I'm genuinely curious to know what people's opinions are on this subject.
It's been mentioned a few times on various threads that the current group of models are (for the most part) all bottoms. There seems to be very few masculine models who arrive for the usual solo scene, and then stay the distance as a top only.
My question is, does that matter? Is it important that Broke Straight Boys has some/many/any models who establish themselves as a dominant top in each scene and never bottom? Or should each model that comes to Broke Straight Boys accept that they should be versatile?
Im going to use two of my favourite models as examples. Firstly, Ben Dover. The biggest surprise for me in recent times was seeing him bottom. When I first saw his solo and his first batch of scenes I thought we had an Alpha Male on our hands, girlfriend at home, here purely for the money (probably terribly naive of me,lol) and that he would be a dominant top to all of his scene partners. Now, I love Ben, and in every scene where he is a top he is fully dominant in my eyes, but what surprised me is by his 4th scene he was bottoming for Brandon and, on the whole, thoroughly enjoying it. Perhaps not a complete virgin in that department, or maybe some last minute practice with a Dildo helped, or maybe just took to it like a duck to water. Either way, several months on, he's very much versatile.
Backtrack to the beginning of 2016, and Abram Hoffer rides a dick for the very first time after being with Broke Straight Boys on and off for over a year. Now, the difference between these two favourites of mine with their first experiences is as far as east is from west. In almost every scene that Abram's in he owns his partner and leaves them absolutely breathless, whereas in the scene where he bottoms for David Hardy he is clearly not himself, he looks uncomfortable, and by his own admission he's 'freaking out a little bit'. To me, he only looks comfortable when he gets back in the hot seat and reclaims his position as natural top.
In sum with these two, I love watching Ben bottom just as much as I love watching Ben top. While it was interesting to see how Abram took to bottoming, it didnt seem like something he was going to take to. For me, having watched all of Abram's scenes in hindsight, I think having a masterful, rough, power top who does not bottom is great. But thats just my opinion.
So, is someone who only tops going to be less appealing to viewers on here than someone who bottoms as well? For a broader view, is being versatile the key to a longer life here, and within the porn industry as a whole? Or should having a model or two who remain as being top only and never bottom, no matter how long they remain here for, a fundamental part of this site?
