Vonnegut was big in the 60s. I am currently reading a biography of him written by Charles Shields. Quite interesting. What better place to discuss this.

I have read a lot of Vonnegut. He was also big among college students in the 70's. There is currently a renewed interest in him, I think largely because he not only had a unique perspective on Man's place in the general scheme, but also because he was able to hit the nail on the head, so to speak, in the way that he communicated his view. Fortunately (or unfortunately, as things stand in the world today) his themes continue to be relevant.

I have always been a sci-fi fan. They were practically the only books I read for leisure in middle school and high school. :) Kurt Vonnegut is indeed one of the all-time greats.

Although I am an avid reader, and have been for many years, I have never read Kurt Vonnegut. Of course, if he was big in the 70's, then that explains it, I would have been too stoned.

Tampa,

I love sci-fi. Perchance, have you read the DUNE series, by Frank Herbert?

Okay! I knew I could count on you! LOL. So, have you also read the pre-Dune books written by Frank H's son, Brian? OMG, they are every bit as good as Franks! And I love how he has been able to give such a concise and detailed account of the whole Dune story.
A new one just came out in November.

Vonnegut

Funny I had a dream about Kurt Vonnegut the other night. It was part of a long dream but this is how I wrote about it:

Kurt Vonnegut is my counselor/therapist, and as he says goodbye to me he lectures me on all kinds of things i don't really understand. but i smile and pretend i do. just like the real kurt vonnegut lol.

@Steve, you must be an English major at college. Yes, you will have dreams. Be ware of the Steven King dreams. At least you won't have to go through the Carrie experience.
