WANTED: Not ASS, but rather "ASPIRATIONS" do you still hold as vital for America?

With the "top 1%ers Billionaires" buying influence all around, Lobbists representing "ONLY" BIG Business Interests, Health Care Providers/Insurance Lobby buying influence in DC, Recently Bailed-out Financial & Banking Institutions "Hands off" policy towards Main Street needs, and Washington's "non-compromising gridlock" running rampant on both sides in Washington Politics, what is left for the Middle and Lower Class American Citizens (aspirationally speaking) leading up to a more effective solution to our long over-lapping economic, educational, and employment ills?

Please give us BOTH your thoughtful views on these critical concerns AND your useful suggestions to descramble all of this "political encryption" currently being waged against the average American Citizen!

ALL SIDES WELCOMED!:welcome::anyone:

The division between those that have and those that do not have is only growing. It is unacceptable that those that have are unwilling to share, donate and help out those that need that helping hand. My husband and I not not have lots, but help those we can, and the need is only growing. If you have: share, donate, and better yourself by helping others!

Well you have your opportunity to change things in November. I think it's important that everyone votes and the fact that everyone can vote via mail means there is no excuses.
But I guess the reply I shall receive is that whoever gets elected will have no influence on the bankers etc. Is this because these rich people help the camps financially during the election ?

Everyone should be entitled to free state healthcare and I find it weird that this is not the case in the USA. In the UK we have free state care AND, for those who wish, private healthcare. In most cases operations are undertaken by the same surgeons in both cases but the Private patients get theirs done in the surgeons own time, so therefore they do not have to go on a list.

I do not thing anyone will sort out the greedy financial institutions, unless we jail them all.

You are so right Jon. All the people I have ever talked to, who don't vote, feel that their vote won't make a difference. And, people elected to such high offices, can't make all that much difference because they do owe their success to those who financed their campaigns.

As for healthcare. That really pisses me off. The US sends billions of $$$ around the globe to aid people and ignores the thousands of Americans it could help right here at home. There is no need to go to socialized healthcare, if we just took care of our own before trying to aid others.

I agree with you about the healthcare system in the U.S. I think it is one of our biggest flaws.....the fact that hard working Americans have no health care, that many with health care still have to pay so much for their plan or medications that they must go without, and the fact that the politicians and those at the top of the "food chain" really do not understand that so many people work hard every single day, but still cannot afford the necessities of life.

If the two big parties were more concerned with fixing things, and less concerned with beating the other "party," we might actually have a chance at doing something good.

Indeed it does send billions around the globe and that must make it all more sickening for you guys. Going back to voting - there are some countries where voting is mandatory and you can get fined for not voting.

Are there any other parties apart from the Republicans and the Democrats that maybe you can vote for - kind of a protest vote if neither of their pledges do not tackle such things as health.

What has Obama done about it in his first 4 years and what did he promise ?

They all promise stuff, but do not deliver. There are other parties, but they almost never win. I feel, as George Washington did, that political parties only serve to divide our country. I have voted for candidates outside of the two parties, but few make it. I think most are deceived into believing that those two are the only choices you have. I remember them teaching that in school, but I didn't believe it then and still don't today.

I think you should all put the two party syndrome aside and vote for who you want and not which one of the two is the better of two evils. If everyone adopted this policy then the administration would get the biggest wake up call in years.

I'm about ready to vote against every incumbunt just because I do not believe they have worked together to solve our nations and state problems. Everyone wants to fight and make a name for themselves rather than fight for what is best for the whole country. I live in Iowa and we get all kinds of farm subsidies. I believe that each industry should survive on its' own merit, not what is best for a single state of special group. I believe we should all consider buying only items from the free world and not from communist or dictator lead countries. Buy things made in USA, UK Italy etc. NOT China, Iraq, Russia etc.

China calls in ALL US debt...

Dear cum2me01,

Should we decide to arbitrarily end foreign trade with China as you have suggested, we could kiss our country goodbye! China owns the US almost lock, stock, and barrel and they have the paper to prove it! Wal-Mart has served us like a "Pimp" or a "Drug Pusher" pandering to American consumer interests with cheaper Chinese stuff over domestically produced products to our own economic disadvantage. Only the american consumer is responsible for this while minimizing much needed domestic jobs for the masses of unemployed and underemployed Americans.

"Totally Free Trade", left to its own devices without government regulation, really "Sucks the Big One"! It consumes "the Ameridan Dream" and the Middle Class" along with it! There really is no Free anything!

Hey Stimpy, Of course I have over exaggerated a little. However I do remember when made in USA was something most people looked for and made in China was considered cheap junk. I also remember when a person who bought a foreign car was considered a little unamerican because they were taking jobs from hard workers in detroit and our own steel mills.

As you can tell, I'm just and old fool with more years behind me than before me. It's just too bad that it used to be that the trade deficit was in our favor. As the world evolves, so does the world economy.

Agreed, made in china was always associated with junk however, over the last few years things have improved - allegedly. I don't think China was the cause of the downfall of Detroit.

This is what happens without "aspirations"

Dear jon,

Unfortunately, the complacency of the American Automotive Industry lead to its own demise. The "Research and Development" focused more on advertising goals, than on building a dependable quality car. Then, the Japanese beat us at our own game. GM was #1 and did not produce "world class cars". Neither did Ford or Chrysler. They assumed that they were protected, invulnerable to foreign competition, and lost BIG TIME!

I have been a "Car Nut" all of my life but since 1979, I have strickly only owned Honda automotive products!:001_wub:

Sincerely "Hondafied",:anyone:

Only at this particular point in time, it is the "lesser" of two evils!

Nissan have a massive factory not far from me in Sunderland in the UK. No one complains though as they employ thousands of people in a fairly deprived area job wise.

Our economic survival slipping through our fingers due to the top 1%ers!

Dear joninliverton,

The Big 3 Japanese Car manufacturers, Toyota, Nissan, and Honda, all have local plants providing jobs spread throughout Canada, Mexico, and the US to avoid complaints against them. However, they get high productivity at much lower rates of pay because they can offer job security. Job security is not emphasized much by most employers and they have few if any plans for employee retirement. There goes the safety net crashing one more time. In this dog-eat-dog economy, only the super rich has demonstrated consistently higher incomes, while the middle classes have remained frozen for decades now accounting for the significant loses in family's net worth, so the millionaires and billionaires can keep on keeping on, while the rest of the country goes to Hell in a handbasket!.:crying2::confused1:

When did the American Dream get returned to the factory on a factory recall? Perhaps beginning with Ronald Reagan??? Probably so!

Sincerely hating the economic realities facing the Middle Class, meaning you can't win for loosing!

Sincerely disillusioned,

Stimpy

Stimpy it's rather similar over here. The rich get richer, the poorer get richer because they get more benefits, and the middle class stagnate and are many times worse off because they dont get a good pay raise but get stung with higher taxes to pay off the poor.

Which Utopian society would have the right balance?

Do you take from the rich to give to the poor? Do you take from the poor to give to the rich? Do you take from the middle to give to both the rich and the poor? Or do you take from the middle to give to only the rich or only the poor?

Or none of the above? If none of the above, what is the alternative?

Within the U.S. I see examples of just about every scenario being played out...or at least discussed. Yet in name we are considered a capitalist country. I realize this topic is more like an essay question on a college "isms" final. But I'd be interested to hear some of people's responses.

I thought you were describing life in the USA!

Does anyone want to take a stab at this one?
