Thanks David for providing more background on the situation with Ronnie. I also appreciate your confirming my feeling that neither you, Sha or Mark knew the full extent of what he had been through in his young life, as he did not seem mentally prepared to undertake filming porn at this point in time.

For that poor kid to be sexually abused repeatedly by an adolescent living in his own house, followed by the loss of his mother. And then at age 16, literally just two years ago having his first sexual experience with a girl who then embarrassed and humiliated him plus his being bullied at school pushed him over the edge to acquiring a gun. And he came very close to becoming a school shooter who committed murder. He did shoot but luckily did not kill or harm anyone. And after being jailed and in prison just a few months ago, getting permission from his parole officer to travel out of state just to come to Broke Straight Boys to film porn just blows my mind.

And David asked him twice if he’s had any counseling or psychiatric care and he said no. I would think attempting to film gay porn and be anally penetrated without resolving his childhood rape was another terrible decision he made. He is still so young and really needs mental health care to get his life back on track. I hope and pray he gets his life in order. This whole episode is indeed so wrong on so many levels and he desperately needs help to live a normal and healthy life. I sure hope he gets the help he needs.

I agree with you Mike if his story is true.

His story is true and Mike I couldn't have said it better. I do want to add that Ronnie was a trooper and really tried his best effort to film that week. The issue we had was I matched him up with guys that have a lot more experience and Connor and Darron both have huge cocks. Liam is big and has a fat cock and if I knew prior about Ronnie's issues, I would brought him down for another week or not bring him down at all.

Overall, Ronnie is a super nice guy. He tried his best but at the end of the day, for Ronnie it wasn't about filming porn it was about self discovery and finding out that he has self-worth and by meeting others, he was very appreciated to have this opportunity because he learned a lot that week.

His chances for recovery will depend on his having a great support group around him, I hope he finds some friends in and via the Forum.

My point is, that this site is way different then other typical gay websites and you have expect the unexpected when we hire new guys, we just never know how they are going to work out. We have a lot of new guys coming up in future episodes so perhaps they will do great and perhaps they will not do so well, and that is the great thing about Broke Straight Boys site, its real and I hope you guys understand that.

And for that I thank you so much David. I must admit that when I first heard you were returning, I was hoping for a total return to your style of filming prior to 2012 when you originally left. But I now realize how much has changed in the porn world over the last decade, but the fact that you are bringing us some brand new to porn guys is very exciting to me. And I totally agree that not knowing how it is going to work out makes it exciting. Guys like Ashton and my personal favorite of the established porn “stars”, Darron are hot as fuck, but guys who are brand new like the very hot Chris Star are indeed the great thing about Broke Straight Boys, when it stays true to it’s original mission statement that you and Mark collaborated on originally in making Broke Straight Boys what it was.

I like that we get the reality of guys who do work out fantastically and other guys who realize that gay porn is not their thing as well. And your telling us that there are a lot of new guys coming up in future episodes excites me as well. Thank you David!!!!

Mike...thank you for those kind words. Broke Straight Boys is a unique site and I've been saying that forever. Perhaps my viewpoint is different from many but I see Broke Straight Boys as more of a reality style porn site where College Boy Physicals and other sites are more based on fantasy/role play.

Over the years a lot has changed and Broke Straight Boys is very tricky to hire certain guys and very tricky to filming them. We have to bring in experience guys like Darron and Ashton and of the like, but we can also mix in newbies and fresh faces that are new to filming porn, especially gay porn and see them being nervous and clumsy in there sex act and also starting them off at a slow pace and working them up to doing other things. This is the whole point of Broke Straight Boys

Unfortunately though, I see the ratings on Ronnie's scene lower compared to the established porn boys which is kind of concerning because what it means to me is that more members prefer to see established porn stars have true gay sex which is not the premise of this site so I wish more of the members would come out and post here on this forum or at least post on the scene with there comments to whey such a lower rating? Is it because they rather watch professional porn boys and don't like the slow progression or having a newbie on site that is clumsy and isn't so professional.

Sometimes filming Broke Straight Boys gets confusing for all of us involved because we do our best to please all the members and we really listen to there advice which is another uncommon thing that doesn't happen within the porn industry so perhaps we will never know and we just have do our best and hope for the best and we hire both professional guys and mix with them with newbie first timers that are clumsy and nervous. Who knows???

Fuck the ratings….lol…..jk…..actually not kidding. If it were 2010 I could see taking these ratings a little more seriously, but considering memberships are down, the price to join is down, and we can only get one new scene a week, it’s seems to me that it would be worth taking more risks than just going by the rankings. Broke Straight Boys at this point is only trying to keep the current members who have been here for so long rather than add more variety and reach new members. It’s amazing to me how the members didn’t really care for Michael Boston or Derek Cline, yet Derek has over 100k followers on Twitter and Michael has over 200k followers. Broke Straight Boys doesn’t have quite 50k. Michael started at Broke Straight Boys just a few years ago. I know the goal isn’t to launch these huge careers for new models. My point is that look how the gay community LOVES Michael Boston and Broke Straight Boys pushed him out the door after the first visit because of this silly ranking system in place. Yes, it is important to please your members that have been here for years….but if this site is going to grow and bring on new members, you have to try and add more variety.
I applaud bringing on Shea and Ronnie, even though they decided not to continue after one scene. I thought both boys were so hot. I’m not so swayed to a particular type and I find guys like Ronnie hot as hell. I also try to give newbies a break. I don’t give them poor rankings and I try to give compliments to someone who might be insecure or finding the situation difficult. I am not suggesting anyone vote the same way I do as everyone is free to vote as they choose.

The only time I give a low rating is when a players does not participate & I never rate on looks good or bad just how they act. I gave Ronnie a 4 & have yet to see Shea's scene.

I understand that David. And I thank you for giving Ronnie the chance at porn. Everything you've done here with filming him has been by the book and everything the mission statement of the site claims to be about. Ronnie has made a contribution with this decent scene.

Like you though, I just worry that his present mental state (due to previous trauma) as well as the drama of his present circumstances, just doesn't put him in a head space where he can (or even should) do porn. If anything porn might even traumatize him further right now. He just seems to be thrashing around right now for ideas...trying to figure out at his level of maturity and current mental health status how he can build a life as a new adult and support himself financially, when his employment prospects are so very limited with a criminal record.

I pray for him.

Like Jay, my heart breaks for him. He really needs some good therapy to help him work through his issues and hopefully gain more confidence and self-esteem. He's a perfect example of what I would call some of the "Walking Wounded" in human society.

You've said that so well my friend. I posted my previous comments before I arrived here to your post. You make so many of the same points and others very eloquently. Thanks for your insights and contributions on Ronnie.

I can't disagree with you Jay that as much as some of us long for the "good old days" of more amateur model porn, that Broke Straight Boys does need to try to cast as wide a net as possible to compete in today's commercial porn landscape. We've also lost a few potentially good models over the last few years just because they didn't make a huge splash in the ratings on their first porn outing here. So the ratings can be a double edged sword sometimes.

Does the site need some kind of measurable metric to determine which models appeal to the most members? Yes. Has that sometimes led to the baby being thrown out with the bathwater just because a potentially very good new model struggled a bit at first and didn't have high enough rated scenes in the very beginning? I would definitely say yes to that too.

On the other hand, highly rated new models do usually go on to get ever higher ratings later on. And most poorly rated new models got those lower ratings for good reason. Many, if not most of them were not cut for this work and really did need to go back to the mainstream job market.

So there're no easy answers and no perfect one-size-fits-all solution.

I will just add that in some cases, a little bit of risk taking may be in order by giving a model more opportunity. A model like Danny Cruz for instance? As another for instance, Diesal's ratings were not extremely high when he first arrived. But now he's a legend of the site. I can't imagine the current Broke Straight Boys without his contributions. So sometimes patience is rewarded.

I am pleased that David and Sha gave Ronnie a chance without dismissing his application altogether. One never knows where a future hit "sleeper" model may come from. Skyler Daniels anyone? In this case especially though I'd say that it was worth the try (especially without knowing his background of past abuse) and I don't feel at all that my time or money was wasted as a member. If we really want "reality" porn, then we have to get pulled into some harsher reality sometimes. It helps build our empathy and broadens our horizons on the human condition. It may not be the pollyannish ideal of what we thought we came here for... But it's reality nonetheless.

Tampa well said & I agree with much of what you said. There are no easy solutions or easy way forward.

I finally got around to watching this scene and I liked it! It had all the elements of why I joined Broke Straight Boys back in the BSB1 era. Liam is a keeper for sure!!!
I agree and I see Liam will be back in two weeks bottoming for Connor. I think Liam is very HOT!!!

I actually had Darron Bluu send in an application 2 years before he ever came here. I even contacted management to let them know to look out for his application. Nothing came of it and 2 years later David had posted on Twitter the link to fill out an app and I forwarded it or tagged Darron and he applied. The rest is history and I'm taking all thank you's for this lololololol

I just posted some pics of Darron from his latest scene on my thread.
