KRU referred to southwest asia. the british call the area as the middle east. china is the far east. Vietnam is southeast asia. india is south asia. Palestine is in the southwest corner of asia.
looking at a globe, I see landmasses and not british political names.

It is not just the British that call Israel, Cyprus, Egypt and the surrounding countries the Middle East, the whole of the world do too. Sure we Brits did do bad things in the past to colonise a lot of countries, but we also brought civilisation and education to those countries, without they would still be swinging from tree to tree.

not willing to rehash the decisions by the defense and foreign affairs offices of the british and a handful of nations that leads directly to the on going conflict.
I thought to point out, in my left coast manner, we look at the world from a british point of view.
looking at a globe the middle east is west of iran , india, china, and Vietnam.
we have a southwest in this country. if you go far enough west, you will end up in the far east.
we were all set to bomb a nation in the middle east and the british government was told no. there was no bombing. not that we need the british, it is just we want to succeed. wouldn't quit you, if I could.

It's way too early for geography class for me this morning.

Quote my bumper sticker from the 60s/70s: "What if they gave a war and no one showed up?". Just stop it, it's juvenile.

It is the 4th of August today. Exactly 100 years after the British got involved with World War 1. What has the world learnt about wars and the aftermaths of them ? Zilch

I have to agree with you here I was watching about it all on TV earlier and I was thinking the same thing, you would of thought that after all of the pain and misery that wars have caused some lesson would of been learnt but no.

I recommend that anyone who agrees with me that war is totally fucked up, should take two minutes and seventeen seconds to watch the great Donovan perform this Buffy Sainte-Marie song.

it sad that the war to end all wars turned out to be the worst of the same conflicts and the first in a series.
