One of the issues brought up when we were viewing this first batch of newer scenes, was that his hair was still wet from the shower and not fully combed out yet. Having said all that, I agree that maybe he probably should make some adjustments to it. The way I see it, unless a young guy is in the military, police, a very conservative work environment, etc., or is heavily into sports, or otherwise has a job working outdoors in the heat...possibly having to wear hats or helmets often...I say let them wear it medium to longer while they can. Only a few guys will be lucky enough to have a full head of healthy hair going into middle age and older. A majority of guys will have plenty of time (decades maybe) to wear thinning gray hair in a very short haircut (including crew cuts or even totally bald) once they get into later adulthood.

Let them enjoy their youth and enjoy a medium to longer length on them, if they want to, and while they still can. Because that option won't be open to them forever. Some guys will eventually go completely bald and have no natural options left at all.
