This side of the forum has be underused for a long time?! With the exception of a few BD greetings and Buckeye's "Eye Candy" Cute boy Friday and Humpday Trails (which is great btw) I thought I'd start a thread on a local news event! Right now, there's an event that's getting coverage locally as well as globally in my area! Maybe folks can ad their local, "On the Brighter Side" type of events or news worthy posts too?

So good to see you posting again Rafe! Here it got so ridiculously cold again, after such warm days this week, it was actually fun to take the subway and see the cute guys in more revealing clothes, but now everybody is bundled up and covered. I think I will hibernate now until it gets warm for real!

Quiet in the Emerald city today. Yesterday was bumping at my house lolololol plus a few rallies downtown. Weather is cloudy, rainy and chilly of course that's the norm here...

Somebody robbed the 7-11 last night...again. Kroger has bananas on sale this week...I'm going to buy a bunch...don't ask why. It was 61 degrees and sunny here today. Tomorrow is garbage day...thanks for this thread as I would have forgotten...again. lol

Today is the "official" first day of spring on the banks of the beautiful Ohio River, as old Mr. Davidson is currently mowing his lawn. I don't know how, but old Mr. Davidson just knows.

I worried that the flowering trees and the spring flowers jumped the gun by blooming in February, but my fears were quelled when I saw old Mr. Davidson out this morning. The trees and spring flowers are often wrong, but old Mr. Davidson has never been wrong. He just knows.

Well, where I live, we seem to have some of the most "Bi-Polar weather in Upstate New York, lol but, we've actually had a few things to act as a distraction from the bad too! While this early in the year, April the Giraffe has gotten some attention, we had a few other Awe inspiring moments in the past year like:

janavar-christmas-2016-rockefeller-center-christmas-tree-1-5.jpg The 2016 Christmas Tree in Rockefeller Center came from my neck of the woods, in fact I watched it being cut down!

Not only is the BSEBLLHOF.jpg Baseball hall of fame within a short drive from my house, 2016 hosted the Little League World Series champions not too far from where I am

So, I guess those are the types of little things that are kind of cool happening in my area?

I read a news brief yesterday which said there is a strong possibility that the Cherry Blossom trees at the Tidal Basin in DC might bloom as early as three weeks than usual. I guess they want to get it done before trump bans their blooming seeing as how they are immigrants - lol !!!

I thought old Mr. Davidson slipped up this year as it was 20 degrees here yesterday morning. However the trees and flowers don't seem to have been affected, so maybe old Mr. Davidson wasn't so wrong after all. The only thing that was affected was my natural gas bill!

Nothing special is happening today, but the news is all abuzz of an impending blizzard coming Monday night into Tuesday into this area!

NYC Weather Forecast: 'Major' Snowstorm Could Blanket City In Up To 18 Inches Of Snow
More than a foot of snow will likely fall on NYC early next week. A "blizzard watch" and "winter storm watch" have been issued for the city.

CENTRAL PARK, NY — The two-or-so inches of snow we got Friday was child's play compared to the "major winter storm" expected to hit NYC this coming Monday night, then wreak havoc for at least 24 hours, according to federal weather officials. (For updates on the incoming storm and other local stories that affect you, subscribe to Patch's daily newsletter and breaking news alerts for your NYC neighborhood.)

A "blizzard watch" and "winter storm watch" were in effect from midnight Monday through midnight Tuesday in all five boroughs.

The National Weather Service warned of "falling and/or blowing snow with strong winds and extremely poor visibilities," which could "lead to whiteout conditions and make travel very dangerous." Power outages are also a possibility.

Notice southern, Ohio...surrounded nearly on three sides...and missed us. Don't you wish you had an old Mr. Davidson as your neighbor? lol
