I've been a member here since 2008 and probably my all time favorite model is Shane. He did his solo February 11, 2009 followed by 15 partnered scenes through March 28, 2010. And as for Rifle/Aquarius I hold him in very high regard also. That may come as a surprise to some longtime members. We got along great for quite a while. Then we had a very unexpected falling out. He was never the same after he lost his real life cowboy partner with whom he had raised several children. His personality changed and he was never the same again. My heart truly ached for his loss when I sensed the loneliness and the untethered-ness of his new widower life. I wish him well whether he is still with us here on earth or if he's on the other side. But about the wedding. It’s not always a big traditional deal anymore but your thoughts reminded me of a real life event when I was in college. One of my classmates who was a closet gay was getting married. His family owned two prominent businesses in town so it was a big deal. The fiancé was a pretty blond known as a bit of a slut around campus and obvious society climber going after this particular ordinary looking gay boy. Anyway, I was out with class mates decorating the grooms BMW, with cans and shaving cream and the groomsmen where all bragging that every one of them had slept with the bride. The only male in the wedding party that had not was the groom. She ended up working for a prominent doctor for years that she was having an affair. There were 5 children. People speculate as to who the father really is. But they pulled it off. The groom is now a proud happy grandpa who never did come out. The wife passed away from cancer.

Wow! That's quite a story Rep. And I don't doubt every bit of it is true. I've heard similar tales of gay guys playing it straight for the sake of the family, the church, or just what they saw as otherwise stifling societal expectations that they could see no way out of. That tends to be much more true of the generations who are around 60 or much older now. And of course previous generations, already passed, who have preceded us. Hopefully nowadays gay people feel far less of an absolute obligation to live a lie, get hetero married, produce children just for the expectation and the sake of it, and just hope and pray that they can eke out a few brief moments of true personal happiness in the years ahead.

SO many people went down that road. And in other parts of the world they still are. While the climate has improved drastically drastically here in the U.S. and the West in general, it has not improved in many other countries around the globe. Even places like Poland and Eastern Europe are bad off right now. And Asia and the Muslim world are still very homophobic.

Tampa it is true and was about 40 years ago now. I think there are still marriages of convenience. But hopefully not as bad. I had an uncle who was gay and so was his wife. They had their separate “friends,” that they traveled with etc. but stayed happily married their whole lives and evidently loved each other. They were married in the late 40’s and it was years before I figured out what was going on. I’m not even legally married to my partner of 20 years because it would still be a strain on both families but we are just as together but without the sheepskin. One day it will happen. But even for me who has been out for 40 years it’s still something I don’t want to rock the family boat about.
