I tend to agree with you that some solos, along with some oral scenes could still work on the site today. It might not work so well though with gay models who are already over-exposed on other sites. If a model is already on another site topping and/or bottoming and going the whole way, then I and possibly other members would be upset to see him teasing us (and getting paid) for doing a strictly solo or oral scene over here.
If on the other hand he really was a brand new model, and there was that original Broke Straight Boys mystery of, "Will he or won't he go further?" then that original concept still has possibilities. It also creates more opportunities for hiring amateur straight models who may be less hesitant in applying and very relieved to know they won't be forced into anal sex either at all (or at least not immediately in their employment) if they just don't want to do it. We may have some models who will only come and do a solo and a couple orals and that's it. While it may be disappointing on some level as a member, it's okay to have some of those models too. Especially if they are much closer to being truly straight. Better something from them than nothing at all. haha
Those are my own opinions of course.
But again I feel that solo and oral scenes can only be potentially successful once (or until) we get back to having more than one update per week.
You touch on another great memory and aspect of the site when we felt/feel a true connection as an audience member to the models and scene. When we feel like we really have an understanding of the model as a person and we are in on all the banter and inside jokes, not just as an observer but almost a participant, then it feels like a great social visit along with great porn. That all-ecompassing vibe is part of the Broke Straight Boys "secret sauce", as it were, that you've mentioned to us in the past.
