearance.
* Flat stomach with visible abs.
* Muscular, fit and toned bodies.
* Natural hair - arms, armpits, legs and pubic area unshaven.
* None or minimal tattoos.
* No body piercings. If you would like to be considered you must be able to remove any and all body piercings.
* No unusual suntan or sunburn.
* Simple, classic and masculine hairstyles.
* Healthy, well rested smiling faces.

I agree with you Tampa other than the shaved part. It grows back for one, and two, some of us think that's super hot. There's not nearly enough shaved guys being shown in gay porn, in fact many of the model application pages specify "No shaving allowed". That's ridiculous because some people find that totally hot, especially since most of the straight guys in 'real life' are either shaved or at least trimmed down and manscaped.

Tattoos are fine with me, as long as it's not overdone.

I am completely with you on everything else Tampa, especially the unusual suntan or sunburn look...yes if you live in FL and spend a day on the beach you're going to get burned. But if you spend 2 hours a day in a tanning booth every day, it looks totally fake.

Well, I can't say that agree with you about Broke Straight Boys going to the Pride Events. I think having them out there meeting the fans may only help a little bit, but we are learning that the BTS footage is VERY popular with the members. They like to see the guys, and get to know their personalities, outside of the studio.

As for what Abe said about Broke Straight Boys being great, because they bring in guts that we have not seen before, is true, and that is helps add to the premise of our models trying gay sex for the first time................BUT, I would really like it if we had some REALLY HOT new guys on Broke Straight Boys Lately, we have had cute guys, maybe even good looking guys............BUT, we have NOT had any guys like Logan, or Kyler, or Zakk, maybe Diesal, or Shane. Guys that we looked at their pictures in the updates, and said, "Oh my God! That guy is Fucking Hot!"

I am enjoying Broke Straight Boys-2 very much Mark, and for my personal taste, I would like you to find more true straight guy types, like Jimmy, and from the old site, like Tank Shane, Jordan and Mike Robbins. I like guys who give off the "straight boy" vibe.But as I now realize that a lot of members here enjoy models who will perform all out gay sex, with passionate fucking, and kissing and cum eating, I would like for you to continue changing things up with a variety of types of models and scenes. With three updates a week, there is room for a lot of variety, to hopefully appease a divergent audience that I can see from the forum, comes to this site for different types of scenes.

And I would ask you again, please have Clay post on the board. Mark, every time you tell us "huge improvements are forthcoming" I have learned to become somewhat nervous. Sometimes too much of a great thing has the opposite effect! When you say the budget has been increased, I sincerely hope that you don't mean you are spending more money hiring big name/expensive porn stars who have to give a cut of their salary to their commissioned agent!

The specialness and unique qualities that have made Broke Straight Boys such a big success were the personal things, as Mike touched on. But I don't think having a huge presence at pride events or encouraging the models to participate in the forum is necessarily a porn site's main drawing point.

While those are all great things, it absolutely boils down to the scenes themselves, that's why most of us are here (or cancel). If the scenes aren't hot, everything else is just gimmickery. No porn site will become wildly popular because of having the best gimmicks out there, it just won't happen.

You guys struggled with the intro of Broke Straight Boys 2.0, a lot of people hated it. You oversold, and under-delivered. But in your defense, you have really started making some huge improvements which are very obvious and you have done a great job making those improvements. Keep doing what you're doing, but don't over commercialize everything. The more gimmicks, the more commercialized your site becomes and the more that makes it seem like a cookie cutter factory. Yes of course it's important to promote, but considering the genre, there can be such a thing as over promoting. I believe if big changes are on the horizon, and the budget has had to be increased, that's almost like admitting failure. The more a site has to promote itself in order to attract new business, it aims a very bright spotlight on it and the focus is taken away from the very genre that the site claims to adhere to which is, I thought anyway, Broke Straight Boys

There are 1,001 porn sites out there catering to the same exact theme, all claiming to feature "amateur" "straight" guys "having gay sex for the first time", and their message falls flat on its face once you see a couple scenes and recognize most of the scene participants because you've already seen them having gay sex on other sites previously.

Of course Broke Straight Boys is a business, and of course you need to continue attracting new members and keeping existing members in order to stay in business. But I don't think the key to success is by over-promoting yourselves and over-advertising the product to your own existing members, which I've noticed is happening. You're pushing Broke Straight Boys merchandise, and the site is turning into an advertising heavy site. One of the reasons people pay for access is to rid themselves of advertising they are subjected to on the free sites and blogs.

With as much advertising as you're starting to clutter the site up with, you'd think it's a free site or something and frankly, I'm surprised that you don't provide the forum for free.

I think you guys have made some HUGE improvements in the way of scene content, I just don't want to see you mess that up. Since you advertised that you've had to start throwing more money at Broke Straight Boys, I'm fearful that means you will stray even further away from the core theme of the site. I beg of you, do not start hiring big name porn stars because that will absolutely KILL your numbers. It's already a very crowded market, the amateur straight guys having gay sex for the first time themed porn site is already I'd say 50% of the market as it is. Many of them are already doing that, and people are getting bored with the same old thing on all the sites. In order to stand out, you have to do it better than anyone else. And the way you do that is to get great guys to be in the scenes, and they have to have HOT sex that people will want to watch. If you bore people, they will cancel. If you bombard them with promotions and advertisements, you clutter up the site with unwanted material.

There is an old Latin phrase, "Res ipsa loquitur", which translated says "The thing speaks for itself". I think that if you guys do what you do better than anyone else, people will come flocking to the site.

I seriously think that you have a great thing going on by bringing in guys who for the most part, we haven't seen before. That's what many of us would love to see. I don't think there should be any one type of guy, otherwise you'll turn into another Seancody.com or Corbin Fisher, where you see the same exact type of guy in scene after scene. We all have diverse tastes and preferences, not everyone is into crew cuts and tattoos anymore than everyone will be into long hair or the preppy look.

Each guy brings his own unique style, personality, and charms. As long as a guy isn't fake, and is himself, he will have plenty of fans. But if you start throwing highly paid guys who are professional models with an agent into the mix, the unique charm and unique qualities that have made Broke Straight Boys so endearing to many thousands of members of the years will be lost. It will become boring, mechanical, and about as fun as watching grass grow.

Guys like Jimmy, while he has his detractors, he's also a very polarizing figure. No matter what scene he's in, plenty of passionate and provocative discussion is sure to follow here on the forum and he generates tons of interest. No amount of promotion can generate that, Jimmy generates his own interest in him whether you love him or hate him as a performer. In my opinion, guys like Jimmy are priceless and worth millions if you were to try and put a pricetag on it.

I think the number 1 factor that will make any guy successful on this site, and the site's success will follow in his footsteps as a result, is this: AUTHENTICITY.

If a guy is in-authentic, it's easy to spot a mile away. If he's acting, it's obvious. I believe that's why Mick is so wildly popular, in spite of the fact that he's a well known gay porn star prior to working on Broke Straight Boys: Mick is 100% authentic in everything he does. His charm cannot be acted out, no matter how talented of an actor. He's a true gentleman, and 1 in 1,000. Same with Jimmy, he is 100% authentic. He's not putting on any airs, and while he can be provocative, he generates HUGE amounts of interest and discussion which is priceless.

Please keep bringing in guys who are authentic amateurs, with interesting personalities, nice looking, and most importantly, don't bring in big name actors. Big name actors are a dime a dozen, and can be seen for free on the tube sites at any time by anyone with a computer.

I will leave you with this very true statement, which could be the key to any site's success and popularity: Do something better than anyone else, and people will come flocking on their own. Don't ruin it by losing sight of your core foundations which made you a huge success to begin with. If you lose sight of what you originally set out to do, you do so at the risk of "jumping the shark".

I cannot speak for College Dudes, as I'm not a member, and not really into the scenes that I've seen previewed here, but for Broke Straight Boys, I say get back to basics. Find hot, young, real straight guys who have never been with a guy before, and let us watch them react to the first time getting naked and hard with another dude, and then see how far they are willing to go with the incentive of being paid a lot of money to have sex with a guy.

That is the concept that made Broke Straight Boys great to me in the first place, and attracted me, and I'm sure countless other guys here, who have a fetish for watching young straight guys having gay sex. As you see, we really do appreciate all that you do for this website and the membership. I am impressed with all that your website provides, like the Pride Gatherings, even though I have not made one, yet. And the BTS. That is great to see the boys relaxed and having a good time. And then there is this forum! Probably the single most wonderful thing about this site (aside from the gorgeous boys). Love being able to read everyone's thoughts and fantasies. I enjoy reading about the forumites' personal experiences, and I enjoy sharing my own adventures for those who enjoy similar tastes.

As for boys, I haVE to start with more boys like Jack, and Josh from around MAy of 2011. And then there is Zach and Brett from early on. From BSB1, boys like Tyler were very popular. An occasional bad boy like MikeR is okay. And of course, there is Tank Shane and Corey.

The videos have improved, and Clay is doing much better. What I find is that, the sound sucks at the beginning of a shoot, during the interview phase. One can hear Clay just fine, but often you cannot hear the models' answers. ONe more thing, it seems that when popular models reappear, Clay spends way too much talking to them and there is much less actual se going on. That takes a 20 minute shoot and gives you 5 minutes of dialogue and only 15 minutes of actual sex. But that is just my take.

Regardless, thank you for asking our opinions, which is what also makes this the best porn website. You know how reticent the forumites are about sharing their opinions, lol.
